۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞184

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the delicious breakfast--I needed it this morning.

Anyone who has to be out today, be careful. The rain has stopped but the winds are horrible. My yardman is going to have his hands full when he comes--more limbs on the ground than the trees now.

Synda, I can remember doing similar things when my hubby was alive--thank goodness he was a gentle, laid back person and just accepted me as being a little nutty!! Hummm, life is to full of stress not to have a few laughs!!! Have you painted his toenails red yet? LOL

Well, need to have some printing done for the festival so I am going to bundle up and head into the city for a while.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Still looking for a computer. I don't need a monitor, just the tower. If I turn off the computer, and unplug all the routers and stuff, it resets, then I am set to go for another few hours!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

and then came the cold. and it got colder and colder.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Poor Sis, is so cold, and so wet...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

good morning, all!
just popped in to say HI, then get back to work.
I've got the aft off to go to a church ladies meeting.
I was busy last night making a BOM, so wasn't on much then either lol
got a lot of compliments on it today! I changed out some of the fabric they gave, and I think my choices of 2 of them were better - and opinion here says I was right ^_^

chat atcha later, my sistahs, and have a truly Wonderful Wednesday!!!

Susan, you need to post pictures of your blocks please? We would love to see them!

Glenview, IL

Help!! Someone have shovel?

LOL good Morning.
Oh yeah, would love to see your blocks Susan.
Ok...I HAD to go and check out the stack & whack, I LOVE it...Jaye, glad you have the patients for it, that would take me hours to stack it just right. I looked at my materials, But I already washed dried, the direction I read says don't. lol so i won't be trying that for a while, but really like the keleidascope patterns...

OK, so not sure if i told you Sistahs, MIL fell and broke her arm yesterday. Today she is to have set, yikes I am thinking she will have to have surgery. Even with the temp cast her arms still jiggly...

Love all the picture Synda!

Yep thanks for the harty breakfast jaye, sure need that.

Linda Kaye, glad you got your computer back...

Been snowing since Monday night, was so pretty to see.
this is from my sunroom, you can see from the top of picnic table how much.

Marion, wow, you sure are having the rainiest season ever? Yikes, Well Natural pruning of the trees, hope they are done with that.

Ill see you all in a bit.

yes, I'll post pics, LK.
I'm really pleased with this block. It's awfully pretty (and a lot simpler than the last one!!)

Susan

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Judy, sorry to hear about your MIL, falling and breaking her arm! OUCH! Hope she can get it fixed with out the surgery?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmm.. signature blocks...
Susan, wouldn't it be a neat idea if we make a bunch of those and send out to BELOVED family members to sign? Nope.. bad idea.. the postage overseas will brankrupt me!
Yah, show us some pics.

You're too funny Judy. A sistah like you that would try anything should attempt a stack and whack. I can assure you, you'd be whacking more than just fabric!!! Me think I've downed 3 six-packs... straight coke no chaser!!!!
Didn't know of your MIL breaking her arm. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Thunder, I'll do just that tonight.

Poor sis Kathy.. please don't fret.. sending you sunny thoughts!

It was blistering cold with the gusty winds. Glad to be home and off the roads!! Yup, more inept drivers than ever, and I don't give the 'bird', I give my whole left fist!! Hehehehe.

Expecting some power outage later today so I just baked some ham just in case.

Going to the next building and see what's up.

Sssshhhh don't nobody wakes Synda up.. she needs her beauty sleep ;)

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I'm working on my signature blocks, too. I'll have a few "extras" - those first ones that ended up being slightly smaller than intended. I think I can incorporate those into the sistah lap quilt, though!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Starting a good trend there Nichole.. no blocks are wasted!!
Show us what you're doing.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

You mean the signature blocks? I've got two blocks finished so far, so I could take a picture of one if that's what you mean . . .

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes, please Nichole. We love to be inspired!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

here is a picture of the signature block I did for the first group

If Synda is not sleeping, she is worrying herself sick over this weather. Rick has to drive almost 45 miles to get home from work and the snow has been falling almost since he left for work this morning. So after 8 hours of white stuff coming down, I am sure she is sick with worry over him making it home safe. It is not an interstate he drives but a rural highway. Two lanes, lots of traffic and many semi trucks. Treacherous road conditions on an already treacherous road.

