2010 Philly Flower Show, Passport to the World, 2-28 to 3-7

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

OK. Should I make the reservation for 8 people at 7:30?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Just heard that we are to expect more snow on Wednesday. We can watch this and cancel any reservations if we must.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Oh come on (snort) when is this snow going to stop. I'm ready for spring. LOL
It is snowing here right now. Hard to tell how much snow we will get as it is blowing so hard that you either have bare ground or 3ft drifts. LOL
I think going ahead and making the reservation is a good idea we can cancel if we have too.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Maggiano's has only 6 and 6:30 open at this point. Let me know what to do.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Is anybody else having trouble with DG running slow? It's taking forever for pages to load for me. Terri the earlier time is OK for me. I knew they would be busy.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

I will make the reservation for 8 of us at 6:30 and will change it if someone decides otherwise.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Good strategy.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Wow, they must be really busy. They want everybody to be "in the building" by 6:30 so that they can honor our reservation.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I wonder if we could just grab cheese steaks etc. across the street from the convention center at 7:30... ?

The crowds thin out so remarkably after 4 that we think we'd like to have some more show time that evening. If everybody is just really up for Maggianos at the earlier time, Terri and I were thinking that we'd join you but maybe not stay for the entree, just have drinks & appetizers and then head back to the convention center.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Holly, Ric, Terri and Critter are in for cheese steaks at 7:30 across the street.

Teri and Bob are up for either the above or 6:30 at Magiano's

What about Stormy??

I can't believe I forgot to check for this thread!

I was at the show today (I'm a special panel judge
for the rock garden & primula societies). Its wonderful.
As usual. Be sure to check out the Rock Garden Society
display - we won best in show, plant societies. (I
had nothing to do with it except to be a member of the
chapter).

I'll be at the show Tues & Fri so its sounds like I'll miss
you guys!

If anyone is going Fri, pls be sure to stop over at the
Rock Garden Display between 10am and 2pm. I'll
be "baby sitting" and would love to meet fellow DG'ers.

I'll post pictures as a preview tomorrow.

Tulips

This is a unique display. It's suspended by thin fishing line. The blue is the sea, the tan is the sand, the greens are grass and trees and the white are the snow covered mountains.

It took the designer 10 hours to hang these yesterday

Hi Mitt, Thanks so much for posting these. Did you enjoy the show? Those people do look real. Now for the big question. Did you see any Iris??

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

That one is truly beautiful.

Philadelphia, PA

Orange and red everywhere ;-)

Great pics Mitt, I'd love to get loose in there before or after show hours to do some photography and have more time for detail. I worked a couple of setups there years ago and loved browsing after the labor was done. To witness the transformation that happens to all that space is amazing, to say the least. Ric

I saw some irises. But they weren't bearded

Wow, look at those Amaryllis with the roses, tulips and daisies. They make the neatest combinations at these shows.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Mitt, Those sweet little things are beauties. Do you know what kind they are?

Philadelphia, PA

Thanks Ric. I can't take the credit for the pics. It's the camera I just point and click.

Quite a few little ladies had some monster cameras today. I guess they were professional photographers judging by their equipment.

Equal time for the Phillie Phans

Everyone should call Campbell HQ Monday morning and tell them to get that Yankee baseball hat out of Philly!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Mitt, Sorry, I might be able to catch a few hours of the show. Yes, Please do come back with more photos. I like that Ice House. It's really neat!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice Mitt thank you for sharing those!!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Now I'm even more excited about going this week -- thanks, Mitt! Is the Rock Garden Society's display near the main entrance again? If so, I was thinking it might make a good meeting place... small enough that you can find people as you stroll around it, and interesting enough that you don't care if you're waiting there for a few extra minutes. I loved their display last year and am looking forward to studying it again!

Philadelphia, PA

Good morning Gang. I'll share a few more pictures with you if you don't mind

There was a display of porch and front yards. I found this in front of the pink house. I'm not sure if you can see it but the child statue is holding the tray loaded with pink ribbons and a cooler full of bottled water
