Anyone Interest in a Postcard Round Robin???
I just want to thank everyone who has already sent cards or will be sending them soon. I'd like to exchange xmas cards with everyone here in our postcard round robin. I've posted on Trish's Christmas card round robin thread, but since some of may be on different lists would anyone be interested in exchanging cards? Please let me know.
Roadrunner, I'll make the sweet potatoes, but I'm checking around about the Hanover tomatoes. I may have to start them early in the greenhouse in order for them to be ready in time. Can you ship green tomatoes through the mail?
Yes, I think Christmas cards would be great. I, too, signed up for Trish' list, but think it would be fun to send them to all the folks on this list, too.
PS Got *another* post card this week! Am I blessed or what!?! Thank you, everyone!
Hey Carol...I guess if you did ship them green and they ripened......yummy...LOL When I lived in Fla. the tomatoes were lousy...and now here in AZ I haven't been able to buy any either. I hope everyone got my post card...I sent to all on my list. I'm still looking for 3 more. Jo
as for me...I'm so happy to say I'm FINALLY getting some stuff mailed around here!!! hang in there folks, I ain't forgot!
I have four to go.. horseshoe you are one of them... but for those who had to wait sooo long there is a little something in there for you!
hugs
laura
Two to go, and Darling Shoe says "the cards in the mail"...now that sounds like another "tall tale", doesn't it? Got a second one from KendraSue...a recipe for CRAB CAKES (KS...send the CRABS...they are scarce as hens teeth out here!) I'll save it until I go visit Carol...have them with my maters and Ham.
Then there was the one from Laura....two in one...a picture of a Magpie, and an ugly old man....is she trying to tell me something? I might can clean the old man up, but he was just as ugly when I saw him on the "croc Man's" show!!..Jimmy Walkabout.hehehe
Thanks to all of you! Jo

LOL, I was gonna say the same thing, Jo - Send some crabs, too, KendraSue! I got her yummy postcard yesterday, but forgot to post it here. Between crabcakes and key lime pie, we'd have a wonderous dinner, don't you think? Add a little dancing goats coffee, or maybe or highlander grogg coffee...If you have not tried them, they're great. Even if they do have really strange names! Highlander grogg smells like maple syrup, mmmmmmmmm.
ODE TO AN OLD SHOE
Here I sit all sad and BLUE
Another day...no card from SHOE
Can he really WRITE we are you thinking?
Or is old shoe "just being stinking?
He's a right pert feller, that I will say,
And I enjoy him no end, he can make my day.
Oh woe is me and alas and alack.
If his don't come soon, I want mine BACK!!
by: Snakesphere
LOL! Enjoyed the chuckle!
Got one from KendraSue today (you are sending the craps right?lol) and one from Shoe (it was worth the wait. lol )
HAVE MERCY!! That thar Roadrunner is a poet! (Snakesphere?) Trust me folks...I mailed some out nearly first of the wk...then some more Wed or Thurs...and one today! (However, I'm right flattered I got written about! Makes me wish I'd a-held out longer just to hear some more purty words!) Never fear ya'll, the check, er postcards is in the mail. "Here I sit, bubbly-hearted...sent out my mail, am de-postcarded!" (Trust me folks "de-postedcarded" is really a word. It means no more postcards left!) I looked it up in "MarySue deBone's Dikshunary of True Southern Language". (Now on sale down at Porkchop's House of Pigmeat Cafe...if you have a dollar that's how much you can buy it for...if you don't have that much you can look a word up for only a nickel.) (I spent a whole quarter there yesterday!)
OH SHOE! You are just too much...all that talent! If we could package your "balarney" and sell it, we'd make a mint! Maybe we need a "Poet Laureate of DG" contest?? Well, since you SWEAR your card is in the mail, maybe we'll just try to mosey on up to the mailbox tomorrow......we do manage to get someone to go out of their way to check the mail at least TWICE a week!! Jo
Indeed...a Poet Laureat of DG contest is a great idea. Check the General Discussion for a new threat, errrr, thread I started called "KendraSue's Poetry Contest...(or some right perty words, some even rhyme). I'll talk to my husband about a prize of some sort. Maybe we could send crabs!!!! haha. So, Horseshoe, get out your Dikshunary, you're gonna need it. Hope to see some real clever posts. You'll find guidelines for the contest on the thread.
