Good Job Lynnie! I was trying to copy and paste winter scenes but wouldn't let me guess copy right thing. How ya doin? Headed to Gym?

(Zone 5b)

no I went yesterday, that's why I'm sore lol
I get to stay and have coffee today.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Good job Lynnie!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

well think I'm stuck too, more snow last night and 16* right now, think I'll keep the coffee pot warm today for all the weary Gypsies.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Cool, Lynnie, looks like something straight out of a star trac movie. Would love to see that one in person.

(Zone 5b)

it's pretty cool, you walk through and they do a presentation, lighting up different parts of th eglobe and there are quotes from people like Benazir Bhutto

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning...thanks so much Lynnie for searching out the new playhouse. I love the dome, oughta give us plenty of room to play. GRIN Couldn't find one of the cats last night, went out at 11 and searched for him until I couldn't feel my feet...seems like I woke up every hour or so and would go call him. DH looked for him before he left at 4AM for work....guess he found a warm place and didn't want to come out. Probably in the greenhouse...they have a small opening so they can get in there, but I sure wasn't gonna let any warm air out looking....silly kitty.

We have a small biker bar down the road a bit called MOM's Place and they have Karioke on Wednesdays...no lie....grin

(Zone 5b)

Morning Moon! did he come back this morning?
it's sunny here but still in the 20's. At least the sun will warm the inside of my car!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Oh Nooooo! Moon tell Bubba we are sorry we made fun of his tatoe LOL. Hope you find kitty and hope he is ok. Yeaaaa see a little sun peeking out here.

(Zone 5b)

Moon can you flip that sign upside down for us?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

A guy on a motorcycle did that for us a few nights ago....grin Drove his bike right into it. Good thing it was a free-standing wooden sign...might have messed it up otherwise....grin

The other two cats went out to find BobbyDog this morning....imagine they will all be at the door in a bit.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sunny and 34 here. BobbyDog cat showed up howling a few minutes ago...the other two right behind him. They are all curled up in various cubby spots and sleeping...just what kitties do best...grin. Hope you all have a nice day....Good Morning to all who check in later....Back to school tomorrow, new semester, new courses....need new supplies. See ya all later.

Lynnie, again thanks for starting a new thread. Hope to catch up later....Moon

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Holey cow I'll never get caught up,

GS is back...he was on the computer playing wizard 101 all night.
Guess I'll have to get the laptop back out if I want to play.

Sounds like you had a fun time.
I have to run to town to get provisions in case we get that snowstorm.
All I have is cookies and candy..but plenty of it.

Will catch you all later, DH put the car in garage so it will start. Now if he would fix the garge door opener..Guess that is expecting a lot. It hasn't worked in 10 years..LOL

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

No good if ya can't get door open to get out JJ. Yep looks like yall are gonna get hammered again, get lots of cocoa and fire logs! Better keep the ski mask and coveralls on the coat tree for emergencys .Gonna go check on neighbor catch yall in a little while or tonight. Moon glad cats are safe and sound :-)

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Shoot dang water lines are froze. Made coffee this morning, must have happened in last hour or so. Dumb cold!!!!! Pipes are wrapped, and heat tape on problem areas I thought, bet I leave it running tonight if it thaws.

(Zone 5b)

jsut ran to dry cleaner & grocery store...snow huh? Guess I'll check the weather
report.
I got stuff to make carbonara, do you have a recipe for that Smiley? I have seen it with and without ricotta, in Northern Italy I had the best carbonara in the world, there was no ricotta in it. Might try it that way. Shallots or no shallots, that's the question....

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, glad your kitty is back. They do know where home is.

Flowers, sorry about your frozen pipes. I hope it doesn't cause a worse problem.

I guess we have plenty of insulation in our homes up here so not as critical. But they do always say to leave your faucet dripping in freezing weather. I turn my heat off at night even in this cold weather. Moon would freeze in my apartment! It is down to 55 or even 53 degrees when I get up in the morning then turn the heat on. I sleep with a pile of blankets and keep toasty warm. My water heater is next to all of my water pipes so I don't have a problem with them.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Venice...got a sec while waiting on GS. We keep thermostat on 52 at night and 62 in daytime. DH and GS are too warm natured. I have my house sweater that i wear most of the winter...grin. Waterbed has a heater, so toasty at night...slippers and fuzzy robe right next to bed....grin Thank goodness for a programable thermostat. The heater kicks on about 30 minutes before the alarm goes off.and heats things up to 68, then resets to 62. resets itself to 52 at 10PM. Really works well and utility bill for Dec was $105...Dec bill before the programmable...last winter, was $165. I consider that well worth the cost of the new thermostat.

(Zone 5b)

yeah let the faucets drip Flowers, there's a problem you don't need! At least you got your coffee in!
We have a programmable thermostat, too, but 50's at night is too cold for me! lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Burrowed under the covers, I don't even notice. Only if have to get up during the night...then really happy to climb back under covers. I find we all sleep better and GS and I have fewer allergy problems...sinuses don't dry out as much.

