plantlover49 I thought your middle name might be Ann. That's why I mentioned it. Your Elizabeth brug is so like my DD, she too is beautiful, delicate with a faint smell. She is getting married for the first time in the next few months. An Elizabeth brug would be perfect. When it gets going she can plant it in her yard. They are looking to buy a home soon.
Sylvia
She can always take a piece of it with her where ever she goes. That is so precious.
We wish her well, Sylvia.

Girl you're in for a treat, just remind me this Summer, Congratulation to you sweet DD I bet you're really excited for her
just as soon as I put my Brugs in the ground, I will be taking all the side limbs off, I want to train them as standards, so there will be lots of cutting to get you started, plus I should have a bunch of seedlings, I am starting seeds now of crosses
Elizabeth
Charleen Thank you so much for your good wishes. I'm so proud of DD. As a single parent she worked very hard to get her BA in 07. Now she has this very adoring soon to be husband. She can hardy wait to have a home where they can garden. I know the love of Brugs will rub off on her.
Wow!
Thank you for posting Elizabeth!
Elizabeth is gorgeous!

Elizabeth, my white Audrey Hepburn had an apricot flush in the dead of winter year before last. I started a thread to ask for the reason a white Brug would suddenly produce apricot blooms. The closest I got to an answer was that somewhere in its ancestry it has apricot genes and that sometimes they can show up in a flush or two. The apricot flush was a one-time-only thing. I looked up Elizabeth. It's an American Pride (yellow) x Pink Smitty cross so that could explain the slight color.
I'm seeing video of all the snowstorms on the news. I hope everyone is safe. When we lived near New Richmond, I always got cabin fever around February. When compared to what folks who live in the mid-west get, I shouldn't complain about our weather, but after 2 full years of the most awful drought, it would have been nice to have had a winter conducive to growing winter grasses for our cattle. We had 1-1/2 weeks of spring-like weather in January just after we fertilized and after a good rain so it's grown some but not enough.
My Brugs were growing and blooming so well up until both propane tanks went dry around 2:00AM one freezing night in early January. Thank goodness for well water! I had a sprinkler on in the greenhouse for the rest of the night. I think my Pink Charm may be a goner. It probably should not have been so close to the outer wall since it was in a gallon pot. The bark on its little trunk is split in several places. The Brugs located near the outside perimeter lost their leaves, but should be OK. However, now I have spider mites. I'll have to remove all the leaves and spray with neem oil. I just hope all those seedpods stay on.
Veronica
I am sooo sorry you had all that trouble, we had 6 inches of snow, before it stopped, I can't complain, usually we have 2ft in February, I think you're right about the color, it has something to do with it's parents, I am just grateful for any Blooms this time of year, I do get cabin fever, I usually go to the Khron conservatory, just to see living plants, did you ever go there when you lived in New Richmond, 2 yrs ago I donated 8 Brugs to them, they featured them in their Summer Sales
Elizabeth
Hi, sorry you haven't heard of me for such a long time, but I have been very ill. I have had a sore throat for a very long time, with high fevers and I was very tired. It didn't go away. A very big abscess grew in the back of my throat. I couldn't eat and drink. Last week they cut it open in the hospital and by now I am feeling much better. Maybe because of the new antibiotics ore maybe just because of the painkillers but either way I am feeling a little better now. I try to talk a little more here but I am still very tired but I am sure that goes away soon.
Hope you are all doing fine....
Jori
what a big surprize to see you, I hope all that is over with now, it's sooo good to see you, I have been wondering where you were
Elizabeth
Jori, so glad you are feeling better after your illness. Did they take your tonsils out too?
So glad you are back.
Charleen
Elizabeth, yes I went to the conservatory several times. At the time I had no idea what a Brug was. I fell in love with a Dracaena fragrans 'Victoria', http://aoki2.si.gunma-u.ac.jp/BotanicalGarden/PICTs/Dracaena-Victoria2.jpeg
At the time it was almost as tall as the ceiling. I read later that it fell or was cut down. That was a shame. I sure hope they took cuttings.
Jori, I'm glad you are feeling better.
