they love young red rose leaves when they first come out, but they just taste everything else here, never touched a holly here though, I guess they're adaptable to whatever is around...
Countdown to spring! One garden photo per day - Part 7
Great hibiscus Victor, love the color.
Thank you WC, 'Starburst' if very nice also!
Beautiful Cherry Blossoms Jen!
Patches our youngest rabbit was born under my holly bush. Her mother made a burrow under it and darn need killed it. I supposed I should bite my tongue, it still might not make it, I moved it and it was struggling at best last fall. If it makes it through the winter i'll be darned surprised!
Daylily that I love but am drawing a blank on the name.....I think it 's 'Larry Grace' or 'Leda's Lover".

Been having a hard time to sleep lately.....things bother me and keep me awake.
Welcome to my world. I inherited "chronic worry syndrome" from my father.
Guess my mind needs something to grind away at.
Rarely is the topic of any importance.
Usually after a week of this I will exhaust myself enough that what ever was bothering me will me forgotten in the recesses of my sleep deprived mind. ^_^
Pretty, even a few petals seem dipped in pink.
I was bummed it didn't turn out double
Is it supposed to?
Victor told me last year it wasn't consistent.. but the site I bought it from had it advertised that way

Oh, I see now, it's pretty both ways if you ask me, and looks like a prolific bloomer too!!
mine was still small last year... but it was it's first year .. I had to do something with that cable
Strong climber too.
I know what you mean....i've been using MG to cover the dog fence while I wait for my clems to get big enough to do the job.
my one neighbor commented on how pretty it was last year.. they always comment about the garden & decorations.. just a nice couple

Sorry, I'm no help with worrying. My mom was the official worrier of the family, had the ulcers to show for it. She did teach me well how useless it is to worry:
If you worry and whatever caused you to worry still happens it proves all your worrying didn't stop it.
If you worry and it doesn't happen then you worried for nothing.
Allison - so many clem's are like that. They'll be double at the start of the season and then go to single. I have one that's double and single at the same time and others that aren't always double. Blame it on Victor's photos - they're all so good that even a clematis site uses them!
Pixie - I think it's Ed but regardless of the name it is beautiful. I also have Ed and just saw his photo last night when I was working on my photo program trying to condense folders - what a job!
ge - I love astilbe. It always reminds me of cotton candy and the circus.
I think worry is just a mental exercise and amounts to nothing.
victor is that chiffon a spring photo?!
sorry to hear you were up all night - better half has been sleepless a few here as well thinking about her courses for this semester, she has a writing professor who has given detailed instructions for every small communication, do not follow the rules you get a zero - college warden i think - this is a required elective she thought would be a breeze.
clem - tag is outside:)
Those electives are subtle.
I was teaching Pottery as a humanities requirement and the students revolted. They thought it was a craft class in greenware.
Too bad. They learned Pottery is an ancient craft .Well, isnt that what students are there for?To have their experiences expanded?By the time they were digging clay to use as glazes, they were liking it better.
Your wife will do great. She is steady and smart, I saw that right away at the RU.
she will be fine and ace the course, just needs some confidence, this is the typical process she puts herself through - and it will be good for her she could stand some improved writing skills - when she has me proofing, making grammar changes, and substituting words you know she might need a little improvement:)
That's for sure, Bill!
Yes, that clem gives both singles and doubles at first bloom. Second bloom is always singles. Both are very pretty.
Great DL, Celeste. Pretty astible, Jo. Nice clem, Bill. Let me know which it is.
Loving the clems, I need more of them.
Great DL as always, Celeste
Great shot, Victor
"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself"
"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life ?"
nice combo victor - will have to revert to the tag for the id - i my detailed garden journal i did not record the colors of the clems - duh! going back and filling in hosta's currently
Beautiful shot, Victor, and great colors!
Thanks. The swaying blue flowers gives it that dreamy look.
love dreamy
Well you all started early today. Lots of nice shots already.
First was pixie with a very nice soft DL. Love the subtle color blends.
JoAnn with a pretty pink astilbe that contrasts really well with the sedum in color and texture.
Onewish that clem is pretty, it may eventually double more when it grows up a little and it is way better than a ugly cable.
Bill another pretty clem, I like the pink brush strokes.
Victor that is one of my fav color combos and a dreamy pic.
Here is mine for today. J. Iris They weren't so terrific last year, I hope they will be better this spring.
Hope I see mine, yours are teriffic
Those are from a couple years ago. Last year they tried to bloom during all the clouds and rain and just never amounted to much. Hoping the timing is better this year for everyone.
I have a framed picture w/the Serenity prayer on it by my bed I say the prayer every day, sometimes more than once. It's a great prayer and it does help with some things but not with sleep. Emotions cant be stiffled with prayer no matter how much you pray or how much you may want them to be.
Very nice clem Bill.......I think your wife will do fine and tell her to bring the College Warden something sweet to change his sour disposition! Did she have a nice B-day?
Victor I love the yellow & blue combo.....but you knew I would! ^_^
Pat those JI are beautiful, is that the true color? I love it!
Jen I can almost smell that hyacinth, it won't be long now!
Dear All, I have been trying to catch up from being away since Jan 13th and it has been a delightful way to get over jet lag. Trip was wonderful, but glad to be back. There are some great combo's and some stunning shots posted here, thanks. I am keeping notes. Too many notes.
Here is a big blast picture taken last July 22 of one of our east side gardens. It was taken on my last day in our garden last summer until the fall. So, sadly, I have no pictures of what happen from July 22 to Sept. 9th. I so missed the show, but all is right again with my health so I will enjoy my late July and Aug. blooms this year. I hate to think of all the weeds that took advantage of my absence. Patti
Welcome back Patti, can't wait to see your pics.
glad your back safe and sound patti and you had a good trip! the garden shot is wonderful.
victor the clem is Andromeda (from debbie) that is supposed to a semi-double - that was the first bloom i had from it.
Very pretty! Munson genes by any chance?