KendraSue
I just added an example poem for the "contest". Woo wee. I'm looking forward to your posts on this one. Should be a doozie.
KendraSue
I got a postcard from SHOE today.
Are you still sitting up and lucid?
LOL, yes, I got my card from SHOE today!! :O) Yippee!
Shoe, honey. We drew straws down here at "Menapausal Acres" to see who had to go to the mail box. Since DD/weedwalker's truck had the most gas...she was elected! NOPE...no card from SHOE!! Jo
Yeee-hawwww!!! See ,...I told ya!! I mailed 'em!!! GW got her! (and Howies!)..I told ya, I told Ya!!! RR..your's oughtta come limping in tomorrow...or MOnday. So, now it's official, 'Shoe CAN write! (just wish I could remember what I wrote on that card to GW...now I'm worried, she seems SO happy).
Jo, Crabcakes too? I see I need to keep an eye on you! lol Well I guess while the ham is soaking you and I can make a run to the pier and see if we can catch some blue crabs.
Kimberly, if I steal some of Jo's blue crab catch for you can I trade them for some plants? (hee hee)
Shoe, you better watch Jo. Next she'll be wanting you to bring some take-out from Porkchop's House of Pigmeat Cafe up here during her visit.
I'm so glad you all go the crabcake recipe card. If anybody wants crabmeat, let me know. It can be shipped on dry ice.
KendraSue
Now, Carol...I think we'll just hop on the Ferry, go over to Williamsburg, visit there a little while, then go to LIGHTFOOT POTTERY!...then we'll go down to the BBQ place and fill up on that scrumptious BBQ! They make the best BBQ I ever tasted....and don't look at you like you're stupid when you ask for cole slaw on it...like they do in Florida.
Maybe then we can go wet a line and see what the "catch of the day" is going to be! Does that sound like a plan? Jo
sending the last of mine this week!!
you have been so patient.......
"Porkchop's House of Pigmeat Cafe", huh? Guess that's about as good as "Catfish Charlie's Pizza" here in Ohio at Buckeye Lake. I'll have to get a picture of its sign some time - pretty cool. ;o) LOL
WOW! This is so awesome!! Still some coming in and it's wonderful to look forward to snail mail again, huh???? Sort of like a flash from the past!! LOL!!! YEs, send Christmas Cards!! I plan to!!! Laura your thoughtful "card" will always be with me!!!
KS- it's about time you sent your cards!!! LOL!! (I can say that- she's one of my dearest friends here in town!!)
-JSS
Yes, JSS, my cards did go out rather late. My personal assistant quit, the nerve! I had to actually purchase and write those postcards ON MY OWN. And that's just the beginning, I have had to make my own appointments for manicures, reply to fan mail MYSELF, and of all things, I have had to drive myself to the bank to cash my Supermodel paychecks. As you can tell, things have been very hectic in my life. UGH!!! Where is my Prozac?
KendraSue
KendraSue...And I thought I was the only one with that problem!!! LOL Jo
Oh Kendra Sue, how thoughtless of me!! I forgot too, that your chauffuer had quit and run off with your personal secretary!!! I warned you that it was going to happen!!!
Ah well, how have the interviews been going on hiring new ones!! Make sure that next time yur secretary can type and spell, okay???
-JSS
JSS, Yes, I do need someone who can type and spell. Guess that means you're not a candidate. DOH!!!
I have one prospect, good looking guy, smart, witty, perfect for the job, but he has this back problem. I'm going to keep his resume on file.
KendraSue
COME ON HORSESHOE, I THINK WE ARE READY FOR ONE (OR TWO) OF YOUR STORY POEMS. THERE WILL BE NO CONTEST, IF YOU ENTER, YOU WILL WIN HANDS DOWN,NOT ONLY BY YOUR TALENT , BUT YOUR NOTORIETY HERE AT DAVES.ON BEHALF OF YOUR FRIENDS HERE, I WANT TO TELL YOU ,YOU MAKE OUR DAY! KEEP ON KEEPIN' ON!