Veronica
that is really pretty, I can see why you like it, I have a 6ft catcus, that Blooms a beautiful Bloom, I drag it in & out every year. for just that reason, I love going to the conservatory, the guy that runs it is sooo nice, they normally have Brugs
but he loved it when I took them too him
Elizabeth
Jori I hope you continue to recover quickly.
veronica, I am so sorry all the problems you have had with your brugs are just mind boggeling. I think I have a pink charm here, just have to go look, some really nice brug lovers sent me lots of cuttings. I have learned alot here about brugs.
Mine have big leaves. I am pretty sure I see a Y on Antique lace. I have no clue what she will look like.
4 to 7 inches of snow coming this way. it did get up to 39 today, but I slept. I have been staying up all night in the garden and also sorting seeds. I really need to figure out my plans for this years gardens. I have so much room out there.
Elizabeth supersport looks beautiful!
Elizabeth, superspot looks great! Great color.
I am still recovering by the way. Still very tired and the wound in my throath hasn't healed completely.
My tonsils haven't been removed yet, luckily. I hope they don't have to be removed. But this week I have to go back to the hospital and then I get to hear what my docter thinks is best. I think I follow what she says, but I think they don't have to be removed because I never had this before in my life. What I am reading is that they are going to remove then when a persone gets this more often.
I can't wait to get my brugs in the ground outside. I think I am going to put them in bigger pots soon. Now they are in p9 pots but they are filled with roots.
Jori
I am soooo glad that you're recovering, hopefully it willl be well soon, I am glad you like Superspot, I am so lucky, I got a call from my Best Friend this afternoon, she told me to come out to pick up Brugs cuttings of one's I didn't have
she gave me abot 20 nice size one's & 7 of those were already rooted, this evening I will be busy planting those up, she, was the lady that got me started with Brugs, this Summer I will be sharing some special Brugs with her
wait till you see Mary K, Bloom, I gave her that Brug for Mothers day, that's her name, so now she gives me cuttings of it
we have been friends, 28 yrs
Elizabeth
Jori, sorry to hear that you have been so sick.Glad that you are on the road to recovery!
Elizabeth beautiful pics. That super spot is amazing! I'll bet it was like Christmas visiting your friend and her sharing all those brugs! It is so nice that you have someone close that shares your passion. We are due for more snow on Tuesday..yuck

Good to see you where have you been? it's always a treat to visit my Friend, this Spring, I am going to help her with her Garden, & she's going to help me with my wall paper, we have been trading off for some time now
I hate too hear more snow, it was trying to do that awhile ago, I should have had my Camera, I missed some wonderful
photos, on they way too her house all the trees & bushes were snow covered, it looked like a post card, I hope it's not much snow, we want Spring
Elizabeth
Elizabeth you are so lucky to have a friend of 28 years that shares your passions. My friend of almost 34 years has a passion I can't get into called gambling.
Hi Debra!
Elizabeth, I have been on the couch, most of the week, with a stomach bug, or something(yuck). Just about the time, I think it's over, I eat and it flares up again.
Sounds like a great trade off...garden help, for wallpaper help! Sounds like it was abeautiful ride to your friend's house! Right now, I think they are predicting 1-3 inches...I am soo ready for spring...
Dee
Dee we got 4" yesterday, predicting 4 more Monday. I had my mind set on early spring.
Doris
Doris, we got the same yesterday. I was thinking Spring too. I am excited that I have a bud on my "Frosty Pink", tho...lol
Stay warm, Doris!
Dee
Hi Debra
Dee
I am sorry that you have been sick, I haven't been out much this winter, so I haven't been sick, like I was last winter, last
winter I had to shovel a bunch of snow, this year I just have a path
Doris
I am sooo ready for Spring & lots of sunshine
Elizabeth
Dee
how exciting you have a bud, that's great, I can't wait to see it, Congratulations
Elizabeth
Thanks, Elizabeth...you know that I'll be posting a pic, when it opens! You have so many beautiful blooms, if I were you, I wouldn't want to leave the basement. I have really enjoyed all your pics!
