Frigid weather coming again this weekend!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 60
Wow! That photo reminds me of the year in Conn. that we had to hire a pay loader truck to come in and take some snow away. We had a 875' driveway that went between 2 ponds, and there was nowhere left to put the snow when the plow guys came. It was also very dangerous where the driveway met the road. The snow was banked so high, you had to pull out into the road to see if any cars were coming.
Is that your house, Victor?
Ha ha! No - it's from an email I received.
Whew! Stay tuned.....nothing would surprise me from here right now! Records being broken every day! LOL
That's what they're saying about Iowa now, I have family near Waterloo, they say the snow is making the intersections dangerous cause it's piled up so high!
26°, windchill 5°, wind WNW 10mph cloudy, intermittent snow
Was that the winter of '95 Louise? I can remember throwing snow like that pic of Victor's!
Wow. Snow predicted in Mickeyland!
22 now high of 24... oh boy.. the wood stove is turned down low and it's a steady 70 downstairs... in my computer room right now .. 62.. I just turned the thermostat up to get some heat up here... just had to buy a bi-level didn't we???
Sunny again and we need it with the cold temp. Light NNW wind and 16 degrees. They must think it is the ice age down south. A lot of damage to crops? I hope everything will recover. I do not remember such an extended cold spell down there. It is going to be cold here, but no storms for about ten days or so. No Jan. thaw in sight yet either. :(
Cold and windy is all I can say!!! GRRBRR!
Went to bed after loading the coal stove last night and got up to 66*F this morning. The wind seems endless, and just sucks the heat out of everything. At least it's sunny today, so the passive solar is helping, and it's back up to 70* now. Gotta venture out and fill the feeders, our little feathered friends are sucking up the food in this cold too, with this partial snow cover the feeders should save them a few calories. Ric
stupid bear.. I miss my feathered friends!!!
I'll bet you do! I even spread so seed on the brick patio, it's on the sunny, leeward side of the house. They like getting out of that demon wind too. We have 4 feeders on that side of the house, a thistle, sunflower, suet, and mixed wild bird seed. Since we have to run a small (100w) heater in the fountain to maintain a vent for the fish and frogs, we also have a small bird bath (8" water dish) for the birds. Our yard scape offers good cover from raptors but we see our share of those. Our area is very rural, next to a woodland and close to the Conewago Creek and Susquehanna River so we see a wide variety of birds.Ric
20 here - i have 4 yellow finches eating from the feeder outside my office window right now - skiing was great again -need more snow
28 wind chill 17
With the wood stove going it maintains our upstairs at 66, the furnace doesn't have to run as much, we have an thermostat that will have the fan kick on if not calling for heat or cooling, so the heat downstairs gets circulated rather nicely.
30°, windchill 20°, Wind NW 9mph, Sunny
29 and sunny. Not too windy.
26° and the sun is trying to peek out.
Will Miami be warm for the Super Bowl?!!!
Will Miami be warm for spring break? LOL Ric
I'm sure the boys hope it's not! ^_^
cowboy's going to the super bowl?
Jets.
rex read speaks - time for a diet!
You mean Ryan? Yes - he's huge!
the fat guy - yes - i should know it is ryan - got a kick out of joe G. joe T. calling him buddy at the beginning of the game
joe mentioned he remembered a game in dallas when the fans song happy b-day to joe tonight - joe t. was pretty polite - back in the 90's he gave a inspirational speak to us at a awards banquet in Puerto Rico - afterwards he offered to sign autograph's in the back of the hall - i was the third person i line - had a hundred people around us - told him i saw the greatest game he ever played - he literally touched his chest like he was pushing up his chest pads and asked which one - told him it was a monday night game and he threw 5 int's on his b-day - he shoved the pad pack in my hand and asked if i was in dallas that night - told him no i live in MA but i am sure they heard me in dallas that night - he was pretty pissed off to his credit - i would have been - he grabbed the pad back and signed it "to bill - a guy who can;t pick a winner joe t" pretty cool i still have it somewhere
later he ended up sitting next to me at the pool and i basically ran interference for him all day with everyone coming up bugging him and wanting to see the scar on his leg - we talked all afternoon - told him i didn't mean anything by what i said and that i was a huge cowboy fan and on the field he was the enemy - loved him at ND - i have been in the crowd two times with him at the speaking at functions and he always dumps on dallas
jets will win - congrat's victor!
Thanks!
Cool Theismann stories!
Phoebes - yes, I think it was the winter of 1995.
WaterCan - We are 120 miles south of Tampa, and Hank had to scrape frost off the windshield Wednesday morning when he left early to play golf. Amazing!
Really cold tonight. I wonder how my plants will do in 32 degrees with soaking wet sheets covering them??? It rained all day, so all of my covers must be wet and heavy. Ugh!! Wind chill of 10 degrees here tonight. Karen's not going to find much worth seeing in my gardens this week......frozen stuff and lots of weeds too.....haven't weeded since the puppies came. :( Can't even use roundup with all the wind we've had lately. She can at least meet the Wild Fur Girls! LOL
14!
Ahh! You're just under palm beach but on the west side, right at the palm tree line, used to go though some nasty rain storms on the east side in that line because of the open space on the I95. My bud is just ~ 10 mi south of Tampa. I lived south of you in FTL.

It was 2º first thing this am. Light wind and sunny, the temp has climbed to 9 now and should hit in the mid 20s for a high. The winds however are going to increase as well which will make it feel much colder. Well Jan usually is the coldest month here so if we get though the next three weeks, make it through Feb. the shortest and usually snowiest month we are golden into March and on the fast track to spring. I hope it goes quickly.
