Gee, I sure am jealous GP!! These birds are so pretty. I've forgotten, are they year round residents at your feeders?

Melbourne, FL

No. They arrive here late Fall and head back North around late March, early April.

Melbourne, FL

Hard to tell here, but this pic has two mature male Painted Buntings, one immature male, and two Indigos.

Nice!

I was sitting outside and saw this Painted Bunting waiting patiently in the shrubbery. I knew what it wanted, so I picked up the chair and moved a distance away.....

Sure must feel wonderful to sit outside this time of year! Your buntings are adorable!!

Marlton, NJ

That is so cute GP! They are adorable!

Melbourne, FL

Thanks. No sitting outside today or for a few days.....cold here again. Possible freeze tomorrow night.

Marlton, NJ

Yep weather is going down the tubes again. 3 day snow storm here with more snow a few days after that. Blech!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Adorable shots GP... those Buntings are just so darned cute. This has been a crazy winter...I wonder if the birds will still migrate on the same schedule.

PERTH, Australia

Sweet birds and nice shots, GP.

Melbourne, FL

Thanks, Margaret and Rose. I have a modest number of Indigos and Painted Buntings this year....I think the smart ones went further South.

Marlton, NJ

I love the last 2 shots. Very sweet!

That first shot is great of the male Painted Bunting!

Thanks Pelle. Usually he hides in the back of the feeder, but yesterday he was more cooperative.

Gorgeous!

PERTH, Australia

How gorgeous is that, GP. Is that an Indigo to the left?

Melbourne, FL

Sure is. I am seeing a LOT of Bunting activity here now, which usually means they are gearing up for the return North.

Hebron, KY

Those birds are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing them!

Melbourne, FL

You are certainly welcome. I feel very privileged to be able to enjoy these beautiful birds every winter.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

He's gorgeous!! You're sure lucky to be able to see these birds.

Testing, Testing

Hebron, KY

That's what I was thinking also, you're so lucky to see them in your yard! I'd be so speechless if they came here every year! I'm already speechless when the Indigo Buntings show up, as well as, when the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks migrate through!
