Elizabeth
Superspot Blooming
Thank you both, but it wouldn't be so good without all my friends. Haven't heard from Kenboy, I'm sure he will show up somewhere. It's alwas good to see Gordon too. Mr. George must love it over there he has posted a lot of pic.
I really enjoy it, that is for sure.
Charleen
The next to the last pic is an old one. The last one is one from tonight.

Girl, I am sooo proud of you, look at all those healthy plants, I love it, you're doing a great job with you babies. I am glad you, posted them
Elizabeth
Shucks, thanks, Elizabeth. It has been so much fun watching them grow, this winter.I just want to tell everyone about brugs now.For such a beautiful plant, I think they are soo easy to grow from cuttings....for the most part, anyway...lol Some of mine just haven't taken off...they are still healthy, but small..Do you think they will jump, when they get put into the ground?
Dee
Dee
they will jump from that size too 7ft in one season, you'll be amazed how fast they will grow inground, esp. if you use MG
in your sprayer
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, I am a diehard MG girl..Sounds like they can't be over fertilized when they are growing, so I'll be pouring it to them, all summer long!
Dee
Elizabeth, do you have, or do you know anything about a dragon fruit plant.I think they are related to night blooming cerus. I just ran onto it on the web today, and it looks like one cool plant. I'm gonna have to look for one this summer.
Dee
Dee
I just got that one, my good friend gave it too me it's doing good, small but doing good, that is a cool looking plant, I really wasn't looking for it, but she bought a couple extra clippings when she got it, I have never ate dragon fruit, it's
suppose to taste great, I have sooo many plants, it took me half hour just too water the other night, the one plant I will leave to Charlene that's the Pitcher plant, I have had them before, they don't do well at all for me, also the dessert Rose is another one, I can't get them to winter over
Elizabeth
I am hoping that my favorite nursery has a dragon fruit plant, this summer. She has a lot of cool succulents. If you have trouble with pitcher plants, I don't think I want one, then...lol
Dee
Dee
I will be looking for a Dragon Fruit for you also, my favorite nursery doesn't carry it, the cerus I have are the day Blooming, Night Blooming & the red orchid catcus, that one resembles Dragon Fruit by the way they are shaped, they are thick while the other cerus have flat leaves
Elizabeth
Between both of us looking, we're sure to find one.
Dee
Elizabeth I had to up root my desert rose to let the new thick roots air out and then I moved her to the warmest room in the house, the pink bathroom.. they don't like cold and drafts and being to wet.. They do loose their leaves in the winter but they come back. Overwatering and lack of warmth will cause them to rot.
I almost bought a dragon fruit just for the seeds. My daughter came home with a guava and it was almost too ripe, so I kept the seeds after washing the jelly off them, they are in the refridge for now, am going to try to see if I can get one to grow. I got a kiwi up from a fresh kiwi, will see if it stays going. It takes me about an hour to water, and about a half hour to mist. Right now everything seems to be doing okay this winter, no problems. Just need some spring to come along..
Dolly sent me three or four cuttings of different cerus and got some from Tropic man this year, the ones from last winter went outside, they didn't do much but did grow, now they are sending shoots every whee, and the ones tropicman gave me are going crazy too. what do i do with them?
Besides this link, I remember reading that the plant has to get pretty big before it produces fruit.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/629585/
I was given a 12" cutting. For the moment I'm keeping it, but when it gets big enough to draw blood, out it goes.
I may try planting it in the ground if I can figure out a way to protect it during winter assuming, of course, that it can hand a few months of cool soil. I'm willing to push the zone, but some things are too prickly to handle.
Well it is nice to get up this morning with no new snow, and look at Elizabeths pictures again, I can't get that dark Pink out of my mind it is so beautiful, my plants are all up from the basement and looking out the window in my Plant room, I think they are as anxiouse to get out as I am, but I am sure I will get out long befor they do *S*after all we are one day closer to SPRING.
Doris
Thanks, for the link, Veronica.Lots of good info!
Dee
Good morning, Doris.Yes, it is a better day, weather wise.Glad you that you have all your plants up from the basement. One step closer to being outside!
Dee
Good afternoon everyone
Debra
I have my monster cerus, sitting under lights in the basement, I will post a Pic of it later this evening, had to spend some time with the family, so they don't forget me, I did recieve my Plumeria seeds this morning, now I am ready to plant, oh Debra my Cerus was 3yrs old before it Bloomed
Veronica, Doris, Dee, it's good too see you, I am glad there's no new snow, but the weather man said we had a new storm coming in Monday, I will have too buy some salt
Elizabeth
We're expecting more snow this week end also.Think I'll just hibernate1
Dee
Dee
I finally went out & shoveled snow, in preparation for the next snow, when the city plows my street, they leave this big mound that we have to drive over, so I have to get it out of the way before it freezes, well I looked like I was ready for it
I have these nice boots, hat, scarf & a down jacket, it could be a lot colder & I would've still be warm, so now I am ready for the next storm, it's not suppose to hit us until Monday
Elizabeth
My, my , my...........I'm sorry I have to say, I'm sooooop happy we live in a place where we see snow only on the mountain, about 30 mins. from where we live.
