We will see if it is still cute when I get done with it...lol.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Adorable..you'll get it done if you stay resting as you are suppose to do...looks like it's done in crochet???
Wish I could wear a hat, always loved them, bought a few but could never see myself wear them...
It's bitter cold out there...getting all the garbage together for the roadside, must say, half my refrigerator and cupboards are going...
Isn't it always the same, today I have to go to work, today is the day I think I could have slept in..lol..
Gathering knitting needles to do the phentex slippers, maybe by tomorrow I'll have a pair to wear...Trisha we'll support each other in our projects...must be finished by the weekend right?
From your post, it sounds like you took quite the brunt of it all..wow..you are so lucky, no broken bones....
Been cleaning a bit in the craft room..have to have more shelving cut for the cupboards because there is too much dead space..I'll mark dimensions down and call TimBrr Mart and have them cut them for me, maybe Greg can pick them up tonight on his way home...
Best I get moving....lot's to do, garbage, sweep floors (dog cat hair not to my liking) and guess the car will need to idle for awhile..brrrrrr...so envie you guys down south...
Talked to Sharon last night, she said in a few years when Nikki is in University she'll sell her home, purchase a smaller one to have a home base and purchase a home in Florida for winters..said maybe by then I might be done work and we can enjoy each other's company in 'warmth'..wouldn't that be something..
Hope you will all keep me company today...
Enjoy your day!
Morning Betty. Are you back to work today? Hope the roads are clear for everyone to drive on! It is 36 here this morning. I heard on the news, that it has not been this cold in the US, for about 20 years. Just unusual cold fronts coming down from Canada. It even froze in Florida!
Betty is sending all her cold to me!!!!! It's FREEZING here. and only going to get worse. Betty I sure do hope you are ready to go to work. Please let us know how you are feeling.
Trisha it sounds like this is the only way to get you to slow down!!! We really do expect to see a scarf and hat soon. I love the scarf pattern. Did you say it came on the yarn packaging? Very pretty.
Thinking of you today Tubby and saying prayers for you and Shirley. Hope this new year is going well and that you are behaving yourself!!!!
Off to the quilt room today. We have the DGSs again overnight tonite. Mom and Dad are off snowmobiling.
Talk to you later......
Yes LindaKay, figured if I couldn't do anything at home but sit I might as well come in and do same...thanks to the link for the slippers I'll have something to keep me active...thought with having to go through Dr. appts and tests I'd best save my sick days for then...Hospital testing is scheduled for Jan.20th in Orillia..let's hope no storm...
COLD coming from Canada you say? lol..if we are sending down cold we're keeping most of it for US...wow it's been bitter cold..Greg was saying last night that Doug my cousin will be marking the trail line on Georgian Bay with Christmas trees from Cognashene to Honey Harbour early this week..usually they are island bound for a few weeks other than using the skoot but not this year...so cold is good for some I guess...
I'm hoping you get your pkg. today, will give you something to keep you busy as well...as though you don't already have enough to do..lol
I'm going to Michael's at lunch and pick up what's needed to finish the afghan..then it will be another project done with..almost tempted to put it away and give as a gift and do it more with my own living room colors..still might..
Mom is finished putting hers together..she says she has 4 afghans done and no one to give them to..told her maybe the church or maybe a woman's shelter..she'd like to order another pattern as she enjoys knitting or crochet work but says what to do with them is the problem...
I was surprised, other than wood projects when I was doing my cleaning I'm really caught up..the bag with the cross stitch of the boys, well let's just say it's doubtful I'll ever finish that one...
Got calls to make..trying to make appt. with Mark (Diane's son) to come and give me estimate to flooring..suggestions as to what would be best...then order shelving so just maybe Greg can pick it up this aft.
Gab later
LindaKay, what are you sewing today? Fingers crossed your package comes in..do want to see both projects I've given you done..lol...ah, not 2 but 3...
Hi! I'm having a week. Yesterday I drove to work in snow flurries, no big deal at all, roads clear and no traffic because all of the schools were closed because of these snow flurries, got to work and was informed that we were under an Inclement Weather Policy and didn't have to be to work until 10am. I come in at 8:30am. Gave away 1 1/2 hours.
This morning my alarm goes off, I raise up, and the power goes out. It's 6:45am and still dark. Took a very quick shower as I don't want to use all of the hot water lol, got ready slowly as the sun was coming up, was in the kitchen feeding Tiga about 45 minutes after I got up and here comes Dave, running across the house stark naked with his clothes covering what was needed yelling, "The power's out and it's cold in here!!" LOL No kidding!! He had the thermostat set at 65* so it was cold before the power went off.
