Time for a new room, to talk about brugs, flowers, plants...

I can't wait for my burgs to bloom. They are growing beautifully in the bathroom now. When the weather is right, I'll move them outside and see how they do.
I'm watching the one up the street. Right now its covered with snow, but the lady says it doesn't hurt it. She says it comes back every year and gets bigger. Not sure I want to trust my burgs outside all winter.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, snow covered brug? I bet it dies back, then comes back from the roots? Let me know how it does?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'll let you know. She does not mulch it or anything. I'm going to plant some of mine and I will mulch them for protection during the next winter and see what happens.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow! Started a new thread with beautiful blooms and a beautiful face. Thank you LK

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thank you sweet Linda Kay! Great picture for sure. You look warm. That helps when I am staring out my window at the snow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That was last summer when our temps were 100+ for a long time! Nice and warm!

Hey Debra, how you doing? Are you all frozen up that way?
Your brugs are looking good!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh yeal, we are freezing here.. Duke says he is too old to go out to pee.LOL

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Aw..Duke is adorable. :0)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Awww, Duke looks very cold! Love the beagles, but boy they can be a pain, when they get a scent of something, and off they go!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Deborah, you just made my day! The first 3 Brugs are from me. You must be doing something right, they sure do look healthy. Thanking you for showing us the growing in progress.
duke is one cutie. My 2 little ones had a hard time finding someplace they thought they could potty, couldn't find grass anywhere and their little thingies were dragging in the snow. Poor babies...but that didn't stop them from making me get up @ 5:30 to take them for a walk. Goodness, that was such a cold, hard thing to do.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well, it got up to 39 today and the snow is melting.. YAY!
Poor little short doggies, they have a hard time in the snow..
here are some cuttings from Seray in a bubble tub the other night..

Debra, those are looking nice. Mine are showing a little sign of life, but nothing like yours! But I still have faith, they will perk up soon!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

dahtzu, I know what you mean about the little ones. Our little mini doxy ran out to go potty and jumped off the steps and disappeared in the snow. I had to go dig her out. She came back in and refused to go back out. She used her potty pad in the bathroom. With the snow now melting off, she is happy to go out now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL! That must have been so funny to see her go poof! LOL!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

It was! And the look on her face when I dug her out was like it was my fault. When she got back in the house she ran and jumped into bed with my sister (whom she owns) and tunneled in under the blankets. Never saw my sister move so fast in years!!! RAOFLMAO!!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL!
Bet that woke her up!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

LK you need to send your husky up here to me. He would love this snow. :))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I bet he would. It gets pretty warm here in the summer, and on the hottest days, he goes out in the front yard, and lays there for hours, soaking up the sun! Don't know how he does that with all the fur!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I lost you guys again......somehow this forum falls off of my watched site......

I have brugs, hybiscus, calla lilies, and orchilds blooming.......feels so good and smells wonderful.

We still have snow where I live and I am in an all out war with those stupid spider mites! I need just a couple of nice days, 50's will do, so I can get them out and sprayed really well. UGHHHHHH

Are you Texan's warming up down there? I don't want it to get warm here unless it is going stay that way, don't need 60's and then drop to 17 for a week like it has done in the past! I know I just can't be happy...LOL

I am ready to get seeds started and way ready for spring even tho it is still Feb......daylight saving around the corner.

Hey, Deb you have some great starts going on the bruggies....will be pretty pretty this summer.

Our MG group is starting to get ready for our plant sale. Takes a lot of planning but I enjoy doing it. We sell perennials and the FFA kids sell annuals. The MG's dig the plants from their gardens so they are use to our weather and we sell for a great price, not so much to raise money but to make folks aware of gardening. Wish you all could come.

Here is a pic of my orchid I got for Valentine Day.....haven't killed it yet.....

