Another view looking up at the sheer drop rock.

This slope is almost terraced with large groupings of boulders. Here's another one. : - )

Some larger pieces of granite which spalled off the big boulders above.

Spirit, is hamming it up for the camera. He is a handsome guy though.

Now what is he looking at?

Looking back up at where I just came from. Whew! (wipes sweat off brow!)

Almost to the base of the hill here. You can see that sheer drop off rock if you look for it in this photo.

Getting closer to the house, looking back at RHH.

I wonder why DH has this collection of spare tires out by the old chicken brooder house. Probably spare parts. Used to be like six dead riding lawnmowers parked there.

This is the bird that chased off the hawk at the beginning of my walk. He likes to perch on the power line wires. He is very territorial.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Another view. He'd flown to a diagonal wire, that's not me, scaring him. Another bird had flown by that needed to be driven off.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

He is not considering me a threat, thank goodness! I hate it when I get dive bombed!

The last photo from my walk on Sunday. Looking back at RHH, from the back porch end of the driveway.
I hope you enjoyed the walk. There are a couple of updates I still wanted to post. But I really need a break. That walk tired me out. LOL!

Wonderful walk. Scenic walk and
Spirit was Beautiful sitting on the boulder.
Loved the little bird too.

I had to go and buy a new ac/power cord, but I will be posting photos later on today. The sun is shining and the weeds are getting taller. Not to mention all those redwinged blackbirds followed me home!

Looking for a handout, I'm sure.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks, rrm! I know others will enjoy seeing what is going on with your walks! I know I enjoyed it. Your part of the world is very different than my chaparral/desert scrub growth. Very beautiful too.
Lot's of Little People in Cherokee Country! LOL!

That photo of San Gorgonio was beautiful. We used to hike up it in the summertime. One time we climbed to the summit and decided to stay overnight but left our stuff at the trailhead to the top. The sunset and sunrise were spectacular but I don't think that I've ever been so cold and that was the middle of the summer! Thanks for the memories SW. :)

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

You are more than welcome, doss. I do have more photos to post, but will do so later on. It can be mighty cold at the top of that mountain.
DH and I are at the beach for a break.
More when I can.

rrm,
You have a thing for making jewelry out of rocks and things. Well done! : - )
BTW, I know which rock I gave you! : - )
I have got to catch you all up on this thread. Have a lunch date with another DG'er, and if DH lets me spend time on the 'puter, I'll catch up and show you some cool rocks I found on our beach walk yesterday. : - )

I love seeing all the photos from these walks.
Makes me wish I had time to take a walk myself!
Inspires me to work harder and faster so I can have some time to walk and take some photos.
Keep it coming!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

DH is napping and I'm going to try to get you all caught up with me and my walks. I hate getting behind.
Well, this is one of my partners in slime. Really, when Spirit comes out of the farm pond he is usually green with slime (algae mostly). A half green dog looks strange. He must be embarassed because he hasn't let me get a photo of him yet when he is half green. LOL!

This is my Daisy Darling. She is half Dalmation and half lab. She is also obsessed with chasing balls and sticks. She'll burst her heart one day chasing a ball. We've had her for years and don't know how old she really is. She was supposed to be MIL's dog, I didn't want another dog. I was still broken hearted about loosing Chewie, but MIL went and asked the kids and DH, and we acquired a new dog. Why couldn't MIL keep Daisy? Well, she has this chewing problem . . .
She chews when she gets anxious.
Daisy is a sweetheart, but she is getting old and deaf and she doesn't always hear me calling her any more. She does know her way home though. Our customer's love her and since she wasn't allowed to go out and be our greeter this year, she was sad. Lot's of people were asking about her.
Warning, Daisy is a food thief. Unguarded food gets swiped. We have our own Yogi Bear, her name is Daisy Darling! LOL!
She looks so innocent doesn't she?

This is Peanut. "Cause I found a Peanut and she's half rotten.
Honest, I found her one day running down the road like she was chasing the car that I'd just passed. Silly me, I stopped and picked her up. She was only about 5 weeks old, and it was about 100 degrees out there in the middle of the day. I thought she might be a neighbors, but I was wrong.
So I kept her, and Daisy and Blessing helped me raise her. She is a farm dog. She isn't happy in the house, and knows what her job is. Right now she is the smartest dog on the farm. Daisy is going senile, poor dear, and Spirit hasn't been taught common sense yet.
BTW, her job is helping me, and chasing away coyotes and strangers. She is good at her job.
It's raining here, lovely!

On this day we want to see what the county did about the washed out area on the dirt road, so we head out that away. We see a jet overhead. We've been seeing a lot of the aid to Haiti flights from March Air Field in the last few days.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Gee, I am so impressed by the new City's concern about this gaping hole in the side of the road. (Yes, that was sarcasm.)
The county used to give us two saw horses but without the tape and the relfector thing at the top of the saw horse. I't better than nothing. I have to admit it's easier to see after dark, but I'd really like the hole fixed.

We meandered back toward the house and I discovered a bunch of these guys out back in the old walnut tree. I guess they followed me home. With so much of their food supply washed away in the flood I guess I don't blame them, but the house finches aren't happy about it.

Another 10th of an inch of rain. I have no idea how much we really have had so far. Since I started paying attention though, we've had at least 3 2/10 inches of rain. Yippee!
It's raining right now while I'm at the beach and the 'puter is taking forever to load the photos.
Just for future reference this photo was taken on Jan. 26th, 2010.

This is a telephoto shot of the sheer rock face that I climbed all the way around the other day. Whew! We aren't going that way today.

One of the trouble makers from across the road. Crossing back to his side of the road. My dogs are trained to chase off strangers.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

This another trouble maker. Sometimes they are accompanied by an older golden.
I say again good fences make good neighbors. My dogs are being kept confined now when they usually have full run of the farm.
The trouble makers attacked a neighbor's dog. If I catch them, I'll pen 'em up, and if I can't get the owners to come get them I'll have to call animal control. I really hate having to do all that.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Ah, tracking the trouble makers home where they slink under the gate to get back in their yard. Meanwhile, my dogs are being good kids, (except Spirit had to be reminded) and staying on our property. They aren't allowed to go out in the road.

Home again, Home again, jiggetty jig. That shepherd knows where he lives. The golden beat him home. This one had to stop and mark some bushes and posts.
Also a fitting end to this day's walk. I didn't walk far, just down to the gate and mailbox.
More to come! : - )

This crowd was waiting for me when I got home from a Dr. Appt. Even Ms. Lily! Oh my, we have to go for a walk. This is Jan. 27, 2010.

Spirit was insistent that we go check out the chicken pen. Peacock looks happy considering the muddy mess everything is. Gertrude the goose still misses her Dad, but she seems content and has started honking again.

Some beat up jonquils growing on the wrong side of the fence.
