Rats, wc, the link didn't work for me! Probably couldn't get there anyway with my schedule today and tomorrow any way.
Sharon, I do hope to see you, it would be great, but only if your DH can manage on his own.
I'm not wild about the winds, but praise them in the summer. We usually get a nice ocean breeze every afternoon in the summer. It cools things off and we can sleep with out running the A/C all but a couple of nights each year.
So much to do! I'm working as hard as I can to get things ready for the RU. It's going to be really nice to meet everyone.
I can't wait! : - )

So. Calif. Spring RU 2010
Jules, don't overdue everything for the RU please. We know you have a working farm and your health is an issue also. We are coming to visit with everyone and not to nick pick at your gardens.....lol
We are all looking forward to seeing you again also.
Donna
Besides if we see something that needs to be done then we can do it, with your approval.
Sharon - double KC's comment (icon).I used to make sure the fridge was stocked when I left to go somewhere, even going so far as to draw a diagram of what was in fridge and where it was or make up plates with plastic wrap over them. Silly me, until such time as DH can open fridge and an arm with a hand holding a hot, prepared plate comes out, I will hear "There's nothing to eat here" and he goes out.
Jules - the good thing about having a large piece of property, is that what is missing or undone is less visible. Unless you say "Do not look at this, or that", then human nature takes over and that is the first thing we look for. LOL! You have built in and volunteer help there (MY DD expects to be paid, and your sons seem to just help you), so that is a blessing. When I volunteered to help you last fall, I did not expect I would be challenged in my own garden this spring. I like Sharon's idea of us helping when we all get there. You can show off something then tell us how much better it would be if we could just do _________.
I've often thought it would be nice to have a DG work day the way they do on the NW forum. Someone picks a small/medium project and everyone goes over to help, on a rotation. After work, there is a mini pot luck, I think. Of course, in our neck of the woods, it would have to be an early morning job! LOL
Put me in for a DG work day, I'll be there to help. I love working with other garderners and helping with someones garden would be fun. I am always working in my dads, DD's or sisters garden.
Ahem, my garden could use some workers right now too.... lolololol
Donna
Why don't we start a thread then and see who's interested?
Done! Here's the new thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1082466/

I am spread thin at this moment, I would be interested if it was at the right time. Not in the summer, since my new job has me in the sun all day, morning to late afternoon.
I like the idea though.
Worms, I am sure it will all be too overwhelming for you to come, but I would love to meet you since I talk to you all the time on the propagation forum.