I can also substantiate 'Shoe's claim that he can put pen to paper! Wow! This has been just so much fun - been getting at least one piece of "good" mail each week! I'm getting spoiled!
Take care, everyone!
Karla
I've gotten all but 1...Shoe's came today...he doesn't write..he prints. LOL This has been such fun. Sittin' here looking the cards over..remember the first time I made pecan pie..forgot something and ended up with pecan "soup". Been to San Fran and seen the Golden Gate Bridge..if fact my xFIL tried to take it out..totaled both his car and hip. When I was a kid my Mom took my sisters and me to Williamsburg,Va..they were in the process of restoring it..ate at Raleigh Tavern..I was fascinated by the 3 tyne forks(I was little and easily amused)..love covered bridges..enjoyed seeing a bit of UK and The Land Downunder. I grew up in Philly..we had a boat that was kept on the Chester River so the cards from Kendra Sue and JSS brought back TONS of happy memories. Do the Skipjacks still sail the Chesapeake?? I have a great pic of one that my Dad took..the Eastern Shore is soooo beautiful. :-))))) Thank you all for the wonderful snail mail!!!
HOLD THE PRESSES!!!!! MINE CAME....Got one from HORSESHOE!! Right along with my Pittman-Davis and Figis catalogues, Church Newsletter, bank statement, and THREE credit cards I didn't order! A lovely old Methodist church on it(now, how'd he KNOW I am Methodist??)...Makes me think of the song "Church in the Wildwood"!!!Good old Shoe...he did some writin writin, and some printin writin. Thanks, Shoe!! Jo
I got one from Shoe too. Seein' as how he sent roadrunner a card with a Methodist church on it, cause she is actually a Methodist...I'm wondering what Shoe thinks I AM, cause mine had a picture of a 25' Daniel Boone made of Papier Mache. Never thought about it, but maybe I am just big and hollow. Shoe also brought to my attention that a Harp is just a Naked Piano. Shoe is SOOOOO deep. Had to think on that one a while to decide if that was indecent.
Thanks Shoe....my boys enjoyed looking at the card.
KendraSue
KendraSue...Shoe must of been thinking of me...again...when he sent your card...Ol Daniel Boone was "kin" to me...his Sister is one of the limbs on our family tree! (truth here).LizH's(DG) DH keeps up with all the "bones" in our family and he found out this fact. That Horseshoe is AMAZING! Jo
Whewww! And a bigger WHEWWWW!!! So glad my post cards are arriving to ya'lls places!! At least some of them have so far! Ya'll have no idea how hard it was to find some local postcards...I found a few of the old Church in a very old pharmacy owned and operated by a woman who has lived here all life (so far anyway), and she still had dusty old cards for ten cents each! Then I got a couple at our local visitor's center. Then found some (the Daniel Boone ones) at an antique store! The Daniel Boone Center used to really be something in its day but now is mostly antiques stores and still a nice little place. Now, my head is a-thinking...ya'll are getting your cards and I can't remember what I wrote on each of them! Hope I didn't say anything out of the ordinary. (Sorry about the "nude piano" statement KendraSue, I must've been feeling melodic that day!)
Shoe, on my card you had the "Letter to God", from a 7yr old...regarding purple and orange not going together until he saw the sunset! I was DESTINED to have PURPLE today. My Sister told me last night to shop today and to buy myself something purple....then your card mentioned Purple..and tonight I enjoyed the most beautiful sunset...you got it...there was purple there. P.S. Bought a new knit top today....YEP...It's PURPLE! Thanks for the inspiration! Jo
ah yes, I remember that one RR~ (Dear God, I never thought purple went well w/ orange untill I saw the sunset you made last Tuesday. Eugene, age 7). One of my favorites!!! Thanks for the reminder!
Woooooeeeeee! I got me a cute, cuddly koala beah postcard from Aussie Laura today! Yeah, I know, they're marsupials... ;o)
hahahah
well I finally sent the last of them.....
I hadnt forgotten you horseshoe..... its on its way!
keep an eye on the post!
LauraX
I think I'm gonna send out another batch, it was a pretty inexpensive endeavor. Only took me forever to actually get the cards. Look for something from me in the coming weeks. Let me know what you prefer....recipe cards or local scenery.
KendraSue