Beautiful orchid, Joyce!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You have your plants inside blooming?
Yes it is finally warming here, it was 58 today, but real windy this afternoon!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Thank you Debra, I just hope I don't kill them. I already have buds dropping from one of them.....ughhhhh!
You have so many beautiful things growing waiting for spring. How beautiful it will be this spring.

Hi Linda Kaye, everything that is blooming is in the solar room. We finally had some sunshine and the plants have gone crazy. We have had the coldest, darkest, snowest winter. Now with all the snow cover and the sun shining it is really bright outside.

I so would love to move south. I did really enjoy living in Texas.
Did you have any damage due to the unusual cold spells you had?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not too much damage, I had all my plants in the spare room, so hopefully they will be OK.
What part of Texas did you live in?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I lived in San Antonio and really loved the weather.
Came back to KC because of family, which I guess is why we are still here.....and the tons of junk we would have to hire multiple semi's....LOL
Have you always been in Texas?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No, I have been here since 86, when we moved here with the air force, with ex hubby, he left, and I stayed! I am originally from Michigan. We were stationed at Knob Noster (Whiteman AFB) for 4 years, back when they had the missle silo's, but I have heard they don't have them any more.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Whiteman has the stealth now but no missles now.
Same story here moved with x to AFB in San Antonio, I should of stayed...LOL couse then I would of missed out on 2nd hubby.....
Well from Michigan you know winter...LOL I am so tired of winter right now.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Joyce, remember that tall fan looking reedy thing you gave me? It is going crazy now! ( inside of course)
Linda, remember those cuttings you gave me?? You will be proud of me.
Faye, did you send me the Yardsale? or was it Linda? I didn't get all of the cuttings I received from Kimarj to grow, but I did get a few of them to make it. I counted my total brugs up last night.. 67..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, 67??? You will be in brug heaven for sure!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

well, I don't expect all of them to bloom this summer.. but will have a good time taking care of them outside. I am planning on having them on the south fence, with coleus and caladiums and EEs in between, with the impatiens and creeping daiseys around their bases. the north fence is full sun, so will have my full sun garden full ..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I had coleus at the bottom of my brugs last year, and some of the coleus grew to be just as big as some of the brugs! Sad to say, none of my coleus cuttings made it! They all got mushy!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well, with the 11 coleus I have in the downstairs garden, all the seedlings and then the 9 that I ordered from gebharts, I ought to have enough. I am ready to send out the Mixed bag of seeds to everyone in this forum thread that wanted some.. please note they are Mixed.. and there are coeus seeds in there.. will be mailing out to Linda, Pegi, Doris, and Faye.. can't remember who else wanted some seeds from me.. if you are lurking plz speak up!

PS: I miss Bonnie, I have no clue how she is, I can't get her on the phone, so I am sending her a card..

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Debra, your Brugs are looking good. The first 3 pic. above are brugs from me....that includes Yard Sale Yellow. She is a beauty.
I have missed Bonnie for a long time now.....it was Bonnie who helped me so much Fall of 2008 with Brugs.
Sure hope she is well and happy. If you do find her, tell her she is missed.
Faye

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Ohhhh, Debra I hate that you are not hearing from Bonnie, I thought she was keeping in touch with you. Darn. Oh my, 67 bruggie children, the duggers have nothing on you??? MY MY MY.....that is alot of brugs to move in and out....wozier, we zone 5 folks sure have zone envy...LOL
I am guessing the reed looking thing I gave you must be ginger. Off the top of my brain that is all I can think about that is reedy like. If it is wait until it blooms, OMG does it smell wonderful!

Linda Kay, I had a mush problem with several of my coleus, but I also had some success. If you want I will try to get some stalks growing for you and will mail when my temps are not so darn cold....course at this rate that might be august...LOL The coleus I fell in love with last year is just doing so darn good and it was a trooper in the sun and heat and humidity. I have started a coleus standard and it has been fun so far. I need to transplant it but afraid I will break it.

This is rustic orange, color in the picture is not so good, it is a real copper looking color.