I'll catch up with all ya'll's talking at lunch, I've got a ton of work to do and I can't sit in the bedroom at home at night because it's just too cold to sit in that room, I swear that side of the house isn't insulated. When Diana next door drove to work this morning she said her car said it was 11*, when I drove to work it was warming up, by the time I got here at 8:30 it was 17*.
LOL...can always count on you Crissy to make me smile...you are just too funny..can just imagine Dave!!!
That's wonderful that it gives you extra time to get into work, inclement weather policy, maybe I should tell Paul about that one..lol...
Changing here from light flurries to much heavier..don't mind the snow, just hope no white outs...
Called Mark, Diane's son in the flooring business..we talked about options, then I mentioned I loved the tile that I showed you all earlier..he said he'd come and do measurements on Thursday evening and didn't mind if I were to purchase the tile that I like and he'd instal and take up the present flooring, so that's a plus..said he'd give me a discount because of my long time standing friendship with his mom..I had just called TimBrr Mart to order shelving, Pat laughed when I called him back to ask him to PLEASE put the tile away for weekend pick up..
So everything going good in my world..
Betty, don't you be misbehaving...listen to the doctors. Look what I went through, and am still going through. All for ignoring!
Cold as anything here also...I think it is about 10 outside. There is a storm stalled right over Lake Ontario...at the end of our road! We have had over 3 feet of snow in 2 days...and no end in site. It is pretty though, long as I don't have to go out in it.
Yesterday I cancelled Shannons PT...as I just couldn't see her out in that with crutches. Yes, ours was plowed and clean...but who knows what the PT lot looked like....or the 40 minute drive there.
Stay warm everyone
Debbie
Was listening to the news this a.m. Debbie and thought of you...getting much the same here..roads are clear but lots of snow to shovel...did a bit this am before leaving..more to do tonight I'm sure...must be warming up somewhat because I can see the vehicles creating slush on the road...
Glad you cancelled the appt. no sense taking a chance unless life death situation..how are all the girls doing? best not forget that handsome son of yours?
Did they ever find out exactly what caused the tremendous amount of swelling?
I don't know if you really want to know Betty. They think I was having mini-strokes aka blood clots, I had a mini-stroke in Feb. last year. And with all the sitting and heat...exacerbated the issue I guess. It has taken from Aug. until this month, with medicine changes and life changes, to finally get to a good place. I am not released from every month visit...to every 3 months.
Older two are facing tests, one Friday, and on next Thursday. We will know more from then. Jeanna is in quite a bit of pain, and sleeping alot. I should say, when she isn't at work. Stress of this is taking its toll...not knowing.
OMG/OMG Debbie you should have told me, we could have changed our plans, nothing was worth putting your life in danger..heart is beating a mile a minute here...glad you are getting somewhat back to normal..I had so much fun with you..don't think you realized just how much..I'd take you travelling any day..good car companion, anything went...just straight fun..looking forward to your coming for a visit..
It's the not knowing that's the hardest...sure hope they get things under control shortly..always best to know what you are fighting..
Betty, I didn't know when we were traveling...and tests just showed all this. I was cleared to travel for our trip....they thought no more chance of it happening. I had been on quite a few medications back in Feb....and once I stopped them (for depression) I felt so much better. They thought that was the cause.
wow...glad you made the trip without further ill health...
goodness, not sure why I keep getting e-mails re the bridge in St. Louis, but they keep sending me info..you didn't tell them we were at their doorstep and didn't go up did you?
ROFL, I am soooo not going up on that thing! LOL Hindsight...kind of wish we did.
I know, what do they say Debbie, 'Lord hates a coward!' we should have you know....lol maybe on our next adventure...
Hey Betty, I am working on the quilt sqaures. Mine did not get to Janice, guess it got lost in the mail, so I am off to make another one for December, and then one for January.
Ok, I need to finish the snowman, and the thread bag, once it arrives, what else do I have from you? You said three items?
crochet afghan pattern... the arm chair grab all...thread bag...forgot the snowman..lol..I'm going to be watching..best get them done..
well I through my Dec. block in the garbage in error...had to make another, sent it off same day I sent all of your pkgs. so let's hope mine makes it..
This weekend I'll work on the January and maybe February blocks...I'm the last month on the swap, will certainly appreciate everyones efforst for sure..
wow is it blowing out there..stormy...1/2 to go..
Betty it was a funny touch to a stressful morning. My whole day was stressful, but I am caught up from my day off last Thursday, my goodness! Now tomorrow I get to start attacking that huge pile, and it's not a file pile! Ug!
Debbie my goodness, that's just a little scary. I'm glad you changed the appt, more than likely the PT would have had their snow all cleared but you don't know about the roads along the way, that's always my biggest fear.
