Sorry for your losses, Victor. I agree with what you said Pixie, the spouse is never the same.

33 degrees here and a few inches of slush, I have pretty much given up on snow this winter! (haha I wrote mush instead of much by accident at first)

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Variable gusty wind. We have had a little of everything here. Rain ,sleet, snow now looks like light freezing drizzle, just about done I think. No accumulation but nice ice/slush layer on the drive. Temp is 30 degrees.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, ladies. Yes, Celeste, that's how I see it too. Still a shcok when you see it unfold in front of you though.

46 and sunny.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

36 and cloudy. Supposed to warm to 40°.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

43°, wind N 9mph, windchill 34°, mostly cloudy

I agree w/ Pixie, regardless of whether the remaining spouse is male of female the effect of having one party pass on, after decades of companionship, is devastating.

South Hamilton, MA

Snowy mix. Power out from 9 am until 2. My fingers are a bit stiff. Fireplace is in use but the computer is upstairs. Glad that there were not any Dr.'s appointments today.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Well temp has crawled up to 31 degrees. Hoop dee doo! Off and on snizzle and snow flurries. Grey and cloudy and just plain crummy. Lots of outages but so far lucky here. Glad you got yours back irisMa. Nothing worse around here than no tv for Mom and no internet for me.

South Hamilton, MA

I had to read upstairs (away from the fireplace warmth) with more light from the west window.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

we ended up with 4-5" of wet snow here - looks nice stuck to the trees - did have to shake some off a few of them so they could stand tall again

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow and it's so gorgeous here! About 47.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank you Victor!
Actually im really glad I put my tree up on the back deck. Decorated it with homemade birdeseed and stung popcorn & cranberries. The birdseed I molded into a wreath and stuck in on the very top. Then I took large nuts such as hazelnuts and stuck a needle tru w/thread and placed the nut in a mini-muffin tin. Spread the birdseed mixture under and over the nut leaving the string expposed. Let it dry overnight and I now have birdseed ornaments hanging on the tree.
here's the wreath....there are 3 birds eating off it.

I would like to do that, but the town will only pick up (and compost) your tree for a certain time after the holidays.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We will burn in on the burn pile in the spring.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We can't do that.

"Farm living is the life for me
Land spreading out,
so far and wide
Keep Manhattan,
just give me that countryside.
Goodbye city life
South China we are there!!"

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

loved that show

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice pics and cute birdies really seem to like the tree ornaments. We don't have a live tree anymore since the kids left home. Used to take it out back by the feeder to give them some shelter during the winter. Need a permit here to burn and only on days FD says okay.
Bill your welcome, I sent all my share of snow up there for you. Enjoy! LOL

South Hamilton, MA

DH cuts off the Christmas tree branches & uses them as garden mulch. Town burns, but not ours.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, we too need a permit to burn.

South Hamilton, MA

Burning with permit up to the first of May.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

we need a permit too - i stopped getting them years ago - no one seems to mind

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Nice use of the tree, Celeste. We did that every year in our Connecticut house. We usually had 2 trees and they would stay on our deck filled with birds until spring. I would paint the limbs with beaten egg white and then pour birdseed on them. The limbs would be covered with the seed and the birds would flock there. I especially love your wreath!! In the spring, Hank would pull the trees into our woods for cover for the small animals from predators. I miss being able to do that!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
