Anyone Interest in a Postcard Round Robin???

I've gotten 3 so far. It's so much fun to go to the mailbox and find a surprise. (Even if you know it's coming!!) I will DEFINITELY get mine out today. So you should have them in a few days. Thanks to JSS, Mystic and gardenwife for putting a smile on my face. :oD

We got three cards on Saturday! Thanks to JSS, LibbyLiz & Roadrunner for the fun cards! I'm keeping them all together so I can put them on a bulletin board - think I might scan 'em and make 'em into wallpaper, too! It would be fun to have a postcard desktop theme with postcard icons for different things, wouldn't it? Maybe a little mailbox pointer...Hmmmmmm....

This is fun! Thanks to Laura, Kimberly, Karla, & Peggy so far! I can hardly wait for the mailman to come tomorrow, & the next day, & the next... :-)

I got 2 yesterday. From Ginger and Judy this is so fun can't wait to get the mail tomorrow.

Just got back from our delayed Sept anaversary trip to Tahoe - 13yrs and one month as of this coming wed! Anyhow, I was thinking about how fun it has been to be recving post cards all this week - in fact, I think it worked out just fine that some of y'all got delayed in posting them - that means I've had something (besides bills!) in the mail almost every day this week and maybe I'll get something nice in the mail next week, too! Anyway, was thinking of all of you while I was out & about in NV, so if I get my act together, mayhaps you'll get another post card from me sometime this year ;-)

Sorry I haven;t been posting much- been really busy opened our new business this week- it's been hectic- but has done very well so far! Praise God!! Sure do miss everyone in the Garden, though- feel like part of my life is void...but know I'll be able to post more next week!! Can;t wait for the crds from our friends in Australia and England!!! WE'll have to do this again after Christmas, or something!!

THis was such a good idea and I love all the cards - everyone did so well picking out such beautiful sites it makes me want to visit each and everyone - I'm sorry I have to say that next to gardening - cooking is my favorite - that is why the recipe card :-)

JSS...Now this does make me home sick...lived in Va. BEach for 13 years and Loved the Bay! My DH fished so much off the Va, coast that I threatened to have his mail forwarded to "4th Island, Bay Bridge Tunnel, Va.) Not the same bridge but very much alike.

Gardenwife...the shocks (?) of golden grain in an Amish field makes me think of fall...my favorite season. Would love to visit the Amish area again....and eat their fried apple pies! YUMMY.

and Mystic...How did you EVER know that my very favorite thing is covered bridges? I plan to have my ashes scattered at Humpback Bridge...a lovely place in the mountains of Va...just off I-64! I love the place so much that a cousin's wife painted me a picture of it and it hangs in my computer/sewing room!

I got my first ROYAL MAIL today - thanks, Lilith! What an awesome cathedral - not much like that around here. We're such a new, wet-behind-the-ears country in the grande scheme of things, thinking something 200 years old is ancient, LOL!

Got a beautiful Postcard from Lilith yesterday.Have to add another place to my to visit one day list. lol Ah Laura we will wait no problem are you getting any postcards yet?

I used to collect post cards as a kid, and getting all the lovely (and yummy!) cards from y'all has re-opened my eyes to one of the simpler joys in life. I dug through some old boxes this past weekend and found about 50 cards (and their messages) from my youth. I think I'm going to make an album (ha!ha! like I think I have time!)... ok, another item for my Someday list... in the mean time, it was fun shuffling through the box of old and new memories and friends. Thank you, JSS, for getting us started! And thank you, everyone, for a little bit of hope and joy for humanity all contained in a small piece of cardboard and a stamp.

Carol - got your card today with that neat old house, Bacon's Castle. Neat how you can see how they've modified the portico through the years. When I said virginia was a lot like Ohio, I just meant a lot of the same types of trees and stuff. But I guess it's not *that* similar, LOL!

Phooey...it's been 3-4 days since I got one..just those nasty bills..maybe Mon. will bring some FUN snail mail.

We have to leave soon to visit my mom. I keep hoping the mailman will get here before we leave - I want to see if there's any more postcards! Oh well, guess the mail will still be here when we get back.

Glad my cards are getting there ok! i now have 8 cards!

kmom246 - I got two from you! you're very generous! one was of the beautiful californian wildflowers, i have some of those californian poppies in the garden! the other is of San Francisco, the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge with the city in the distance. Thats a place i've always wanted to visit, you see it so much on the TV, but i'm gonna have to save my pennies to get there!