Pray for him and pray she can remain calm til he gets home.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Ok, here it is. I saw the pattern for it in the 100 block magazine, and just loved it! Of course, I had to shrink the pieces to cut, since the magazine has 12" blocks. Took some figuring, but eventually it worked out. I still need to do the signature part. I've got two of them done, and the others are already in the assembly line!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nichole, those are so pretty! How long have you been sewing? What size are these blocks?

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Thanks, LK. I've made odd projects with my mothers sewing machine for years, but only bought my very first one back in September. These blocks will be 8.5" unfinished . . . it's hard to tell that in this picture, 'cause I didn't flatten it very well before I took the pic.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Nichole, that is beautiful. Oh goody, goody I think I am going to get one of those lovely blocks! I love the colors not to mention the block--great job.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm here.......haven't reach panic yet, that won't happen until it get time for him to come home. But here we go with the I can't thing ~~~~~~~~~ even though I may not want to go anywhere or do anything,if I can't or I'm told I'm NOT allowed it just eats at me to do it ! You can't even tell where my yard ends and the highway starts......it is unreal; !!!!

Julie do you think that maybe Linda Kays ethernet connection thingy is going bad? If so that is easily replaced.

Quoting:
Linda Kay-----Still looking for a computer. I don't need a monitor, just the tower. If I turn off the computer, and unplug all the routers and stuff, it resets, then I am set to go for another few hours!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, if that is the problem, I would rather spend another $100.00 for a new router, than a new computer!

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Linda Kay I am a self taught computer geek.........After I got brave enough to open one up they are so easy to replace parts as appose to the entire thing. You can even but individual parts to put inside, they just pull out and plug in.Call around to repair shops and tell them what it is doing and they will either tell you or ask you to bring it in,but first ask there rates because a lot of times you can find cheap guys to fix them.I replaced a few things in my old PC.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

LK - take the tower to Best Buy and have one of the Geeks look at it. They'll do an assessment for free. Hopefully it's not the motherboard that's on the fritz . . .

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Every now and then everyone should take off the cover and use something to blow out all the dust that get in there.....a can of air works greatDust get on the little elements and makes them miss fire or nor fire at all.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Well my darlin' made it home by the Grace of God !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Praying all are at home safe and warm !!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, where is Jaye? I finally took a picture of my Stack and Whack block.

lovethefrogs. hop you are all well, safe... happiness..

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Boy is that ever beautiful Marion !!!!!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

You girls that can sew are totally awesome! That is gorgeous Marion.. WOW.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

yes Marion gorgeous!! I really have to give that stack n whack a try

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my.. gone for a few and return to very impressive blocks!!

Thunder, Nichole.. amazing signature blocks! Guess you can come up with any pattern as long as you have a 'blank' square just for signatures?

Nichole, you're NOT a newbie. Making mathematical adjustments, points meeting, and good color combo... wow.. I should be taking lessons from you!!

Liking your stackie Maid M. Did you get a headache after you've finished that block or during? Lol!!
My triangles are cut at 45*. CRS here too, if I were to do one again, I'll have to keep referring to the book.
I'll look for some Zulu/animal prints for the next one.

Juanita, when you're ready to pick up quilting, we'll be here to support you!

Good advice about cleaning the inside of your pc there Synda.
Wouldn't it be nice if that's all you need, LK.. a new router?

I do hope all those affected by this record breaking blizzard, will be free from all dangers.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thunder, I'll be mailing out the mag to you instead. It's meant to be yours!!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thank you very much ladies. Now I want to see if I can refresh me old brain and finish the quilt. It is only lap size but I did like the zebra printf--funny I should really see if I have a piece large enough to show. I was amazed when I saw what it would do--print sure didn't give me a clue.

Thunder, coming from you is special--if I got that much done, you will finish an entire quilt. Just don't do it and get involved watching a television program. That spells disaster for sure. LOL

Stay safe all and warm.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Synda, I wish we had a best buy here. Nearest one in 160 miles away! We have a few computer nerds here, but they are all rip offs! You should have seen the dust inside my tower last Novemeber when the Dell came out to replace the hard drive! Whew, never knew so much could get into such a tight space!
Marion, that quilt square is so pretty. I am going to have to try one. Right after I do the log cabin! LOL!
Jaye, how many pieces of fabric did you send out, maybe we all could do a signature block for us Sistah's? At least a lap quilt size?

Dellroy, OH(Zone 6b)

LK, let me check, I may have a router here that I can send you...better than spending $100....geez.... I bought it when I bought my laptop and then realized I didn't need it but never made it back to the store to return it. It may take a couple days to get to the post office but if you want it, it is yours.