Dee
Dee
I appreciate your nice comments, I really enjoy sharing my photos with everyone, I do spend a lot of time in my basement, my family has too come find me, all my Brugs are starting too wake up
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, I bet you are really excited about your brugs waking up. I really can't see a lot of difference in my brugs growth(right now), but they were all cuttings last fall and they have grown sooo much, this winter. I just remember how quickly my noid brug grew last Summer, and it looked like a dead stick, when I put it in the ground. It had lost all it leaves...lol...I really can't wait to get these planted in the ground. I'm hoping for some earlier blooms, this year.
Dee
Dee
last year, I put mine in the ground the last of April, I got all my sheets ready, just in case we had one more Frost, I got lucky it was Spring, so I didn't have too use them, the end of march I will start heating my GH, so I can bring the big Brugs up from the basement a little at a time, so it's not such a hard job to do, my family dissappear, about that time
but I hunt them down, I am hoping we both get to put our Brugs in the ground at the same time, so we do get early Blooms for mother's day
Elizabeth
Oh, Elizabeth, your greenhouse will give you such a head start, on the weather! I still haven't given up having another one, one of these days. I'm saving and waiting on the right deal....it will have to be a good deal, tho...lol...In the mean time, I'm concentrating on getting more lighting, for next winter! I know that has to be a big job, carrying your brugs up and down the stairs, but they are so worth it, aren't they? It's a major job, for me just to carry up the potted geraniums, etc, from our basement. My basement is packed full, with dormant plants, this winter..lol
Dee
Dee
it isn't so bad if you pace yourself, it's amazing the energy you have when you have a job too do, my geraniums, aren't doing very good, I have the scented one's, it's better too buy small one's at the beginning of Spring, than too take up much needed space for the Brugs, I think it's because they need lots of moisture, anyway, they aren't that expensive
that I need to overwinter them, oh I am getting a new release Brug, the end of April, it's a Georgeous double pink, I have it on reserve, as well as Plumeria seeds, I just love anything Fragrant
I bet your Basement is as Packed as mine is, oh my cat stays really close too home now, I let her out a little bit each day, if I don't she goes stir crazy, she will stand at the door, to let me know she's ready too come in, my front door is Glass with wood trim, so you can see her standing there, I am just sooo glad to have her home
Elizabeth
A new release brug? COOL!! I can hardly wait to hear about it and see pics!
My geraniums always look horrible when I bring them out of the basement. It's dark and cool down there.but I cut them back, and they usually come on fine. I usually have several pots of geraniums, setting around during the summer. I like them for their color and easy care.Seems like the blooms last forever..lol
Speaking of scented geraniums(I don't have a one), but my favorite local nursery, has gobbs of them.I think the owner must be hooked on them. She sells them from huge, down to rooted cutting size. So, if there's ever one that you are looking for, just let me know.I'm not positive, but last year when I bought my rooted coleus cuttings from her. I think if I bought 10 or more they were like 1.25 a piece, and they were nicer than the ones I ordered online, and paid a lot more for.She also has lots of neat succulents. She sells lots of different rooted cuttings. That's why I love her nursery so much!
Dee
Dee
if you ever smelled the scent on Mabel Grey, scented geranium, you would never forget it, it has a real strong lemon scent, you rub the leaves, or brush by them, you can smell it, but they have to have really warm weather & lots of moisture, like in a GH, when all my windows are replaced, I will be able too keep more things Blooming, I have this window company, where I can buy 2 windows at a time pay cash, instead of financing, all of them at once, Thursday
I got 4 installed, you can tell the difference already, I will get 2 more installed in about 6 weeks, when those are in
I can open the curtains, flowers in every room, yippee
Elizabeth
That's great Elizabeth, that you are able to get your windows put in two at a time! You'll have them all done, before you know it..Your whole house will look like a greenhouse, with plants in every room..It will be great!! I'm gonna have to look for Mable Grey, come Spring, when I visit the nursery, so I can get a whiff.I have never really taken the time to stop and smell any of the scented geraniums.
I think I'm gonna hit the sack Elizabeth. It has been great gabbing with you again!...Night
Dee
