You are so right, if it's good they take it off the market, if it doesn't work they just try to make it better and end up making it worse.
I've never heard of vinegar and water, I'm going to have to try that!!
So I was watching TV in bed last night surfing as there was nothing on and didn't want to start watching something that was TVOed as I knew I would doze off in the middle of it. I got stuck on this infomercial of the H2OVac, have ya'll heard of that? It was nuts!
Also, what happened to those knives they used to sell back in the 80's that would cut anything, had a Chinese or Japanese name, I don't remember, but Alton Brown was bagging on them last night on his show Good Eats on The Food Network. Do ya'll know what knives I'm talking about?
I think everybody knows this but me...
Yeah...Ginsu Knives!!
yes, do try the vinegar/water. It doesn't stink and very effective.
This is a good product.

I was at a restaurant where they use table linens. I was eating like a child and suddenly my blouse was a horrible mess. This lovely waitress who saw me make a mess, walks away and quickly returns w/ one of those pencils. She told me that in order to save a little money, the wait staff uses the Tide pencils to clean small smears on the tablecloths, thus changing them less frequently throughout the evening.
As to my blouse, it didn't totally clear the smear, but it dulled it enough where I could walk out of the restaurant w/ some dignity. Also, when it was time to wash it, the stain came out easily and completely. I recommend it.
I've heard those Tide pencils do work good.
Ginsu Knives! That's it! Did anyone buy a set or know someone who did?
I had no need to cut cans or bricks so decided against Ginsu knives, lol. But I did see some on our craigslist in the collectors items section.
This is a pretty funny thread -- we just all want to BELIEVE !
Guess I'll cross the yoga toes off my list, I was really thinking of getting those; I'll put my money to better use buying more seeds!
Has anyone else tried an "Eggstractor" (not sure that's how they spell it). I'm the deviled eggs queen in our extended family so one of the egg lovers gave me one of those -- when I tried it I couldn't seem to push down hard enough on it (honest, I'm not that frail), so had DH try it and the egg yolk went shooting off one way and the shell the other way. Now I just use DH for "eggstracting" -- the old-fashioned manual way!
Items mentioned here remind me of the wacko things that used to be touted in the holiday catalogues - back when only sleazy type places mailed those out. Those catalogues nearly offered Dick Tracey watches - and yes, we wanted to believe!!!!
I am curious about the Brownie Pan that has that rack to make perfectly cut brownies every time. I have seen it at Walmart, but at $20 a bit expensive just to test it out. lol!
Fixing my typos!

Yeah, thats like those metal looking back splashes for behind stove nanny, Just peel and stick. 20 dollars for about a 2'x2' square, don't think so!
Gosh, you can buy the 2 sided tape in all kinds of thicknesses & widths for just a few bucks and a piece of sheet metal is real cheap too..
Yeah Juney they play on us that have no color sense to decorate such things wink
LOL! Too true!
You all are funny...LOL!
Think I am gonna have to try that brownie pan....maybe soon they will be saying "But wait if you order now, we'll double your offer! Just pay shipping and handling". Of course ya need to eat a lot of brownies to need two pans....grin

