We can get bitterly cold weather for about a week in Feb. as well. I think that single didgits are the rule all day today. Feeder is busy, although not as much as I would think that it would be. Must still be good supplies of berries around from our viburnums & bayberry. Poor rhodie leaves are really limp.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 60
Wow - cool, Patti!
20 and clear. Slight breeze.
18*F last night, at least the infernal wind died. Old Sol is kicking today, with a light breeze. Might be a good day for the state farm show, it'll remind me things do grow around here. LOL Our little feathered friends are enjoying the break. Ric
31°, windchill 19°, wind NW 9mph, Sunny
29 now the low was 12
Most of my stuff weathered the cold last night, except for my 2 brugmansias. They look really bad, flowers and leaves. Tonight is supposed to have more risk of damage, so we'll have to wait and see. Then it looks like we may be out of the freezing temps for awhile. Karen and her Dad arrive today....hope it clears up soon for them!
Stay warm y'all!
Louise
Keep those hats and boots handy!

YAY! Mini Ice age! Yipee! ... I have to buy a red sled now! (lol!)
Radio Flyer?
Anyway, it's supposed to be in the 30s all next week, which is better than this bitter cold. Europe isn't used to this & we are & have snow plows etc. & barns instead of leaving animals outside. By the way, I wish such articles didn't use such small print!
Yep! That's it! ... but I want a cushioned seat built in! lol!
Victor, I believe the sleds were Lighting Guiders and made in Duncanon, Pa. I have a couple of them in my barn, one of them dates to the 30's. Ric

18 now .. high of 33
Well starting out slightly better at 6 degrees today. Light wind and it should be sunny and even make it up to freezing or a little above.
9 this morning and moved to 11 by the time breakfast was done - will wear an extra layer xc-skiing if it stays like this
Cool, Ric!
19 and clear.
19 here too, they are saying chance of flurries tonight.
25°, windchill 15°, wind WNW 7mph, partly sunny
I am in Vt. It was sunny, but now partly cloudy and about 30*. The Baker Brook is flowing with that wonderful green ice forming along the edges but from the bottom first. I love that odd thing when the ice forms from the bottom first and glows an eerie green. Patti
Patti, sounds like you could get some neat pics of that ice.
Clouds are starting to roll in here.
Cloudy here now too. Yes, let's see the green ice.
Ok, I will try, in between packing. Patti
28° and snow flurries just started. We could use a break!
Sorry to hear that jumper, you guys are getting slammed this winter!
28 and cloudy here, but 28 is good.
16*F This AM. Brrrrrrr! Ric
supposed to be getting warmer this week--believe it when I see it. Get H1N1 shot at town clinic tomorrow. Supposedly too old for their priority, but without catagorizing myself as that, mentioned that I had both asthma & diabetes & got an e-mail this morning that I am on the list. 10 yrs older than their list for that. Come on people, get real!
wow that's terrible
Now it's open to everyone. There is a glut of vaccine now. They're so pathetic. When they were scaring people, there were no shots. Now that it's been shown to be overblown, there are tons and no one wants it!
Get my shot at the town clinic tomorrow. You had to sign up on line. One of the priorities in addition to children & care givers was for people up to age 64 with medical conditions including asthma or diabetis. I told them that I couldn't be prioity as while I had both conditions, I was 74. No comment but the gave me a time for tomorrow afternoon. guess they'll let us old cats live for awhile.
I just got my yearly checkup last Friday and I refused them both, I'm not as exposed to it as someone who takes the train or subway everyday or someone who has a desk and everyone uses my phone, coughing in your face, etc. I figure if I keep myself healthy and use my common sense, (wearing the proper clothes and not doing anything stupid), I'll be ok, so far so good...
28°, windchill 25°, wind W 5mph, cloudy, *snow flurries expected overnight.
I had the seasonal flu shot in Sept. Dr. who takes care of the asthma gets twitchy if I don't get it. supposed to be warmer tomorrow, 30s maybe?
28 now .. high of 32

Sun has replaced the clouds from overnight. Temp is 30 degrees and should break the freezing mark. Mini Jan. thaw coming later in the week but only a couple of days for this one.
Beautiful out side here in Manhattan. No thermometer in son's apartment. I guess I should go get him one. I would say above freezing, and a beautiful day. We are off to the lionel train show at Grand central, Thanks to a heads up from Victor. Leave in the morning for Summer. Patti
Heat wave we're up to 32*F and sunny, already! LOL Ric
Hope it's still going, Patti!
30° and stopped snowing for now. It was snowing this morning @ 6:30 am as I was leaving for work.
