It is time for a fresh thread!
We came from here... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1072103/
I'll start with some recent shots from our balcony...
Our red-headed friend, who will only hang off the edge of the bannister when he visits.
He was looking for a peanut...

Thanks for starting the new thread VA!! Very nice pics of a good variety of birds!
I love the Carolina Wrens too and it's always a great day for me when the Nuthatch shows up.
Extremely cold here today and the feeders are very busy! Since we have a storm coming I took a few minutes to sprinkle food for small birds around the ground. There were a lot of them feeding, especially Dark-eyed Junco's. Here is a lighter colored one from the rest.
VA_Wild_Rose - great start to the new thread - tons of super pics. I really liked the framing of the Cardinal.
pelletory - nice looking D-e Junco. I had been seeing them pretty regularly, but haven't seen one lately. But I did see a Goldfinch and they haven't been around in a while.
Methodical - you posted while I was working on my post. I like the ducks, especially the Ring-neck Ducks

Hi Met, Wonderful shots of the ducks! I especially love that last photo!
Looks like it's going to be a great thread!
I like the ducks too!
2nd duck photo sort of looked like 'mad duck' like the mad bluebird.
Nice start to the new thread VA_Wild_Rose, look's like your enjoying that T1i as much as I am enjoying mine!
Nice shot Pelle! Cold weather here, supposed to get down to 2 degrees, add a little windchill and burrrr. My birds were chowing down big time today.
Met nice work as usual! Hope you got to see the Ruddy's for a period, it is fun to watch them, when just floating around they all look like they have tied a string to each other. lol Your last shot is superb!
Hack, Ive seen the (Yellow Variant) back in November but no shots, yesterday was my lucky day to get some shots.
I have a few shots but haven't put them together yet, will post some this evening.
Real nice Wild-Rose, thanks for a wonderful start. I think, that Mockingbird has a bone to pick with someone. :)
Pelle glad your seeing the Juncos. They've never return here, since the beginning of winter. I miss them.
Meth, great shots of the Ring-necked and Ruddy ducks.
Hack loved your feeder, on the previous thread. Wouldn't mind having one of those. You sure have, a lot of birds, there.
How does it feel, to get a camera in your hand again, Nanny?
We had a bad winter storm today, and these guys, emptied the suet feeder in no time. This picture was taken a few days ago.
Nice ones burn! I love the Snow Buntings!
Va_Wild_Rose: Thanks for the new thread! Wow, your photo's are great ... if I were younger I'd probably aspire to try and be better at taking pictures, LOL. Yours are so clear and sharp! That Red-bellied Woodpecker is really pretty. I feed them peanuts and raisins which they seem to like. I love Carolina Wrens too. My bird book says they are one of our most abundant birds and year round residents. I hear them sometimes but usually don't see them except in late winter/early spring! I a Wren at one of the feeders this morning but it was fast and I couldn't tell if it was a Carolina although I thought they were insect eaters and not seed. I didn't have any mealworms out, just seed ... but maybe there were ants or some other insect around the feeder. I didn't have the camera when I was out in the yard this morning but hopefully I will get a picture of one soon!
I've never seen starlings so I guess they don't come this far south? I will have to google and read about them. The look on that Mockers face is so cute ... that is a great picture!
pelletory: Is that little bird a Dark Eyed Junco? It's so cute but it is lighter in color than photo's I've been seeing.
Methodical: Love those Ducks! Do you live on a lake? The Ruddy Duck is interesting looking but I really think the Ring Necked is pretty. That look on the male ducks face sure is funny ... his lady left him!
Burn: Is the bird in your first picture a Starling? Cute little Black Capped Chickadee. Aaah, the Blue Jay, one of my all time favorites. I could watch their antics all day! The ones here love when I put Peanuts in the feeders! The color on your Blue Jay is so pretty, more white than the ones I see here and it makes that blue head really stand out! Is he a regular at your place? Sorry to hear about the little fella having an eye infection but glad to know it's healing!
I don't know if this is a Common Grackle or a Crow ... I can never tell them apart although I know the crow is larger.
Lin, Nice catch of the Mockingbird inside the bush!
Gosh someone saw the Spotted Towhee at Palmyra again today. Seems like the very cold weather brings her into view feeding.
Great start Wild Rose! I especially love the Cardinal and Mockingbird pics! Plantladylin, aren't the Painted Buntings a joy to see? I don't know if you are around Orlando, but when we lived there many years ago, we saw a lot of red-winged Blackbirds...but I have never seen any here. That's a Grackle in your pic above...I have tons of them.
gardenpom: I'm in Daytona Beach and yes the Painted Buntings sure are a joy to see! They are so colorful ... as someone said earlier, very tropical looking! I think my favorites though are still the Cardinal, Mocker and BlueJay which are here year round and nest all over the neighborhood. I posted a photo a few weeks ago that someone identified as a common grackle. I just wasn't sure if the one above was the same bird. We see a ton of them this time of year. Florida also has the Boat Tailed Grackle and a couple of different Crow's too. I can't tell one from the other, LOL.
What a great start to the new thread, Wild_Rose. Wonderful shot of the Blue Jay.
Al, the first shot of the male Ring-necked Duck is an absolute stunner.
Burn, that must be a sight to see - all those Snow Buntings.
Lin, your Mockingbird looks like the same the one with the broken bit off the top beak.
From a few minutes ago here at home, an adult Little Corella.
You guys gotta slow down I can't keep up! LOL
GREAT Wild Rose...I am partial to the Mockingbird there!
Met...your ducks are gorgeous....look like velvet!
Burn...I love those Snow Buntings too! It is great to have my cameras! Being without a camera was worse than when I quit smoking!! I was in tears one night...seriousy!
But I am staying busy practicing with the new one now....female Cardinal yesterday.
Oh my goodness Margaret, they are so adorable. I love the pink/grey Galah!
Aha, I hadn't even noticed that the Mockingbird in the shrubs was the same one from earlier that had been perched in a tree. So, there is something wrong with the beak! I thought it looked like it was broken but then I thought it might be my eyes. I took a bunch of pic's of Mockingbirds today, let me look more closely and see if I find any with whole beaks!
Nope, every one I took today in that area was the same Mockingbird with the injured/broken beak. I thought it was in the shrubbery because there's an Asparagus sprengeri fern growing up in that area and the Mockingbirds love the berries. He/she looks pretty healthy so I don't think the broken beak is deterring it from eating. I'm going to watch for it again tomorrow.
