Shes about too... #48

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I did send out cuttings, because I had so many, but all of mine turned to mush! Wish I knew why? Postage will be no problem, just let me know how much, and it will be off today!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Taters,

I have 3 of the cuttings you sent me still available. They were not marked as to color, but are well rooted and have leaves. If you want those three I will put them out in the mail on the 17th of March when I get pd.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please don't return, what I have sent you. I am just asking for any extra's anyone may have.
Thanks for the offer.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Linda , you know how much weight you can get into a 4.95 one size box? I have to go to work.. email me there.. my personal email is on my personal page here..

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Just want to say hello to all and ask where everyone else is? New site maybe....tried that and it's just to busy for me. To much extra info. on the responses.
Like to show a beautiful bloom. This is a Cajun Hibiscus sent to me last Fall from Jsxtiger. This is the most beautiful color and ruffle edges. Jax, I do hope your Confederate Roses are doing as well for you as the Hibiscus are for me.

Now Faye that is the most awesome thing ever!!! I hope mine make it. They are in the garage. The one closest to the door doesn't look too good probably from all the opening and closing the door in the snow and cold. Will just have to wait and see.

Nita

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Nita I think this is the prettiest bloom I've ever seen on a Hibiscus. May be the prettiest bloom i've ever seen period.
If anyone sees Jsxtiger on any of the threads, please send her here. I do want her to see this.
Thank you ....Faye

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Faye that is gorgeous.. I love Cajun Hibiscus. I have a small collection. yours looks really healthy.. mine are just now budding. did you get a name for her> you can find her on a website that names them but I can't remember the website.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good night!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Good morning all. Went to Costco at lunch and bought a bag of Glads 60 bulbs, and a bag of lilie bulbs. I need to stay away from that place...LOL Never grew glads before but I want to do a cutting garden for vases. I started watching one of the DG sites, I think yard to vase or something like that. Since I work so much decided I should bring flowers in the office and to my Mom. I am trying to get over the glads are used way too much in funerals.

I should be working but I came back to lunch not very motivated. Don't tell anyone.....it is our secret.....

Been reading applications all morning. They had me post on craigslist and I am here to tell you it has been something going thru all those this am....

Hope it is getting nice weather where all of you are at. Talking snow flurries here today.......oh well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is really nice here again today. I went to the front yard, and started weeding the angel trumpet garden, getting it readu for some cuttings. I found this really big, nasty grub. I left it out for the birds to eat! YUCK!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Nasty Nasty Linda Kay, I miss my ducks when I find things like that. I had this little duck and if he saw me with the shovel he was right there. I mean right there, I almost cut his head off one time cause he stuck it in the hole and I was slamming the shovel back in the hole....scared me....LOL He ate tons of grasshoppers to.....

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Looks like maybe a junebug larva LK. Could be a Jap beetle grub too. Hard to tell the scale in that picture.

Joyce , Glads are just about my most favorite flowers. Next to zinnias. My Grandmother grew them every summer for the church altars (she did the arrangements) and also to sell in the roadside stand. They are beautiful and bloom for a long time. I hope when I get our retirement place to have enough sun to grow them again.

Took a little break from packing and dusting and work stuff. I made a few kits for e Bay. Each one makes 10 little Easter baskets. I have a lot of card stock that doesn't work for my cards and this is a way to use it up. A fun project for the kids or grandkids. I always remember on Good Friday my Grandmother and I would always make something. Usually we dyed eggs, but we always did fun stuff that day. Just a thought. This is the link to the auction if anyone is interested.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Awww a grub! LOL, well, my birds wold be all over that one.
Gee, I miss doing fun things with children for Easter. The only things I do with children now is help pay their bills... LOL
I am terrible.. my DH joe keeps asking me what the "kids" will do after I am gone. I told him I don't know, and won't know.. after I am gone ;P~

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

wow, dahtzu! that is one bootiful creole lady! ........and ya know i am jist luving the confederate roses! i wanna git more soon!!!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

jsx, I can not thank you enough for the beautiful Hibiscus. It has another bud on it , and I'll have my camera ready. This one has me watching the other two...I am so anxious to see their blooms.