Roadrunner - nice shot of Coronado National Memorial in Arizona. i'm learning history now on the cards, all about the conquistadores!

Mystic - A covered bridge near Sherburne, Fleming County. that's really wierd as theres a village just next to me called 'Sherburn'

JSS - Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland. 'the longest steel span over salt water' wow, thats a fantastic picture, you're so lucky to live near such a great view!

Ginger_H - I love this home-made card, such a great idea, i shoulda thought of this myself, i couldn't get any cards of my village, so just got some great views of Durham instead. i bet theres a lot of beasties prowling around in those woods though, ginger! great photo though.

Gardenwife - Ohio State University. Wow, what a massive establishment, makes our own Durham University look like a shack! it's a town in its own right!

Judy - key lime pie, never had it myself, i'll have to make some. is it kinda like a cheesecake? i'll let you know how it turns out.

Kendra wanted me to tell everyone she's getting hers out- her modoem broke down and she couldn't retrieve any of the addresses but got them from me yesterday and is sending them now. She''ll be hooked up to a cable modem on Wednesday. She wanted me to tell all that she loves the postacrds!!!

Someone emailed me about starting a similar thingslike this for Christmas cards??? What do you all think??? I know I'd want to check with Dave first, but I think it would be okay if a master list was made- just like this one- of those who wanted to send or get cards and then the list would be sent to those who wanted to receive and send... any thoughts???
If there is an interest, I'll send an email to Dave before I start a thread about it.

are you allowed to like visit them and stuff??? I would love to write back!

Lilith....Got your card today...yes, it's Sunday here, but our mail boxes are out of our regular route.DH and I drove the 2 miles (dirt road) today, just to see if I had mail...and I did!. I love bridges of any kind..and so far, I have received pictures of THREE...all lovely. The bridge in Durham reminds me of the "London Bridge" they bought in London, moved piece by piece to Lake Havasua in the dessert of AZ, on the Colorado River. A very green oasis in the middle of a dessert....very popular with the tourist out here. Thanks to all who have sent me cards, and to those who will be sending them in the future!! wow, got another card from kmom246 this morning! lake tahoe, what a beautiful photo! looking forward to getting the others, i've got quite a collection now!

starting my new job this evening. not a proper shift, just a staff meeting for all the new starters. first shift proper on wednesday. i'm a bit nervous! wish me luck!

Yippeeeee I got 2 more today. Got a great card from Carol of Bacon's Castle and another card from Karla from Lake Tahoe just beautiful. (you really did think of us while you where there didn't ya? lol ) I love them both... Today was like Christmas got 2 postcards, my order from Dave and my secret snack trade. It was fun going to the mail box for a change and you know what else not one bill...... !!!

I *did* actually stick the post cards I found and all the new ones coming in into an album. No particular order, but I'm hoping they'll be safer than in the dusty old box they had been stuffed in!

And, I *did* think of y'all while vacationing at Lake Tahoe - but only long enough to buy a bunch of post cards! And the reason some of you got more cards than others is I lost my original list and could only sort-a recall who I did and didn't send to! Didn't want to leave anyone out! -- And -- You all have so inspired me that I sent post cards to my kids and my parents and even some of my aunties! 25 cents for a card, 21 cents for a stamp - a smile across the miles - for less than 50 cents!

Ginger_H, the "home made" card turned out wonderfully. And Roadrunner - love the caverns! I've been to caves in 4 states now - OR, CA, NM and last summer in TN. I might have to take a stroll out to AZ (I was there - uhm, decades ago - but didn't make it to any caves at that time) All the cards are so lovely. I was moaning at DH that I after years of wierd shift work I didn't know anyone in our neighborhood - and he pointed out that that my "neighborhood" appeared to be a bit bigger than a few houses on our block! I'm like Mystic...had a good day at the mail box...A nice post card from Carol7, of Bacon's Castle, Surry, Va. (I once worked one summer as a stewardess on a Hydrofoil boat that ran between Richmond and Norfolk, Va., calling in at Jamestown's pier on each trip....just across the James River from Carol. I have never had a chance to see the Castle...but have seen some of the lovely old plantations on the James River near you! You live in one of the MOST Historical areas in the USA! And I LOVE History! Anyhow, in the same mail I got a surprise package from LizH...she made me a "Sweat Jacket"......cut it open in the front, sewed a nice big collar and pockets on it from some patrotic print...and some hand painted wooden button covers. and my Reader's Digest,a FREE pair of panty hose (Like...I hope I never have to wear a pair again!) and only ONE new Credit Card application! GOOD mail day! Jo
