The troll bridge.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Do you think all this brush on the upside part of the troll bridge is the reason that the creek burst it's bank? Something to deal with this weekend, when it is sunny.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Other end of the bridge but the same brush choked side. That green thing is a young elderberry.

Sorry it's blurry, but DH is fond of this pack rat's nest, so I had to bring back a photo to show him it was still there.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Uh OH! Another place we need to clear. Tomorrow I'll go further upstream, but this is pretty much as far as I got today. A few more photos is all for now.

For all of you, who've really been missing it, here is some green stuff sprouting under Grandfather Oak. I had to use the flash because it was almost dark.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I know this one is kind of dark but the water was covering that bench just behind the tire swing. How come the bottom of the tire swing is so dirty? This is still under Grandfather Oak.

Last photo for the day. My faithful companions Peanut, who is in the background and is hard to see, and my boy Spirit who was having a great deal of fun bounding around. He was very good about not going into the creek. He could still be swept away as the water is still moving pretty fast. He had a blast. Also taken with the flash under Grandfather Oak.
I was pooped so we walked home as fast as I could to beat the dark.
Some very exciting weather for us CA's, who don't have real season's like y'all do back east, also just plain interesting. Hydrology in action.
Tomorrow, I will be starting a new page so my dial up friends can keep up.
Feel free to comment or to add your own photos, all are welcome here, and some of us are limited to taking our walks in our own backyards. Mine just happens to be larger than most. LOL!

Great photos, SW - loved the rainbows.

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Jules, wow, you had some rain there! Loved the tour , even with all flooded up. I agree your property will look great after all the rain . Great you were there to take the picture of the rainbow. Can't wait to see the poppies!
Looking forward for more pictures!
Hugs,

I loved the rainbow.
Rainbows hold promise for Tomarrow.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep...all in one sitting. Glad the water is going down for you guys. The rainbow reminds me of the one your Dad took and you posted on New Years 2009. God's promise of a better day in our future.

Got 4 year old Gt Neice coming today...off for now.

Wow SW! I am enjoying this thread so much! And was really feeling for you during all of that flooding!!! But boy, I bet your area is going to come alive with flowers this spring like it hasn't in decades. I'll be looking forward to photos of them.
And I love your greenhouse, I am going to dream about one like that ;-)

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

That Greenhouse is a Dream> I love the looks and feel of it.
I enjoy all the pictures. It is wonderful that your son is getting interested in
photos. Maybe he will do even more photos for us to watch him delvelope
into a picture taker...

Lovin, it, Jules---looks like it may be a few days before you're back in your pool, tho.... :-(

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Water is too cold, I do laps around it in the winter. Remember, the gh is not heated except by solar, and you all know how well that works when it is raining. I have some good photos to share, but the sun is shining and my battery has enough juice so I can show you all what's going on out in the yard now too.

Maybe sandbags would have worked to keep the greenhouse from flooding?

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm kind of tired from all the walking I did today, but until I poop out, I'll share the photos I took today on my walk. It has practically something for everyone. If I can't finish tonight, I will tomorrow.
Looking at the flattened grass, you can see how high the creek was flowing. This is the upstream view right in front of our house.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Now the water has gone down you can see to the bottom of the creek. DH is 5'9" for scale. He says he thinks the water was up between 4' to 5' high through there.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

The water is still flowing in some places. DH found an artifact. Looks like some kind of ceremic vase? No, he just said it was missing a handle.

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Another reason I don't like gophers. This photo shows gopher hole, and clearly shows the sediment flowed down this hole.

This is the exit which is only a few feet down the bank from the first photo. Scary innit?

Spirit, bless his doggy paws had to wade into this photo of newly exposed rocks. : - )
He is a photo hound.

Carolyn

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

There is a Peanut (four footed, black furry one), and some clouds for your GD, Carolyn. More fun to come.

Looking to the west. Across the creek is my house (partly visible on the right) and the old cabin. RHH is directly behind the house, and to the left is our own little mtn range. (It's not really but we call it that anyway.)

Jule's,
I love to see how spirit has grown he is such a nice looking dog and am amazed at how big he has gotten. Know you are so proud of him and bet he stay's by your side .
Am afraid my kenny would thing he a pony since she saw a minature down the rode and asked Granny why don't you have a pretty little pony like that , she wanted to go back down the rode and ask for it lol.
She Think's her Granny can just get what ever she want's just glad she a country child and the city I hope leave's her alone , want her to look for the beauty of the worls and within herself.
Suure you know what I mean!!

How about a neat looking rock that collects water. That hollow (actually 2 of them) had help developing. It's one of the grinding stones the Indians around here used to use. Now it makes a great bird bath, or dog's water dish. LOL

Thumbnail by SingingWolf
Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Maybe you should bring her for a visit. She'd like a lot of this. : - )
Someday we were thinking about putting in a fish pond over where the water is standing, but before the Euc's.

Carolyn, Spirit really has grown. Right now he is focused on the dogs across the road that are barking. He was very good when I told him not to go over there. He is learning his limits. He is learning his territory. But he is still a pup as you will see shortly. Please note how pretty he looks in this pose. It won't last. LOL!

Looking back toward the house. You can see a corner of the bee barn on the right of the photo. Pretty clouds for the little one.