I'll talk to ya'll tomorrow!
You must have been working full speed ahead Crissy to get that much done..sometimes you have to wonder if it's worth taking extra days, means you have to do double the work when you get back...
Girls in the office worked about same as you did, they are far behind with having almost 2 weeks off..for me, no pile up at all, calls that came in were assessed and booked by Christine, new employee in the city..see that she's booked pre op for her hip, guess she'll be having time off..
Greg was a sweetie, picked up all the extra shelves, I'm now putting them in, sure will make a difference in how much can be stored..
Left a note on the blackboard encouraging the girls that come painting tomorrow to take all the drawer towers home if they want...I'll keep my eye open for one more cabinet, bit more narrow for woodworking area...
Slowly but surely I'll be organized before the end of January, then I can play inside, be creative until spring...
Hello Everyone!
Got a few mins to say hi. Much to tell, lol.
Been crazy busy yesterday and today...Steve still off so not much time
to play.
I've enjoyed reading about everyones holiday.
Yikes, dinner about ready so got to wave hello and be off again.
See you soon.
Happy New Year to you.
Good morning Betty and LK and Crissy and Judy and Debbie and anyone else I may not have seen yesterday. I was busy in the sewing room for a change. I finished piecing the top for the mystery quilt and I like the way it came out. Now to decide wehter to hand or machine quilt it. It's not that big so might make a good evening project while watching TV with Norm.
It's COLD here too and the temp is going down all week. I think I might get out of the house by next April if I'm lucky. These temps just take my breath away.
Still haven't received any package yet but I'm sure looking forward to it. I really like the thread catchers and also the armchair pockets. I want to wait until I get the pattern for the afghan before I get the yarn for it. With my luck I'd pick a color and run out and then not be able to get more!!! I guess I should just get plenty and then I could make pillows or something with any leftover.
We have had the two grandsons here for the last two nights while Mom and Dad are off snowmobiling. Things had gone really well with getting them to school and picking them up again etc. Until.....last night my poor Sean tossed everything he had in his little stomach. Thank heaven it happened before bedtime and in a bucket!!!! He felt great after, evidently he had a tummy ache and never said anything to us. He slept well last night but this morning, as hungry as he said he was, he ate next to nothing. Grammy used her Grammy judgement and kept him home from school. He is now ensconsed in my bed watching TV. I talked with Mom and she said that was just fine with her that I kept him home. He is my joy and we have fun together....
Must get some laundry done so I'll gab later. Have a great day everyone.
Hi everyone!! Wow, a morning without any mishaps! Got a chiropractor appt at 11, looking forward to that!
It's cold here, we're in a winter weather advisory and supposed to get snow tonight and half the day tomorrow, but now they're decreasing the amounts :( We're down to an inch. I want a foot!!!! LOL
Waving to everyone!
Just put the micro furnace on here beside me Crissy..much like you I can't seem to warm up...brrrr...still better than snow.. only had a skim last night but had to shovel because it's painting day and don't want anyone falling..also did another garbage run to the bins next door, can't believe the crap I have...bin was only 1/2 full so I helped in fillling it..no sooner done did the pick up truck come..lordy it's handy having it there...
girls called to say they've got all the cupboard filled, all 7 towers of supplies fit in it..said they don't like it quite as much because they could just look inside the clear trays and see what they needed..oh well, I want it more organized and neater...at lunch, going to see if Canadian Tire cupboard on sale is what I need for the woodworking area..hope so, lots to organize in there as well...
Slap me silly, keep thinking if something were to happen to me at least the boys wouldn't freak at all the 'junk' lol..not that what remains is junk...I'm thrilled to death with all the sewing toys I have..maybe now that it will be more accessible, I'll enjoy getting back sewing...there are a few workshops at the quilt shop down the street, one lunch hour I'll go and see what I can register for..that always works best for me...
Can't believe all those envelopes I sent out and not one received...think someone at the border has a wife that likes to sew...
Now Barb that's something..just love the colors..you've done a marvellous job..have to go back and look to see if you are machine quilting or hand quilting it...did purchase a plastic stand up frame that would do large quilt but somewhere I've loaned it out along with my pleater for smocking and don't know where..one should almost have a book that you make a note of who has what? if hand sewing, what kind of frame do you have?
Crissy, you want a foot of snow??? how come???
Quick pop in, will catch up later....today is Laura's (zhinu) Birthday and also our Monthly Bike Club meeting night so lots to do....have a great afternoon everyone!
Tell Laura Happy Birthday for us will you..you always say Trisha that I'm the busy one, omg think you are busier than I...exciting all the same...
