Hack
Well, its cold and wet outside. I brewed me a couple cups of coffee and while the coffee was making I rolled out onto my Wheelchair deck and made these LONG-Range photos.
Some are made with the Bigmos 150-500 lens and others were made with my 70-300 lens attached to a Tamron 2x converter.
All have been auto enhanced with Elements 7 and cropped, also.
Hack
Here is a trio of birds on one of my feeders, 2 House Finches and a House Sparrow. (Bigmos)
Nice shot guys/gals!! Frank, Nice capture on the Egrets! Make's me think of Spring!
Met, nice work with the Goldfinch's!!
VA_Wild_Rose, really like your Titmouse set!! I watch the Starling's pick stuff up, if they don't like it they throw it out of the tray feeder, and it hits the squirrel baffle often. Ting!!! lol
Duckmother, nice shots! Really like your Fox Sparrow, haven't seen mine since early December.
Hack, Nice shots! Ive only heard the Carolina Wren sing a couple times at the Marsh, it was my mystery bird out there for a little while until I saw him singing. I think the House Wren's have a big mouth too, but enjoy hearing them during the summer.
I was glad to see a flock of female Red-winged Blackbirds in my backyard today. It's the first time I've seen them in my backyard. We had about 3 inches of rain in the last 48 hours, and the temperature dropped from the 60s to the 20s, so maybe that had something to do with them moving through. They were running with some Brown-headed Cowbirds. I didn't see any male RWBBs.
That first one is creepy Nanny!
Must have caught him blinking...
Makes hime look like his eyes are rolled back in his head.
Something for a future Halloween thread! LOL!
Nice shots thebestmissy, Nanny and Duc!!
I'm loving this thread. It's a dreary, rainy day here ... not complaining because we sure need the rain and it's a lot better than what some of y'all are having to deal with or getting ready to deal with with snow and ice! Yikes, I can't complain at all.
WildRose: That little Titmouse is just the cutest little thing! That is so funny about the peanuts!
duckmother: Wow, that really is frost/ice on that Dove's tail feathers! I'm always amazed at what little birds can withstand weather wise! Ok, what is that cutie in your photo just before the dove? Is it one of the towees? It sure is pretty. I guess those Chipping Sparrows are common in lots of areas? We only see them here in winter time and I enjoy watching the teeny things flit about!
Hackster: I too love the Carolina Wren, great shot!
missy: Look at all those female red-winged blackbirds! Guess they decided to let the males fend for themselves!
nanny: ooh, that is an evil look on that crow's face ... that second shot is cute, amazing how much some of these birds can hold in their beaks at one time!
ducbuclyn: Nice shot of that female Brewer's Blackbird showing the detail! I've never seen one. My bird book says they are occasionally seen from Nov-Apr, usually singly or with small flocks or with Red-winged blackbirds, mostly in the northern part of Florida. Great pic of the Mockingbird. It has always amazed me at how low they will nest in trees or shrubs. We had a nest low in a hibiscus bush last year.
I got a couple of shots of a little Cardinal about a half hour ago before it began to pour.
They are just so pretty, as is the Eastern Rosella ... another new one!
I had to go google the Eastern Rosella. Wow, what a colorful bird! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Platycercus_eximius_diemenensis.jpg So interesting looking, some look like rainbows! http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=eastern+rosella+parrot&oq=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=Jq9kS72iA82UtgeYsMGqBg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=5&ved=0CC0QsAQwBA
Looks like it is out for a stroll.
Lin, Your female Cardinal is very pretty!
Kim, Nice one of the Fox Sparrow!
Great shots everyone!
Lin, it is a Fox Sparrow...isn't he a cutie?! Great shots of the Cardinal.
Thanks, Pell.
Boy things are flying now here!!
Yesterday was over cast so I practiced with settings to try to get better under those conditions.
I could have never gotten this shot this good with the Fuji I don' think! One thing about this camera that I am really starting to like is that it photos are little softer. You won't get the very hard crisp outlines with this camera.
Cardinal, Carolina Chickadee and House Finch on the feeder.