I have more rooted, Confederate Roses if you want couple, they are yours.
AYF, Faye

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Faye, I am so jealous yours are budding and blooming.. it is okay that I am jealous, right?? LOL

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, you can be jealous, that means you are happy for her.....least when it comes to gardening that is what I think.

Rain and rain and rain........

Gonna plant some bulbs in pots this weekend and finish cleaning up the gardening room, and take starts for you Linda Kay. I am going to repot my big banana tree also. Maybe I can get them in the mail Monday, I have another package to get out.

Daylight savings time Sunday....yeah! It will be light when I get off of work, so more time to play in the garden room!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Debra I do hope it's ok for us to be jealous of beautiful blooms. I think I want every one I see.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

dahtzu, me too, I love all the blooms. I try to write down the ones I like and it just depends on what is blooming. Can't really think of any of them in my garden I don't like, or other people's gardens as far as that goes. Afraid my garden looks a little hodge pogey cause I like everything and I plant everything, usually without a plan.....keep thinking I will move things and make it look better, but I usually have a stack of plants waiting on me to get in the garden, so away I go again. LOL
Formal I am not! ;D

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Joyce I'm glad to hear someone else has the same approach to gardening. Mine's kind of hither and yon as well. Because of the limitations of light here I have to put all the things that require some sun crammed together in a small area. All kinds of things stuffed here and there. And then when I'm working there are sometimes leftovers and I just stick them where I can. It is probably one of the worst designed gardens for a landscaper that ever was! Too bad, no one sees it by us and it makes me happy so what the toot! Lots of specimen plants.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I plant my garden to suit myself. If someone else doesn't like it then my opinion is "Don't look at it!!" Its my garden. I'll do as I see fit.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the invite, LK, even if I don't have anything blooming. Hi everyone, nothing like seeing all your pretty faces.

My gardens are a hodge-podge too, just the way I like them, and they're low maintenance so I can manage them. I live in the country and having one of those pre-planned ultra-clipped English gardens that are so beautiful in magazines are lovely to look at but certainly don't fit this country girl's taste or lifestyle. And how realistic are they anyway if you don't have a full-time gardening crew to keep them looking just so? I'd much rather have a rambling garden with interesting plants and blooms, hopefully from Spring to Fall, where friends and neighbors feel comfortable just taking a casual stroll.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey, Glad you could make it! Stick around, we will all have lots of blooms to share real soon!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Well, well, welcome Susan...shucks, you know you are welcome on any and all threads. You are special to many people......me included.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Hi ya Susan! Hey I am glad it is okay to be jealous cuz I am jealous alot of everyones stuff :D Anyway, Just got home from a Longgg day at work. I had the table in the dining room piled high with seeds last night, then my dh walked by and said " nice table" ( translation: get that crap off of there..) so I stayed up until one am cleaning it all up and repacking it all up, just wait until he sees what I am undoing tommorrow LOL..
As Far as Garden Plans.. Every time I think I have a plan, I get new plants and then it changes.. I do alot of container gardening, so I move stuff all the time.. I am still trying to adjust to a full sun patio, instead of a shady one. A full sun fence, instead of dappled shade, and this year, I am sinking the pond form, or building it on to the patio corner.. which ever I can get done without too much griping here.. I can hear it now: What?? You are not going to dig up that corner, I just planted all that grass there!

It is still cold and grey here.. bleah. First signs of Spring thru the leaves on the flower beds..DH uncovered them so I could take this picture.. isn't he so sweet, I mean really??

Thumbnail by joeswife
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Sure glad I am not the only one who does that. I must have way too many friends who are the opposite of me. Maybe they keep me around to try to change me....LOL
I truely do wish I planned a little better.....someday...yeah right.....how can you pass up a flower you never thought of, or one that is such a good price .....rofl....or you swapped for or got cause some DGer enabled your addiction...LOL

Debra, I have all kinds of green poking up but it is really cold and wet and dark today.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hey guys have a pic for you.
It has several blooms and lots of buds forming.....big problem washed the spider mites off last Sunday and already they are back at work! Uggggg. Too cold to wash off this weekend.

Ran up to one of our small town stores and someone is giving away dashounds,, OMG were they cute. 8 weeks old and soft and little......I didn't take one since I have 2 bassets, 1 wire terrier, and a black lab, but darn they were cute.
