Trisha, forgot to add, tell Sage I wouldn't mind tasting one of her cookies..she's a talented crafter, bet she can make cookies just as well...and here I was looking for something to eat with the hot chocolate....ask her if she'll share...
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Mmmmm Lemon cake cookies! Sounds Yummy !
I'm killing time...and mad at myself that I'm not putting myself to better use.
Betty - please Dmail me some energy. I have no ailments - other than I'm cold and can't get warm - so I have NO excuse.
I should do this and that. Put photos in album, clean out a closet, go join a Health Club...but here I sit on the computer with my fuzzy slippers.
LK - this cold is unbelievable isn't it! Do you think you will lose most your plants? I think you are in zone 9....I am in 8B.....I've never been a "Gardener" in weather like this....
Tubby - Good to see you posting !
Crissy - can't believe our pipes were okay...DH out of town and I've done nothing to prepare for cold.
(((WARM HUGS))) to all
Mary
Mary, just d-mailed you energy now let's see what you do with it..lol..some days though, sitting with jammies and fuzzy slippers is just what's needed..don't feel badly about it..
Remember I do my resting at work and then work while I'm at home...
My brother Mike just dropped in to give me photo's of Evan his grandson...once upon a time I remember him saying he'd not go wild when he'd have grandchildren but lordy think he has me beat...I just might get to see that grand nephew at Aunt Muriel's birthday party...looking forward to seeing him..he's already 5 months old, if I soon don't see him I might be dancing at his wedding..lol
Do want to put my feet up, have a rest but someone won't share either the couch or the afghan...
Crissy......4004
Good to be posting
Tubby
Most of my plants were angel trumpets, and I cut them back for cuttings later this year. I left the roots in the ground, and covered them mulch, hopeing some of them will return. I have about 6 hibiscus plants that I left outside, and the frost has not bothered them so far.
Betty that kitty does look comfy......as for the cookies....we ended up crocheting Cat Toys instead of making cookies...much better for my diet....
Betty Norm says "Great job - couldn't do better myself!!!!" Actually, he is thrilled to see what you did. His only comment was for me to remind you to put moleskin or some other covering on the wood where it meets the wall. This will protect the wall from any stain or marking. I love it too. Did the pictures help at all?
Thank Norm, yes the photo's did help and when I went back to get the instructions I saw his placement...thought I'd use those small felt stick on pads for wall support..did reallly sand round as suggested though..am sure I'll be making more..how about you Barb, did you get to sew ?
Trisha, that's why I'm not baking as well, I'd be eating it all and sure don't want to put any of that weight I lost back on..Kitty toys, that should be fun, bet she spend some time teasing the kitties with finished toy.. when I was cleaning and organizing last weekend had a book with animal coats and I think there may have been toys...should check it out..
Linda Kay, lets hope it doesn't get much colder, you'd hate for those plants to die..did you rest today and did you do much seeing as you were pain free?
Pushed Riley over, covered myself and had a nap for a few hours, not sure that was a wise decision..will try a gravol tonight, someone told me it might make me sleep and you can't get addicted to it...if you don't hear from me by noon tomorrow you'll know it worked..lol
Best of the day..just putzing around, please to be inside out of the cold
Worse of the day...brother Mike not spending more time visiting...highly allergic to cats so our visit consisted of gabbing for 10 minutes while we stood at front door...
What did I learn today..now there is an easy one...thanks DG friends and sharing knowledge, I know how to make quilt ladders..and make I will...
Good Lord willing,
We'll gab tomorrow (or maybe sooner-Mary usually does the midnight shift..
Hello All;
Thanks Betty for the Energy ! I ended up folding all the socks in the sock basket...probably hasn't been done in 2 years....so I had quite a pile...if I can get going tomorrow...maybe I'll clean out the whole laundry room.
DD's are out skating and at movies.... DS has no plans so far but will probably end up at some friends house...DH will be home late...he is working every weekend this month ...
Glad you got a visit from your brother...I can't remember if you have more than the brother and sister...
Barb or Bev mentioned Disneyworld.... Betty - you know what a fanatic I am.... I am planning a Graduation trip for just DS and me for May ... Yay !
LK - we just had one giant Angel Trumpet. I am concerned that I've lost my five tropical hibiscus. I think I am supposted to cut them back in Feb...Valentines Day? I guess I'll find out after that...if they come back...
I'll pop back in after a bit...((Hugs))
Mary
PS: TUbby - I dmailed you a long time ago...but in case you forgot...I DID get the hibiscus seeds you sent... THANK YOU very much ! :) I may need them to replace some if lost in this cold we're having!
400
THANKYOU
Tubby
Good to see you posting Tubby... Have a great night.
Just as I pressed send the telephone rang, was Judy calling..wanted to say 'hi' to you all for her, computer down, she's not happy about it, says she's so lost but is getting some projects and organizing done with her time..Steve is having surgery on Tuesday so she hopes the procedure make him pain free...
