Gypsies Shoot for Spring

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I've been trying to get him to knock the back out of the firplace so you can feel it from the LR and the kitchen.

Problem is there would be no where for the table in the kitchen.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

All I know Venice and Lynnie, if it looks cloudy throw it out! CYa JJ go do homework, I remember those days, have to keep em on schedule.

(Zone 5b)

oh my mother did something like that in her house

(Zone 5b)

my kids do theirs right after school too.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I've seen free standing fireplace in a log cabin a friend built. Was in middle of big L room and was neat. He is gone now but was a trapper by trade, and had snakes curling the logs and all kinds of skins and heads mounted. The wildlife officers stayed after him and he loved showing them he could dodge them.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Help is here, catch yall later.

(Zone 5b)

good luck Flowers!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Lynnie, that recipe sounds good! Copy & paste, copy & paste. I have a good biscotti one if anyone wants it. I'd have to e-mail it, though.

Foam insulation JJ? DH's favorite! That and caulk.

Gotta cook dinner for a bunch of hollowed legged creatures that are in my living room watching *my* copy of Lost Season 5. The nerve!

See you later!

(Zone 5b)

I took the stuff out of the fridge I will compromise and keep it out for 30 minutes, just can't do 2 hours...although I have read that food is ok when left out for 2 hours. Guess it depends where you leave it. Trying to time it to hubby's arrival lol

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Shuuuuu Listen......... You hear that?? Its RUNNING WATER!!!! YEAAA! I Love my son he just rescues his mom all the time LOL. Lynnie, if you are talking about frozen food, I use my defrost on the microwave best invention yet! Moon told Dixie about your Moms biker bar and she thinks I have been to LA and me and Sparky have kids that he is raising LOL. She is a trip! Smiley is that the series Lost? Getting ready for last episode in a few weeks I think.

(Zone 5b)

yay on the running water! you raised a good guy, Flowers!
I'm eating carbonara now...left out the proscuitto, I think it smells off!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

have to read back but if that is cheese then some of that cheese just smells down right funky even in good condition lol

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

or is that the Itallian bacon panchetta? If so don't eat it!

(Zone 5b)

It's the Italian ham.... I didn't but my husband says it's fine and he's eating it....I'll see how he does ;)

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well lucky he has a nurse in the house when the cook isn't sure lol

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Well gonna go take a hot bath, I'm whooped. Catch you sweet people tomorrow. Have a restful night and hope all are well and happy come morning. G-Night

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

♫ Good morning, good morning, good morning-a! ♫

(Zone 5b)

Morning! Coffee anyone?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning Gypsies....A balmy 41 here right now...GS back to school today....got right up with no BS and out to catch the bus a minute or two early. No grousing or complaining....checked under the covers twice to see where the real GS was hiding....grin...might have to do with intense desire to take driver's course and get learner's permit.....grin

Flowers, so glad the water is back on. Our old house, built by original owner in the 40's while drinking beer with his buddies, had a ton of leaks....greatfoam, caulk, plastic, fiberglass insulation and a monstrous heating bill....took 10 years or so to plug it all up.

Lynnie, been making Irish Carbonara for a long time....the quick and easy way...panchetta, proscuitto, thin sliced ham or canadian bacon and Ragu Parmesean sauce.....kids just called it ham and cheese spaghetti....grin

Yes please Smiley, I would love to have your biscotti recipe.

Hey JJ, ya need to close the door, all that Illinois cold is leaking down here. BRRRR, not looking forward to weekend....gonna be in teens....not what I signed on for....grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Good Morning my bright and chipper buddies! Smiley is singing, never could figure out how people woke up that way :-) Moon funny about GS I would have looked twice too lol. Gotta take care of business, gonna start snowing here again in afternoon, Got to get her done and get ready to be snowed in for another week. Think JJ already has it uggg sorry JJ, put another log on the fire. Thanks Lynnie, you make goood coffee.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You have a good day Flowers....take it easy, though. Gotta get going myself. Just heard from DD....they will be here 2nd week of February instead of 3rd week of March....Not nearly enough time to get all I wanted to do done....Will have to run the heater with the windows open so I can paint....may put off redoing kitchen....DH says a two week project...At least....

Sweet day all around....off to put everything in the attic....grin

Jesup, GA

Good morning every one! Moon, funny about GS. I'm sure the lure of the leatners permit had a lot do do with that extra surge of get up and go. Grin.....Flowers glad you pipe situation is resolved. I could just see ya having to crawl under the house wrapped up in electric blanket....with hair drier and a couple of long extension cord trailing behind ya. Mornin Lynnie and Smiley! Yall pass me another cup of coffee! Slurp, slurp, thanks just what the doctor ordered. Grin...JJ's must be all snuggled in her bed with her ski mask on. JJ's wake up! She doesnt use her door at home any more. She goes through the window. You go JJ's practice makes perfect! Grin

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Morning Dixie...are ya getting ready to hunker down with this ridiculous cold heading our way?

Jesup, GA

I've been hunkering Moon! I cant stand it! Have to be at work this morning at 10. Then it will be in and out of the court house this after noon. Thinking about boeeowing JJ's ski mask. Grin.....What about you? Yall picking the ice-cicles off of your heinies? Grin..

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

In the 40's now, 50's later today.....20's tonight and Friday night....TEENS for the weekend with highs in the 30's....EXCUSE ME...this is SOUTH LA....sorry for shouting, but I am outraged....grin(horrified really)

Jesup, GA

Gotta go,hope to catch up with all later this eve. Hope every one has a wonderful day! Stay safe and warm!