DP, I think I'm going to post that one over the boys mirror. Where they have to see it! LOL!
Round up news. Except for the dreaded Euc's, so far everything is pollinating right now. The pine and the oaks that is.
I am not doing anything much except for running around and telling DH's guy what not to kill. My GS is coming over to help me weed out the gh.
Spirit is breaking the mums, that I just transplanted. So DH is going to help me screen him away from the fuchsia I have yet to transplant.
I don't think my Dad's POB made it through the weedwhacking, so I'll get some seed and probably just buy a new plant too. I am sort of impatient sometimes! I seem to have everything I need for hosting the event. Especially with people who aren't going to give me the white glove treatment. I can guarantee, five minutes after I clean it's going to be dusty again. It's just the way it is.
I know you'll all pitch in and help out. I like the idea of a work day. I'm game. I might only be able to move one brick at a time, but I get the job done!
I don't care if you help your self to some the jade plants (the ones outside the fence need trimming back anyway!) and candy apple, not to mention the Society Garlic and good lordy the seeds I have! Aack! I'll never plant them all! So they're going in a help yourself basket.
I'm happy to share what I have, even if you have to wait a bit. Isn't that what gardeners do?
As far as the set up for the food and picnic tables, etc. DH will bring the tables up, right after he mows. We have a nice shady place in the front by the old cabin, and another place under the walnut in the back yard. We also have the Patio breeze way, but I'd planned on serving the food there. For smaller groups there is always the gh, the front patio, or the courtyard.
I just want to get the courtyard furniture, and gh back up to snuff. I guess I've growing pollywogs in my fountain. Sigh!
We'll need a place to put plants that need homes and plants that have found homes too. Do you think we need name tags? LOL!
I am so looking forward to this RU. : - )
I hope that if I've forgotten something, that you'll be a pal and let me know.
Thanks,
WIB,
SW
DP, that is all I can do at this moment is say it sounds good, the doing is not in the cards at this moment. I am a slave to my seedlings and lack of watering systems on timers or none at all. Sorry.
If my h gets this up and running, it sounds like a great idea and an excuse to hook up and help someone.
I actually posted that quote on the wrong thread. It was supposed to go on the "Thought for the Day" thread. I had several tabs open at the same time and went to this one by mistake.
Can you bottom water some of your plants, hellnzn?
I've put together irrigation systems by myself. Maybe we should help you with that? Wait, that would be another thread that was started like yesterday. We plan on getting together and helping each other tackle projects that we can't do alone. Check it out, okay?
DP, I kind of figured that's what happened.
Still hoping to hear from more people about attending the RU! I have some surprises!
We'll all have a grand time.
WIB!
SW
It is alright DP, even if you had meant that, ya know how it is, sometimes people say they want to do something but flake later. I would rather be up front by saying, I like the idea but could not right now.
I would love to have help with it, but God willing my h will have it up soon, since his union is locked out of his job and he is home at the moment.
Thanks though. My anniversary is Memorial weekend and I better have water on timers by then or there will be no joy in WhoVille.
I hope people come to the RU too. It is always so fun. I am so excited about it being so early this year, my plants still have time to adjust to the temps and settle in. I get so many palpitations when I come back with all the plants from the RU. It is the best. About as good as getting plants in the mail and seeds too.
HEY YOU ALL! GUESS WHO WILL BE ATTENDING THE ROUND UP?
I received a DMail last night from MIGUEL, who as you know is one of our new DG Administrators.
Earlier, we were joking about getting started on Indian Time, somewhere around noon. After reading Miguel's DMail last night, I'm going to have to move the time forward a little bit.
Here's why. Miguel will be accompanied by his DW and his son. His son (9 years old) has a game at 2:45 pm. This means he will have to leave here by 1:00 pm, to make it to his son's game. I wouldn't do this to you all, but I feel that promises to kids must be kept.
So here is what I came up with.
I'll be setting up by 10:00, actually most of the hard work will be done the day before, except making the coffee. (Please don't make me make the coffee! I make mud!)
At 10:30 (before it gets too hot), I will be leading a walking tour of the farm. DH will be giving hay rides off and on all day.
We will be eating at Noon, and that will give Miguel and his family, a chance to eat before they have to leave.
The rest of us can stay on longer and have a good time, but if you want to meet and welcome Miguel, you'd best arrive early. Bring your camera's!
I hope that this doesn't cause anyone any hardship, remember, I'll still be here all afternoon, if you can't make it earlier.
What say you? Will this work for everyone? I couldn't pass up this chance to meet Miguel, and since it's just a slight tweaking of the schedule, I hope everyone can still attend.
Please let us know as soon as you can.
Now, I know this will be the best Round Up we've ever had here! (LOL)
Please don't forget to sign up if you are attending!
Walk In Beauty!
SingingWolf
Waaaahhhh--wish I could be there. Can't wait to hear all about it!
YIPEE....I willl stay behind on the walk....er....I will guard the chocolates!!
It will be so nice to meet Miguel/Michael...and he's in for a treat too...meeing all of you!!
*hmmmm ...if he brings chocolates we may keep him* Jo
It's good for me.
I won't be able to make it to the RU after all...my apologies.
Oh no, you will be missed. What's more fun than us?
Say it ain't so, wcgypsy! I'm really sorry that you won't be able to attend, because I will really miss you. I was planning on pumping you for your knowledge on salvia's.
Hope that you are okay.
WIB,
SW
Oops, forgot to say, I was kind of hoping you'd guard the chocolates, Jo, but isn't that like setting the fox to guard the hen house? LOL!
WIB,
SW
I am begining to think you have something against me WG!!
That is awesome that Miguel will be there!!!
Well that will be nice to see the man, who has spawned so much controversy among the ranks. lol
I am up for that though.
Not a problem for me Jules.
Hey everyone,
I can't wait to meet you all and feel incredibly honored that I was invited in the first place!
I'm looking forward to seeing the farm Jules and learning from all the long-time DGers.
(and by the way, I go by Michael in the real world. :) )
See you all in April!
Michael
OK, this thread is way too long, so please continue over here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1083309/
I've updated some of the info, so read the first post again and let me know if I've missed anyone who is coming.
Jo, are you and Amy going to be able to make it? You'll have a hard time guarding the chocolate from where you are!
