Sports Talk!!

Long time coming for those fans. They were horrible for so long. Used to call them the Aints, and the fans would wear paper bags over their heads to the games.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Plus many fans burned their season tickets one season in the parking lot. Patti

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

That had to be a live performance Victor. No way Daltry ever sounded that badly before! I still enjoyed them

I thought it was a really good game. Remember when all Super Bowls were boring? There have been good ones lately.

Very happy for the Saints, New Orleans and Drew (he is the real deal). Sorry for Peyton (he is also the real deal) and D. Brown (Uconn grad)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Like I said, I didn't watch, Dave/David, so I don't know.

Remember the days when the game took place early in the afternoon? No 8 hour pre-games, no multiple multi-media shows. Halftime show was a college band or some guy named Earl. Bring it back! And get rid of the dang two-week break. If I'm elected commissioner...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

lol

Yeah having it start so late is annoying, kids have school the next day. I did like when they had college or even high school bands to the half time show.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

People in the seats used to get colored squares to hold up as part of the half time show!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I remember that!

Thomaston, CT

Loved that! The game was good, glad D. Brown got a couple of 1st downs. Loved that photo, Patti----wish I could have seen the pin collections up close. Good Big East battle tonight---Vill & W. Va.

South Hamilton, MA

I sat in the card section 'Badger Block' at the U. of WI. 50 yr. line seats, worth it for a little work during half time.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Is it baseball season yet?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Soon!

South Hamilton, MA

Olympics first.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Lousy year for SB commercials.

Thomaston, CT

I liked the one where the dog puts his bark collar on the dude teasing him---but did those folks see themselves walking around in their undies? No amount of money would have been enough for me to do that!

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Yeah, and those people walking around in their undies weren't exactly built like underwear models either. That takes some serious courage . . . or a total lack of self-respect.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I thought the Favre at 50 one was cute.

South Hamilton, MA

actors in undies are paid the going rate. Jobs are needed!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Stiil scary to look at!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Brief encounters?

South Hamilton, MA

ugh

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The SB beat the final episode of MASH as the most watched tv event ever in the US!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i thought the commercials were lame for the most part - farve might have been the best one

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The Mets are cutting their center field wall in half! Duh.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

when will they move in the left field wall for Bay?

Thomaston, CT

Whoa--how did I miss that one?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just announced this AM, Robin. Maybe the pitchers can throw from 40 ft??

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Now maybe David Wright will be able to hit a home run again? Nah, who am I kidding?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

DS' basketball team did not win a game all season until the last game. They then kept winning in the tornament beating the 3rd and 2nd best teams in the league. Tonight they beat the formerly undefeated "best" team to win the championship!
What fun!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Cool Dave!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is cool - just needed some confidence i guess - how did the make the tournament with only 1 win?

I will guess - could stay in 2nd place in points till the win put them #1. Basically in any sport 2nd place is the 1st looser.

Thomaston, CT

Love the underdog---guess that's why I'm a Mets fan---yeah, saw the centerfield wall article in paper this morn---it might help---also read that K. Hernandez is giving 1st base lessons to D. Murphy---can't hurt! Am afraid UCONN men are going to get creamed tonight.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I worry about Uconn too. Maybe they will turn it around like my son's team.
wha, its an eight team league. Everyone makes the playoffs in this10 yr old league.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great, Dave.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks everyone. I think the parents have as much fun as the kids. We feel the pressure more than they do!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True.

Are you home, Dave?

Dave, the same thing happened years ago with my daughter's hockey team. It was a brand new girls team - she had played on the boys team for years and they finally got together a girls team. They only played about 8 games that first season, and lost every one - although they has so much fun they really didn't care.

Then we entered a tournament - and won a game! We were all so happy, and would have been more than satisfied with that one win. But then they won the next round, and the next - and ended up winning the tournament! A cool little Cinderella story, and lots of fun!
