Oh, that guy would be dead meat.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh gosh, he better watch himself.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

usually just a few of his empty rolling rock can's - still no need for it

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Well, Bill. At least he's leaving the 'rocks' in the right yard!

^_^

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Maybe a stray boulder could roll on over him, terrible accident don't ya know.
You go D-nut. Someone take a vid of this okay so I can watch the chase and cheer from the sidelines. ^_^

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Good one Candyce!

This guy sounds like a real class act. Is there more to him that makes him interesting for your sister, or should we go introduce him to the fishes?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

hahahaha

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Can't wait to visit Bill! He's so easy to annoy. ^_^

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

he is a NH lifer - he did help me lug a huge quartz rock out of the woods near his house once - it was actually down a small mtn. near their home - this was after we found them and he watched me carry another slightly smaller one for a mile down the hill - he knew i was going back for the second one so he built a sling on a couple poles to put on our shoulders - so he has his good points too

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Oh, okay. No fishes, I guess.

South Hamilton, MA

Make him drink (un bottled water).

Thomaston, CT

I've laughed myself sick! The pictures in my mind are just too funny, Dnut! Can't wait to see the finished project, Bill!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - be sure to push your cart very slowly through Bill's yard when you visit. He loves that!

Bill - that bed is gorgeous! The only thing missing are 3 "fabby shrooms", to quote our Dear NuttyD!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Is un bottled the same as decanted? or more like un friend? LOL Ric

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

how about poured out lol

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

After rereading this thing a couple of times, I think you all have been eating fabby Shrooms or drinking too many Rolling Rocks! How did Derek Jeter and a wrecked house in NC end up in Wha's new garden project? The notion that Victor is moving is alarming. The notion that Dahlianut is planning on totting bags of leaves from Canada to all our houses is big news, but all right with me, if she comes bearing Callebaut. Patti

Thomaston, CT

Oooh, chocolate----and Valentine's Day is coming!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Thought I'd post some of one of my on going projects. Ric
Step away from my yews! When I prune this spring, I'm thinking of adding a garland in the top 18"s or so and see if I can maintain it. I've been in growth mode for 20+ years, they should be ready for sculpting by now, if the snow hasn't done too much damage. I also want to build an iron gate to put in the arch, more decorative than obstructive. Just possibly I can put to use some of the fifty year collection of blacksmith tools from the barn. Some were my Granddad's, he retired after 50 years as a blacksmith for the Cumberland Valley/Pennsylvania Rail Road back in the 60's. Other smithing tools were acquired by DS, Jamie, who has an affinity for handcrafted works. Time will tell. Ric
This example of topiary garland is from our 2009 visit to La Dew.

The yews are the entry for our secret garden, for which I have many plans, I'd like to share them, but it's a secret. Ric
I started this project from rooted cuttings I got from a friend!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

This is what it looks like from the backside. I'm 6' and don't stoop to walk through. Ric

OMG how fabby is THIS gonna be when I come to the NE!!! Feel free to start before I get here cuz that would be way too much ^_^ I am so terribly confused about the NC house though? huh? I'm liking your future in-law wha. He seems to be rockish. mmmmmmm chocolate for Valentines Day. I'm SO hoping for a hottie date on Valentines Day. (ps I just read this aloud to my true luv to inspire him ^_^)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool! Can't believe you did all the work in that first one! Ric Scissorhands!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

NO KIDDIN! That is incredible Ric!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Can you do one of those cool patterns on my head??? I'll grow it out a bit.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Sorry Victor you must have missed the last line, The first pic is credited to La Dew Gardens, as an example of what I want to do to mine. The rest is my work. Ric

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Ric and I were both impressed by LaDew Gardens and the documentary A Man Name Pearl. If you haven't seen it you should the Topiary is just wonderful and the man very interesting. Here is the front view of the Yew Hedge. It is actually L shaped you can either come thru the arch to the secret garden (side yard) or around the end to the path down to the barn. HOLLY

good work you guys!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh okay, I thought that was kind of hard to believe!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Very nice. I would love to have something like that here but I think keeping Bambi and friends from trimming more from the bottom than needed might be a problem. Any tasty evergreens don't stand much of a chance. No trouble with munching with the yews there?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

sounds like a great project Ric!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

HollyAnnS, That will be a great project to work on. Impressive hedge already.

I quietly mentioned to my DH yesterday why I was ordering so many shrubby things from Avant, Garden Crossing, Senenca Hills, klehm's, S&W Roses as well as orders from Siberian Iris Gardens, Snowpeak, Eflower, Touch of Nature etc and others. He said, incredulously, "WHAT NEW BED"?

I then reminded him of a vague discussion last fall, however, as I recall, his part of that conversation was silent, about my brilliant plan to connect two beds with a nice new bed in the middle full of shrubs, and things like iris, hosta, DL, lilies, alliums, hellebores, liatris, and phlox in mostly white, pale yellow and light blues. I had the vision thing in high gear, but he failed to take me seriously. He should have. Busted, but the plants are are all ordered. Well mostly. I am going to do some more damage this week..... now if I could just get a few stone shrooms it will look great.

He should be happy as I currently have no plans to follow "A Man Named Pearl" which is an amazing story. Loved seeing his work last year on TV.

But, I didn't mention to him the Japanese Maples that I have ordered from topiary gardens to add to the new bed we made last year.

Wha here is the list of Japanese maples from Topiary Gardens

Akaji Nishiki
Beni Kumo-no-su
Coonary Pygmy
Diana's Gem
Heartbeat
Koto Hime
Tama Hime

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What an order

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Is there going to be an "Oh by the way" moment? LOL You are lucky he is so interested in the garden and helps you in your plans. That is some new batch of trees. If I had to dig all those holes here it would take all season. We can expect more lovely pics of the bed I assume. Goodie! :)