She's so much fun to gab with! But now that we gabbed my adrenaline is up from laughter and not sure I'm ready for my bed...lol
Barb, what a lovely sign, bet the Fabric Store owner was thrilled to see it...I can appreciate the number of hours it took her to paint it..she's done an excellent job .. love the quilts and even has Norm's quilt ladder...
as for the material do you really think you want to take the purple out..would be striking contrast...will you be using it for quilt blocks? You were the ambitious one, you got your 12 blocks done almost from the start didn't you? I know, got to get at January..I should have traded off, done something for someone and in return have them do my block..lol..I know, make it myself...
Mary, quality time with your son and at Disney, is there anything better than that!!! what a graduation celebration..
So how many socks do you have left unmatched..there is just me in this house and I can't believe how many I have to throw out because I can never find to match..
Let's have a question of the day?
where do you think lost socks go????
The sock monkeys take them to have babies!!!!!
Barb - That's a precious sign... I was going to say it had Betty's quilt ladder but she beat me to it!
Betty - I must have had about 50 unmatched socks! worse...I didn't have the heart to throw them away yet.... I told DS I would wait a week. See if that happens. None of the ankle socks matched...that was about 15. about 20 white socks...and 10 black socks...and of course about 10 "cutesy" socks from the girls....
Where do unmatched socks go? I love Barb's answer. I tried google-ing it to come up with a better answer and was unable to... There must be a one-footed Monster that steals them in the night...
Hugs,
Mary
I was told to cut single socks in strips and use them on the Potholder Looms.
I love that Raggedy diamond pattern B.
You guys would not believe what an odd winter we are having, it has been in the 70's for the last few weeks. Our roses are all going to go into shock since they are budding out leaves and some are trying to flower. Cold and rain are coming supposedly though as of the 19th, and you guys back east and in the mid-west are in for a high pressure warm up.
I got a sunburn on my face this week, and have been hard scaping and will winter sow, soon.
What I wouldn't give Dawn for a sunburn about now..it's bitter cold this morning, even with furnace on there is a chill..just put the fireplaces on on both level, should be cozy shortly...
I'm hoping this morning that you Dawn and Liz are able to post so that we know you are fine..been listening to the newscast for awhile now describing the earthquake...hope both were not affected and prayers for those who are...
Trisha, now there is an idea..I usually use the found sock for dusting purposes...
Where does the other lost sock go...seeing Santa's workshop I think his elves take them and they are hung on his tree...what do you think?
Well I've made sleep in till after 5, that's a bit better right?
Tubby, hope you've gotten some well deserved rest...
Betty
5 HRs of sleep..................
Tubby
Tubby, that's an improvement right..I've always functioned on little sleep but normally the sleep I get IS during the night..just got to get back into correct time zone for sleeping..lol..
Is Shirley back at work?
Just done row 1 of 15 for Suzanne's afghan that I'm doing for her birthday..have all figured out, if at minimum I do 1 row a day then she'll have it on the 31st. for sure..
It's colder today than yesterday..just doing my hair and then will venture outside..left the 3rd cabinet in my car, is just tooo heavy to carry so I've come up with a plan..take my exacto knife, open the carton and carry in a few boards at a time...that way I'll not get the what for from Greg about lifting heavy objects..figure by the time I'm dressed it will at least be daybreak...
Tubby 5 hours is a good thing right??? and tomorrow or the next day it will be 5 1/2 hrs. And each day things will get better!!! You have so much love from all of us pulling for you, we are sure you will be much stronger soon. Hello to Shirley too.
Betty, Betty, Betty!!!! You are about as impatient waiting for help with something as I am. I'd be doing the same thing.
I love the pictures you have sent showing your organized workrooms. It is a big chore but one worth doing. That is my chore for today - to straighten my quilt room. I'll get two or three things going at once and then I need to stop and put things away again so I'll know where they are. I'm a great one for pulling out fabrics to find the ones I want and then I have a pile to sort again!!!! Keeps me busy though..
Have a great morning and I'll check back in later.
Oh, Norm said again that you did a great job on the ladder. They are not hard to do and really are a great way to display the quilts rather than have them put away somewhere.
Kudos to you my friend...
LOL Barb, I've always been this way, if I plan something to do I want it done today, now!!!! Have a system for housework as well, hidden corners like closets etc. get done each season..find it so much easier to keep on top of things...
Oh I know about wanting to do a project, taking absolutely everything out to find the right thing and then what a mess..half my day goes to finding a project, going through a zillion books, by the time I'm organized the day is 1/2 gone...
