Time to start planning the menu, folks! No rush, but if we start getting too much of one thing, we'll make suggestions, so if you have something special you want to bring, say so!

So. Calif. Spring RU 2010 - FOOD
Food is the topic, but I have a question. How many people attending are vegatarians? DH and I were talking about doing a Honey BBQ, when the topic came up. We were talking about HBBQ Chicken, but we have two kinds of Honey BBQ, the original, which I sent up to Weegy's RU, and the Cajun Spicy HBBQ. I think we'll have the spicy stuff in a bottle on the side for those who want to try it.
DH comes from a vegetarian family, and we can get veggie burgers, or veggie links for those who need them. (Veggie links are like hot dogs.)
Please let me know.
Thanks!

You know we never have a lack of food, SW, so don't you guys worry about it. If DH wants to do chicken, I'm sure everyone would be pleased as punch. I'll start collecting the names of who's responded already and put them in the list above.
Thank you KC, it really helps. I'll keep some veggie food handy just in case. I usually do for ES's GF anyway.

I'll even make a bunch of Fudge so roadrunner can take some home. I heard she has a real liking for it. Have to hide from BengalPhoto though, LOL!
LOL, Bengal just promised to help so we'll put him down for the fudge!

Kathleen....antipasto for me...
Put me down for an appetizer for now, I will be more specific later. Maybe my broccoli or brussels sprouts will still be producing (that is positive thinking when I use the 'still' part, as the transplants have only just been planted), in which case a veggie dish can be made.
Put me down for some biscuits and I'll probably come up with something else between now and then. Maybe I can talk Lisa into making some of her cookies, (that isn't usually much of a challenge, she loves to bake cookies). I'm looking forward to it already.
As long as Louise will let me use her beautiful kitchen, I will come up with something.
My specialty is savory tarts. I can do a couple of them if you would like.
Your specialty sounds great to me! I'll put it on the list and if you change your mind, let me know, Rodica.
I was hoping Louise will chime in to say that I can not use her kitchen. LOL
Now I have to figure out what kind .
No, in fact she said that she's not going to go into the kitchen at all and you can make all kinds of tarts to bring......
You all know I love to cook and make unusual things. What would you like me to bring? I have so many ideas, just don't know where to start. lol
Donna
I always like your salads and being as I've already copped the recipes for the last two that you brought and I loved so much, I vote for you bringing a salad so I can get another new salad recipe...
Speaking of salads.........................Is there a layered salad on the menu yet? I'll take dibs to bring that. Perhaps you've all had that before, however it's always good and I now have the perfect container to bring it in.
Sylvia
Got you down, Sylvia.
Donna, I vote for something Italian, like pastries or cookies or ????
As long as you bring some of your famous walnuts, Donna. :O)
Donna I was going to ask you to bring a salad again . I love your salads!!! I will bring napkins cups and plates as long as Louise is willing to take me to the store :o)
OK, after blathering on about NM chile, let me change what I am bringing to a NM Enchilada casserole.
Lynda
Ok, I will bring a nice salad again. Maybe even some fancy walnuts too. lol
Yay!
lol sherry
Whoo Hooo Donna!!!
Yum !
Definitely Yum. I promise to keep my Mom out of the kitchen. I found out after last time she kept going in and adding spices to my 'tater soup. No wonder it tasted so salty!
I am so looking forward to this event. : - P
That's me drooling! LOL!

I'm still thinking of what to bring Kathleen. Will let you know as soon as my brain clears.
Isn't that normal weegy? lol
Pretty much.
I'll bring a fresh veggie tray and fresh fruit tray.
I've lost 22 pounds and my cholesterol went up! (It might be genetic.) My doc's given me 2 months to bring it down or she's going to put me on drugs. So I have to be really careful about what I eat.
Surf, check out Chinese red yeast rice if you don't like the idea of statin drugs......lots of info online.
Sign me up for bringing potato salad :-)
karen
Louise are you going to take me to the store for all of the paper goods????
My DH uses the red rice yeast (his doctor recommended it) and it seems to work for him.
If Louise can't, Marie, I will. Lots of stores only minutes away. No worries. : - )
WIB,
SW
Yay for John's DR!!!!! Mine wanted to put me on Crestor and I decided that I don't think he's going to be my doc any longer.....
No worries I am just giving her a hard time since we stay at the Tony and Louise Resort
Good for you Sherry! Dr.s sometimes think they are God, and don't look for better alternatives. I think they get kick backs from the pharmaceutical companies. Maybe not all of them, but some of them. I went through 5 Rhuematologists before I found one I like, who listens to me.
Sorry, I was off topic. Any food allergies should probably be mentioned, although with all the food folks bring, I'm sure we can find something for everyone to eat. : - )
I know Marie, but I also know she is usually busy on weekends, and doesn't always check in as often as we do with DG.

Where do you get Chinese red rice yeast (red yeast rice?)? And what do you do with it?
Of course I will Marie. No worries.
Chinese red yeast rice can be found at any health food store and even Rite Aid (haven't looked elsewhere). I did get mine last time at Rite Aid on sale...