Sylvia
Sylvia
I should plan my winters too come stay with you, LOL, I couldn't imagine going outside & not see snow this time of year
are you getting all that rain they keep talking about for Ca.? it looked really bad with those mudslides, this winter was really weird, even in Fla. they had freezing temps, some really nice people may have lost a lot of their Brugs, here
we know to store ours in a heated place for the winter, I have a GH a small one but I don't try to heat it, it would cost too much, so I just use it too extend the seasons, the end of next month I will put some Brugs in it, & heat it, usually the end of April close to Mothers day, is the end of frost
Elizabeth
You have frost till the end of April, I would go nuts lol thats too cold for this old lady..
Your pictures or simply awesome the plants in the basement look nice and healthy..
Elva
Elizabeth we have no new snow but it has now reached a whopping 5 deg.so if it snowed it would be ice, they are still saying more snow for Sun. Mon. at least now I can look at my plants. I had a room built onto my house 5 yrs ago and it is glass on three sides so it makes a great plant room, I can't keep them in there all year as when I have company that is where they like to sit, but from now until April when it's safe to put my plants out they will sit in there and get used to the sun.
Keep the pictures coming.
Doris
Elva
you just find things to keep you busy, the worse thing about it when you have to shovel out, & your shovel is in the garage, you have to wade through all that snow to get it, my basement is the best room of my house in winter
Elizabeth
Doris
it was 17 acual Degrees last night, as you we are suppose to get more snow monday, I bet your plant room is really nice, as soon as I finish replacing the rest of my windows, I will have at least 5, that I can put Brugs in front of, I couldn't the coldest day of the year in december, I got the first of my replacement windows installed, the installer worked really fast, I bet you're glad too have your Brugs in that room, I still have too drag mine up from the basement, some are huge
I am going too get help with those
Elizabeth
Elva, it is just something that we are used to here, but you notice that all of we plant addicts, have figured out ways to keep plants growing inside to help get us thru winter...lol
Doris, your plant room sounds wonderful. I know that you enjoy it very much!
Elizabeth, from your description, I can just picture you all bundled up, like a little kid, with 6 layers of clothes under their snowsuit.I know I would have been...LOL
I heard on the news this morning, that there's a good chance that all the states will get some snow this year...can you imagine that?
Spring's a comin', girls!
Dee
34 degrees and snowing in the South. We are getting snow. It is beautiful. Got to get a few pic. Girls. Know you all ain't seen it. Heheheheh!!! Yeah, Right....
But I am going to get a picture.
WhooHooo Charleen..did you and Charlie do a snow dance(like a rain dance..lol). I can't wait to see your pic.
Dee

I got made fun of by my DD, she said I looked like I was from alaska, big boots & all, but I got it taken care of, my GD has this little medal shovel, now she wants to go out all the time & shovel, it's sooo cute her with that shovel, I have been down spraying all my plants, with MG & root stimulator, some of the leaves are starting to get big, & I have 4 new baby Brugs from seed, crosses
Charlene
I bet the long ears love snow, they don't get to see it very often, do they, I can't imagine all the states getiing snowed on
this is the time of year that we get the most
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, it said on tonights news that all the states but Hawaii(misp), has snow, right now.I bet your GD is adorable out there with her shovel. My 9 year old grandson is like that...loves to get outside and help Dad.
Congratulations on your 4 new babies.Girl where are we going to put all our babies, this year? I have two babies, that I need to pot up.I'm gonna try to get that done tonight.I have 3 different batches of seeds, that are setting on the heat matt doing nothing.I have had them sown 2-3 weeks. They look fine...no mold or anything...just sitting there. In fact, I put them on the matt, the same time as the ones that I need to pot up. I think I'll give them another week, and then chuck them....need the room.
Dee
Dee
I have a great place for the baby Brugs, on the side of the GH, by the garage, & I plan on emptying the big fishtank, then turn it upside down over the babies the end of April, so it's like they're in their own GH
Elizabeth
Dear ladies..,........Right now here in Hemet it is 60. We love it! No rain or mudslide problems here. Only problem is we'd love more rain. Never lived in snow, don't want to thank you very much. If we want to see snow we can drive 25 mins. up the mountain.
Sylvia
Elizabeth, that sounds like a great idea, turning the fishtank, up over the babies! I bet they will love it!
Sylvia, I think that's it's just what we are used too .Myself, I can't imagine Christmas in a warm climate...LOL
Dee
Today I am devastated, one of my very favorite Brugs is lost, it was the last one I brought up from the basement, I could not believe how soft the stem was because it is a 3yr. old plant, I have no idea what happened but she is beyond saving this is the bloom she had when I brought her into the house in the fall. it is Mon Amour
Doris
that's a shame, I just hope it will come back from the roots, don't toss it yet, do you see any green at soil level? it is a beautiful Bloom, is there any way too check the rootball, see if you see nice roots, people in Fla. that theirs look brown
has some green shoots coming up, they had an extended cold temps, we'll just have too see between all of us, if we can find clippings or a plant that one of us can trade for to get you one, I have had really good luck on another forum
getting plants, sometimes for trade
Elizabeth