Thank Norm for giving me yet another project I can make for gifts seeing as my family are quilters..mom/sharon/Aunt Muriel and a few friends..great for afghans as well...so thank you/thank you...tell norm I took it to the back bedroom and decided nope, downstairs in the little foyer as you come in from the back into basement, the fireplace I made has the mantle stained in same color so I'm giving coats of flecto satin diamond finish now and by this afternoon I can have it put together and in use..if not for quilts down here then some afghans...
Dressed and ready to take on the day...now where are my boots...
Morning everyone! Sorry to hear Judys computer went down! I know she is missing it. Hopefully she will get it fixed soon?
Morning Tubby, make sure you tell Shirley we said hello! Sending prayers and ((((HUGS)))) to you both.
If the hibiscus are dead now, trim them back, they will come back.
Several months ago, someone mentioned they had an extra overhead projector, and I don't remember if it was on this thread or not, if it is till available, please dmail me?
Tater
e
I will be safe and carfull..................
Tubby
Overhead projector, now what will are you planning... I have an artograph and mentioned using it, but didn't have an extra one...my guess - mural?
Almost done putting the cupboard together..should have stayed with purchasing the 3rd from Home Depot..Canadian Tire cupboard has different hinges, not as easy to align..but shortly it will be in it's corner and filled with goodies...
Yes, it will be used for murals. I just don't remember who had it? Still looking.
Sounds like you are staying busy?
Busy Group! Just on my second cup of coffee then maybe I can get going. Want to get the fringe on the shawl I have been working on so I can get started on the hats....
Tubby 5 hours is great!! Glad you are getting at least a little sleep now. I think that is more than I got last night...I get chilled and my arm and elbow, that I jammed when I fell, start o ache. So I sleep in fits and spells through the night....not very restful. It seems I am more tired when I wake up than when I went to bed.
zinhus
glad too be here
Tubby
(((Tubby))) we all really have missed you here!
Trisha, the fringe is for the scarf you showed us photo of..you are moving right along aren't you..
In my cleaning came across the cutest little Christmas decorations..cutout on balsam wood, hung with wire and pre-stamped for painting...do you think Sage might want them???
Let me know and I'll put them in an envelope..attached to each is a tag - tag has picture of what is to be painted...
I'll get them off to her in the morning..
OMG can't you see yourself wrapped in that shawl, so cozy and warm..love it..
When I picked up wool for Suzanne's afghan (by the way I've got 2 rows done and 13 more to go..lol) they had a shawl, well not quite a shawl more jacket type..picked the pattern up because I could just see myself in it..you know, slippers, shawl, feet up on coffee table, lady of leisure..lol...
Looks comfy doesn't it...your shawl I imagine would look spectacular on you for going out...the fringe is what makes it isn't it...
Well, don't want to stop now, 2 loads out to the firepit, yuk, had to make a pathway in the snow to firepit and back shed, long way to shovel but it needed to be done, once the garbage has been disposed of I know I'll be able to find any tool at a glance...for today anyway....
Calling it a day..another room cleaned and organized...
Off to the variety store for milk or I'll not have coffee in the a.m....must also get something to make a lunch for Mark who is planning to do the floor tomorrow...
Just remembered that everything in that cafe has to come out..much too tired to undertake it today so I'll set the alarm , as though I need to, and do it in the a.m.
Will purchase a length of shelving tomorrow, have it cut so I can put a few more shelves in this cabinet..too much wasted space
Edited to say...
It wasn't until I got the back on completely that I realized the white part of the backing should have faced the inside..oh well, it's just a cabinet...

Until I get another cabinet this will have to do...looks unorganized for really it isn't..know exactly where to find what..
The bandsaw/commercial scroll saw/ table sander/table saw/chop saws have all been dusted and oiled and will sit until I get the urge to do a project again..hopefully it will be summer and I can take them outside to avoid so much sawdust...
Enjoy your day..
If I don't fall asleep by 7 I'll check in again..

Hi everyone, in a hurry cause it's cold in this here room!!
The weather liars said it was going to be a high of 35* today! The first day we've had above freezing all week!
Tubby 5 hours is wonderful, it will improve.
Dave's going to fix the pipe later, he has every day now to fix it.
When it warms up a tad we're going to build a veggie garden but not really sure how he wants to go about it, or how much he wants to spend on seeds. I might have to go seed scavenging. I do have an ad from artisticgardens.com for $.35 sample seed packets but he's said no.
Love all the stuff in the pics! Very nice.
Trisha I wouldn't mind one of Sage's cookies either ;)
I'll see ya'll tomorrow, I'm cold!
Betty, love the new cabinets, Looks like you have it all together, and organized? Very nice! Trisha, I LOVE that shalw your working on! Such a pretty color also. How long did it take to do?
Hey Crissy, Sounds like you need a little space heater for your computer room?
Stay warm everyone. It is 50 here this afternoon, so not too bad, doing laundry, and hanging it on the line outside.