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Moon, your heating's set at same time as ours,30 mins before getting up time, also similar temp.We set it to click on in night if temp falls below a certain level, about 55,I think it is.
Glad your cat's ok.
Flowers, hope your frozen pipes return to normal without causing too many problems.
Venice, hope you are feeling better and continue to recover,it's good to see you again.
It's 23 here this evening, warm to some of you, cool to others
Hope you're all having a good day,
back soon,boys need feeding.

(Zone 5b)

I didn't realize till today that the search engine is down....that's a pain!

Hi Joy how are you?

I have no humidity in my house, it's nearly incompatible with life *grin*

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Joy. Read an article about healthy sleeping and it said most homes are too warm at night, especially in the winter time. I just hate giving the utility company any more than have to. Especially since we are paying for their repairs from Hurricane Katrina....a few hundred thousand dollars passed on in rate hikes....dratted monopolies....grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

well went out and put ceramic heater under the house and kicked heat up to 71. If I don't burn the house down first son will come over after work with a blow torch or something to thaw it out lol. Knew I should of had a heat tape put on that section of pipe, its the first place that freezes, but thought wrapping would do it, see what I get for thinking huh?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

No blow torch, Karen....the experts say use a blow dryer on high....blow torching frozen pipes can cause them to burst.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I tend to exagerate at times Moon, haven't you learned that about me yet LOL He has a gas heater he crawls up under there with and puts it close enough to thaw line. Hey Joy , just another day in the neighborhood need more insulation in this place so I can get a programable thermostat, don't like those high electric bills either. Gone to go check heater. Back later

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi all, good afternoon! Sheesh, we move along quickly, don't we? I'm at work today, lordy they'd go nuts 2 days in a row without me. Or maybe it's the other way around??

Lynnie, didn't go to the globe thing inside the library, it looks really cool, though. Will have to next time we go to Boston. I think it's Cincinnati this year. The half of me that's not Italian doesn't know what carbonara is, but I have a lot of cookbooks.

Moon, glad BobbyDogKitty made it home ok. I'd hate to have to worry about him alongside you.

JJ, if you have cookies and candy, what else do you need?

Venice, it sounds like your meds are working, you sound better.

Hi Joy! Hi Flowers! Hi Dixie wherever-you-are!

We too keep our heat lowered. DH always attributed our lack of colds to that fact, I agree. The people I know who keep their houses warm are always passing sickness around. For some reason, around 5PM it gets really cold in our house. So I crank it up to 68. I'd rather not pay the gas company any more than I already do.

Better get back at it, still working on inventory counting, it takes precedence because if it has to be recounted, I don't even want to go there.

See you all later, stay warm!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Been there done that Smiley, never could figure out why they hire a team of inventory people to count everything and we had to count it first. Trust issue ya think? :-)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Have a good afternoon Smiley. Your DH is right...the gist of the article was that you stay healthier. Have fun with the inventory...hope all goes as planned.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You exaggerate Flowers? Heaven forfend! grin Just know folks around here will pull out propane torches to thaw pipes and then wonder why the pipes split, either then or next time the temperature drops....article said it stresses the integrity of the metal.....Also, if you can set a wind block on the north side of house, it keeps the wind from blowing under the house and makes the floors warmer....

(Zone 5b)

my hubby is doing inventory too, Smiley. Kids are riding him about going back to work after dinner every night lol they're little nags

Ok I made all the phone calls, started cleaning out my bedroom, and I'm ready for coffee.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

found more in the pot to heat, heres to ya Lynnie! So much for turning up heat, I'm sweating bullets and still no water lol Your right Moon that end of the house gets mega winds will have to send pics and show ya and think that is north. Should have paid more attention in school.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Do know my right from left tho. I'm pooped and done zilch. Walked around the house with heater twice, went up to check on neighbor, she isn't home, put bulb back in driveway light.( I unscrew it when Christmas tree on porch lights are on). Walked around from room to room looking for the extension cord I just had and talked to son twice. Whewww I need a nap.

(Zone 5b)

lol Flowers...I reheat the same pot all day, then when it's gone it's gone, I don't usually make more. Sometimes when I'm desperate I will.
I'm trying to find room in other parts of the house for all the stuff in my closet. Gotta empty it out and get bedroom started.
gotta cook dinner early for the kids.
Smiley I found what looks like a good carbonara recipe, I have come to the conclusion that most people don't eat it. I'll dmail it if you want. I thought anybody with a recipe for homemade biscotti would have a recipe for carbonara...I should stop making such assumptions.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

you people eat some weird stuff! Don't listen to them Joy, Our Mountain cookin is the way to go lol If I can't pronouce it I ain't eating it!

(Zone 5b)

Flowers it's just spaghetti and bacon, really, with a sauce made out of cheese, egg & cream. Bacon is supposed to be Italian, I can't find it here so I got Italian ham instead, same animal right? hmmmm I'll know tonight.