Wait, Moon! I wanted to get DD this for Christmas, and decided against it. Although they're now offering 10 free stencils, I read bad reviews and decided against it.
I linked the website, but google it, Oh Queen Google. Bad reviews.
Just saw a commercial about buttons with backs that you can tighten or loosen your pants, get four and a under the bed shoe holder for 10 dollars, and if you order quick they will throw in an extra four buttons for free. Now folks there is a real deal :-)
ha ha, yeah but you still have to get the zipper zipped, right?? maybe you just do that button, leave the zipper down and get a long shirt....
Remember the Pasta Pot with Drainer lid?? I had one! Musta gone bad quickly, I haven't seen it in a long time! I usually hang onto pots awhile even though the teflon starts chipping.
I will certainly check it out Smiley. Thanks for the info. Not like I need another pan to clutter the cupboard with...grin
I was going to get it for DD for purely selfish reasons ~ she's always using my glass pans for taking "birthday cakes" (or brownies) to her friends. I drive her nuts until I get it back.
Figured if it was hers, she wouldn't leave it somewhere. I was bummed about the bad reviews.
Anyone know anything about the Direct Buy Membership?
They claim to save you thousands, but from my research of them it is expensive to join.
Direct buy has come up before. It is very expensive to join I think. My understanding was that unless you were doing a major renovation or remodel it wasn' worth it. Will see if I can find the thread.
How about the Emery Cat -- a scratcher that lets them file their own nails -- has anyone tried that? I was thinking about getting it, but as much as my cats like their other scratcher things they'd probably soon have their nails worn down to bleeding nubs. Maybe I'll just keep trimming them the old fashioned way!
Thanks nanny
Tempted by emery cat--I want something for my one who loves to shred an old foam mattress. I am tired of chasing little pieces of foam. Wonder if Pet Forum has any Emery Cat comments...
I'm planning to get the Emery cat for my two cats. Beats them using the sofa. Or my leg.
The scratchers that are made from corrugated cardboard are awesome -- really the only thing I've ever bought the cats that they consistently use. I have a round one with a track for a ball, and a couple more that they use as scratchers/lounges -- I'll get a pic tomorrow morning!
I've been buying the ones made of corrugated cardboard. The only problem I have is that the cats shred them and I have to sweep up everyday after they use it. So I think the Emery one will be better and less mess.
I discovered that our dog, who has a fit when I try to cut his nails, doesn't mind me using a emery board on them. I'm wondering if there's such a thing as an EmeryDog. If there is, is it noisy?
pastime if you find one let me know, having to take my old basette to get nails clipped once a month since she doesn't dig anymore. Can't believe how fast her nails grow now.
Here ya go Ladies...AS SEEN ON TV...lol
http://www.asseenontvguys.com/index.asp?txtSearch=peticure&PageAction=PRODSEARCH&gclid=CNSU1Y7zyZ8CFR6dnAodujGVzg
It is called Peticure and it is not terribly noisy...and it does work....but, DH says just get a dremel tool with emery hubs and you have the same thing and can use the Dremel for other things....think he just wanted a new Dremel, so he got one for Christmas....still hasn't trimmed the dogs nails though....LOL
Pastime - have you seen the "PediPaws" ? Supposedly you just stick their toenail into it and the rotating grinder files it down. I think it might work ok if it was used often, but a friend said they tried it on their dog and the nail actually got really hot. And Reader's Digest recently had an article where they tried out some of the "as seen on TV" things and rated them, and said that every dog they tried it on was really scared of it. So I guess that doesn't sound like the best option! Maybe glue some sandpaper on a board and train the dog to scratch on it for a treat or something? LOL, maybe I'll try that myself, it seems like it would be a lot less hassle than clipping their nails is!
Sandy
I had no need to cut cans or bricks so decided against Ginsu knives, lol.
I never thought of them being collector's items. Wow!
LOL!! I'll just chop bricks in half with my hand LOL!! Yea Right!!
I don't cut my cat's nails, I've trained her to not claw on anything but her simple carpeted cat scratcher and she slaps rather than claws when she plays, and as far as toys the only thing she will play with is a wadded up piece of paper.
I've been wondering about that brownie pan myself, but we don't eat enough brownies to worry about it, I seem to slightly overcook them when I do bake them.
I never heard about the thing for inside the oven, aren't most ovens self or continuous cleaning now anyway?
I just remembered, after my grandmother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's my grandfather couldn't leave for hardly any length of time so he started buying stuff from infomercials.
Remember back about 20 years ago, that black thing that would thaw meat really fast? He bought one and it worked! And he bought a microwave bacon cooker, that did ok too! I'll think of other things I'm sure. hhhmmm wonder where all of those things went... bet my mom has/had some of them.
Crissy...we have one of the Wonder defrosters and it does work. Someone gave it to me as a gift, so ya just gotta try it....grin. It thawed frozen chicken breasts in about an hour or so.
Thanks on link Moon, but think I'll pass on that one, she won't let me near her paws, so guess its easier to just take her to someone that can do it fast lol. Weed, cute fat cat, looks spoiled rotten lol. Crissyr I still have the old stove that I have to clean, they are becoming obsolete. Weed, I heard the same thing about pedi paws.
Pedipaws: my two dogs were scared of the noise and I got uneasy about using it when the pooch's nails got hot. Coudn't tell if dogs felt the heat or not but I could tell the noise upset them. I have a pet rabbit and you have to trim their nails. That is always a nerve-wracking chore, but I think the pedipaws will work great w/ bunny b/c their nails should wither to nothing pretty quickly, as opposed to dog nails which are so thick. It's not time to use on bunny yet, but I intend to do so. Then again, he might also freak out w/ the noise. I will report. In the past I have used a "rough" emery board on the bunny and that has worked great. But the trick is that you have to trim often so that the process goes by quickly. By often I mean every 4-6 weeks.
Pedipaws has this mechanism that supposedly stops before it reaches the quick, so I don't know if a dremmel with an emery attachment would be as safe for the pet. If your pet sits still long enough for you to monitor how close you are to the tender part, then yes, I think a Dremmel would work.
Pedi Paws got great reviews here. Our local Fox station has this Deal or Dud show every Thursday, you email what you want to know is a deal or dud and if they have enough emails about a product they'll go out and test it, it's a different product every week. They tested Pedi Paws and everyone loved the product, said it worked great!
What a big fat rotten cat!! Very very cute!!!
PediPaws works....you just need to have the claws trimmed professionally first, then every 10 days to 2 weeks use the Pedipaw. That way, it is just a small amount to remove and the unit nor the claws get hot. I would turn the pedipaw unit on and lay/hold it next to the dogs every now and then for a few days....they got used to the noise and it didn't scare them.
Well my dog is deaf but bet the vibration would freak her out. Good to hear its a good product, may get brave and purchase one :-)
In that case, you lay it next to her so she can feel the vibrations...and gradually touch her with it so she learns it won't hurt her.