Jesup, GA

Me too Moon! LOL!!!! Just not natural...guess the good Lord figured he would give us a good dose to keep us on our toes....make us realize how good we had it. Grin....See ya later my friend. Stay warm!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Off to find a good starting place....32 days and counting...house has to be ready for a 4 year old and a 10 month old....whoa....been a long time....think everything breakable is going into attic/closets.....not gonna spend whole visit worrying about babies getting hurt....they are the only thing I can't replace or fix with gorilla glue....grin Gotta go buy a bunch of outlet covers, cabinet door locks and maybe a vacation home for the cats....lol.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

IT IS PRETTY WHITE HERE!!!

I imagine JJ is trying to dig out! They were talking about 12" of snow in Chicago. We will probably only get about 6". There were over 15 accidents in and around Indianapolis just in the past few hours. The snow must be wet because cars are having a problem stopping and getting traction in starting again.

You lucky southerners!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

We won't get the snow, Venice, but we are getting rain today and temps in the 20's tonight....Gonna be Highway Icecapades around here.... lots of icy patches on roads and believe me, the coonasses down here don't know nuthin 'bout driving on ice....grin

Already debating about whether schools will be open tomorrow....for first time in years they are leaving the heaters on overnight in the schools just in case the buses can get there....can you please explain Global Warming to me again? LOL

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I read something the other day that despite of us having this cold winter all over the country, yes there is still global warming. I didn't read the rest of the article because I thought it was a little useless!

Yes, ice can be treacherous!!! Be careful out there!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I know that the temperature of the polar icecaps is supposed to be rising and that of the oceans also....just can't understand why it is so cold here....last year my zone changed from 8b to 9a....maybe they jumped the gun....grin

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

The melting ice caps must affect the jet stream, or something like that.

DH *kind of* knows where you all live, he said the cold coming down from Canada (heading for JJ & Venice) and the cold snap down south (hitting Moon & Dixie - I think heading for Flower's house next) is all going to converge over my house. Great news. And since most of the stuff that hits here heads east, Lynnie will get it too.

Moon, you must be so excited! How long are they staying, or did I miss that somewhere?

Off to shop for beads, see you all later.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Smiley, let us know what you are doing with your beads. And take a photo when you are finished with your project.

If the snow is heading your way, I am sure that front with dump a big load of it there. Be sure to pick up any groceries you need also before it comes.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Gonna turn EVERY Gypsy blue and frosty....grin

Smiley, DD and family will stay at least 3 weeks, maybe a month depending on what is happening at home with work and Aidan's pre-school. They were on a long waiting list to get him into a good pre-school rather than just a daycare...both are stupid expensive and they don't want to lose his slot. Took 2 years to get him in and that is just 3 days a week. I had 2 1/2 months to get ready for their visit, now just 4 or 5 weeks. Panic mode here...wanted to get painting, new flooring and kitchen redone before they came....may have to postpone some of it. Daughter is a minimalist Aquarian like Lynnie and Joy....grin Gonna put it all in the attic, (just finished cleaning it out) and lock the attic access....grin Of course the ceilings may collapse under the weight...grin

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi everyone,19f here this evening and snow on ground frozen and slippery.I have to keep converting all temps to and from centigrade, which I'm used to,to fahrenheit, which I've not really ever known,I was only about 7 years old when this country converted to metric system.
Flowers,I forgot to thank you yesterday for link with biscuit info and recipe. They'll be good,I know, because our "Scones" are almost the same, except without egg in the mixture ,so different texture and maybe slightly different taste.Scones are most often served buttered with jam or jam and cream, but savoury ones are also made with cheese in the mixture too.
DH and I've just returned from huge grocery shop,as did my parents shopping too and i wanted to stock up for them a bit,cos there's only so much I can carry at one journey:}
Seemed to be in supermarket for hours!!!

Jesup, GA

Hi all. Still at work having a late lunch. It's actually 50 right now....feel like basking in the warmth but nooooo I have to run back to court house in a few. Moon I know your so excited to see your family! Gonna get cold, cold again over the week end. Smiley what are ya making with beads? Show us when ya finish. Hi Joy and Venice hope yall are having a nice day. Flowers must be off on the Big Wheel with Sharkey. Grin...Lynnie hope you went to the gym for me. JJ's and Kassy must be digging out....Burrrrrr! Gotta run. All have a great day!

Delhi, LA

I truly hope none of you guys believe in this global warming hype. A good many years ago it was global cooling. The weather runs in cycles. Sometimes it is hot and sometimes it is cold. Did you hear that they have discovered that animal poop is generating a lot of this global warming. Looks like all the dogs, cats, horses and cows have to go.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Joy. Seems as if all of us are experiencing the worst of winter. This is quite the arctic blast coming through US over the next 4 days. Will be 10 to 15 degrees colder than our normal low temps for my area. Garden is really going to take a nasty hit. It is raining now and 8.33C here now. Supposed to get down to -9.4 C by tomorrow. Our normal winter low is at the coldest 1.1C....

I imagine it can be very difficult carrying groceries for your folks while trying to maintain your footing....grin Not all biscuits are made with egg. There are a number of recipes available...DH makes a drop biscuit (mix spooned on to baking sheet) that is flour, baking soda, baking powder, milk and butter. It is more like scones than biscuits rolled and cut out. I am a fan of shortbreads, so like the crumblier texture.

Hope you have a lovely evening...stay warm and be safe.

Delhi, LA

Cold here Moon, Temp has really dropped since early morning. Most of the drizzle is gone so maybe no significant ice. A little road glazzing is about all. These rednecks are just like their coonie cousins in S. La. don't know the meaning of slow.
