My Brown-headed Nuthatch was here.

Daily Pics Vol 278
Well, that's enough for now. It's supposed to be raining tomorrow, I'll put some more pics on then.

Still mainly black capped chickadees & tufted titmice at the feeder. Love them both, but I am wishing for other types as well.
Hack, I love your Brown-headed Nuthatch!
Those are nice ones Hack! I haven't seen my wren this week but I have heard them. Glad to say are chipmunks here are asleep right now but will be waking up before you know it and sitiing out making that loud chirpping noise and breeding...ugh!
The Blue Jays just came by and got some peanuts. Lots of cardinals and house finch.
Hack, I'm ready for spring. Hope you're right about that robin. Nice one of that Brown Thrasher. What a wonderful variety of birds you got to see. They're all cute-even that chipmunk. Your Carolina Wren is a brighter color than our Bewick's Wren.
Nanny, enjoy those pretty birds.
We had a half day of sun yesterday before the rain started again. This Northern Flicker sure seemed to enjoy the sun rays.
All beautiful shots duc! Love the Flicker and Thrasher!
Thanks pelletory and nanny_56 for the kind remarks.
Uh, oh, my lights just flickered. I guess we still got some bad weather coming. But not to worry, my computer is on one of this battery back-up thingees, that give me time to shut it down instead of it just dying when the lights go out.
ducbucln - that Northern Flicker is so pretty to me. It must like you to spread its wings like that. I see what you mean about the coloring on your Bewick Wren, still a nice looking bird, though.
I'll go ahead and post the rest of the birds I saw yesterday.
Here's a male House Finch. To me, their colors are redder than in the summer.

Hack, glad you're seeing so many pretty birds in that weather. The rain doesn't seem to stop the birds from eating here either. Just love the cardinals and that pine warbler, but that woodpecker really needs to come to California for a short visit-he's a beauty!
Adel, good capture of the junco. My juncos are eating up the peanut butter and nuts faster than I can keep it in my log. Looks like you're getting as much rain as we are.
Nice pics guys!
(From way up near the top of the thread, not sure how I missed seeing before!)
RedShouldered Hawk making the birds a bit nervous.
....
Sideways shot.
Two different birds there; first is a Sharp-shinned Hawk (long , square-ended tail; wingtips uniformly finely barred out to the tips), second is a Buteo, probably a juv Red-tailed Hawk (shorter tail, broader winged, wingtips 'dipped in ink')

Wow, I see the differences, especially in the wingtip feathers. I'd never have caught it - but I don't know hawks anyway. But this is knowledge I'll tuck away.
Thanks Resin.
