Those are adorable shots GP...now that they are fed and bathed...send them my way please!!

Melbourne, FL

It won't be long before they head North, Rose. Sitting here typing I can see the beautiful male at the feeder. After today I'll have three days off should be able to get some more pics.

Oh my, I'm so jealous! These sure are beautiful birds! Great photos!

I guess I just take them for granted now, yet I know there are lots of people who would love to see a Painted Bunting. As long as they want to keep visiting me in the winter, I will keep getting them their favorite millet. Thanks, Pelle and duc. I hope when they head North some of the rest of you can see them.

I am going to actually get a caged feeder like yours GP so they will feel at home when they get here. My old caged one is so ugly and yours makes a really nice picture, if you know what I mean. I even got a really tall shepherds hook for them and put it in the same spot that the Indigos have always fed in the past. If I knew when they would arrive I would be out there to welcome them with open arms.

I got mine from Duncraft, nanny. Make sure you get one without a bottom pan, so the seed falls through. Otherwise the collected seed entices squirrels.

Thanks. I'm looking outside now and there are two male Painted Buntings at the feeders along with females and Indigos. Lots' of activity....too bad it is so cloudy here, bad for picture-taking.

Just a few more pics from today.

Wonderful pictures. I wish we had painted buntings here. We usually see the first indigos in mid-to-late April and they are plentiful in the summer. I am always amazed at the variation in shade of the males' plumage. They range from nearly turquoise to....indigo!

Thanks. I'm going to miss these birds...but it gives me something to really look forward to each fall when they arrive.

I just love your photos. They look so cute in the bath and that last one is just adorable.