Enjoy your day!
Like to sew??? Barb forgot to tell you I also have the pattern for a rag quilt that looks just like a regular diamond shaped quilt ..done with flannel and is reversable...it's caled 'raggy diamonds'..have the pattern but the girl couldn't give me color photo so next visit this Friday to Fabricland I'll take a photo if you'd like it...
Barb and Norm, thank you for the pattern...excited to receive it today..will check what supplies are needed and try my skills at it...the church group are almost finished quilting so need something to set it on..I'm sure it will fit my decor...sure do appreciate it...
Hello To All;
Happy Birthday Laura !
Betty - PLEASE take care of yourself! No scares wanted ! I'm glad you did get in to see someone....and that your Dr. knows you well....
Hope you are all staying out of the cold....as much as possible. We are having Record Cold stretch in Baton Rouge. Worried about my hibiscus....but oh well... what can you do ?
I suppose that's minor for the huge snow and inconveniences everyone else is having to endure...so I'll just hope for the best...
New job sent me & four other "newbies" to a training session in Biloxi, Mississippi...at the Hard Rock Hotel.... Nice venue....although they sure kept us busy in the seminar... but we did have some good food and a few times to ourselves. Betty - funny you mention Canadian Tire...the seminar was put on by the same guy who said that Canadian Tire was the #1 Tire place in Canada !
We left Monday (I drove) and came back today. Glad to know that the company thinks enough of us to spend a few $$ on training....would have NEVER got that from the old company.
Hello Betty, Debbie, Trisha, Barb, Judy, LK, Bev, Dawn, Tubby, Liz...and to any that I have missed....
DH got me a new computer and we're having some trouble getting it hooked up....other than that...I should be on a bit more often now that I'm back in town...
WARM Hugs to all,
Mary
Find out all kinds of things....the East and South are COLD.... we are warmer than usual... a bit on the wet side...But for all we are accused of being too rainy here in the Northwest, I learned last night New Orleans and other areas in the South get far more rain per year than we do here...
.... it may be warmer than usual here but I am freezing right now. I am at the January board meeting for the Bicycle Club which is held at the State Capitol Museum. They are suffering from budget cuts and financial issues like all the rest of us....it must include keeping the heat really low " 'cause Baby it's Cold In Here!"
Mary, sounds as though you are now one of the pack and are enjoying the new job and doing a great job at it...training sessions certainly motivate one to their fullest potential..glad you'll be back on the night shift, enjoy your posts...hope your gardens survive..the good thing is they'll be back looking as pretty in the spring..
Trisha, lol..hope you are snuggled in and warm under those blankets...when I was in the hospital the metal of the windows had white frost inside right next to my bed, talk about freezing but the with the Norwalk Flu epidemic I also wondered if they lowered the heat so that it might lessen the germs???? regardless we were all freezing, was half tempted to put my leather jacket on..lol..
It's early here, tummy a bit off, couldn't sleep most of the night so finally at 4:00am decided to start my day...sitting having coffee, watching a movie and doing crochet...
Gab later
LOL Betty "Slap me silly" I haven't heard that in quite a while. Love it! I want a foot of snow so I can get some free time off work and I'll have something to do at home, like throw snowballs at Dave! LOL We got a little sleet and some rain afterwards, I thought we got a little freezing rain but nope, just sleet. Today's high happened at 6:30 this morning, it was 34*, the temp is going to keep dropping throughout the day and we're supposed to get down to the mid 20's, a low of 8 or something like that tonight. The roads were clear and dry this morning, hopefully they'll stay that way for the drive home.
Mary I hope you can get on more often, I'll be back more often when I get unbusy at work.
Have a great day everyone, and stay warm!!
Morning everyone!
Betty yuour up early, hope your tummy is b etter?
Hello Mary, glad you got some training, and a new computer for the house. How nice. You will have it hooked up in no time, and be back here chatting along.
Crissy, you stay warm. It was 35 when I got up this morning, but is supposed to get up to 45. Then back down to 22 for the low tonight. Even Florida is freezing!
Tubby and Shirley, if your lurking, please know we are all thinking of you and sending prayers.
Laura from down under, thinking of and praying for you too! We have not heard from you in awhile, and hope all is well?
Later
LK
Hi taters55
cold here ..........
Tubby
Temp here is 26 degrees, been snowing for several hours, ground is covered with a fine white blanket, BUT now it is raining ice crystals. I've never seen this before. Weird!
Hello Tubby, so nice to see you! Hope your feeling better? Say hello to Shirley for us!
Waving and sending hugs Tubby..sure do miss you...
Marti, you be careful then going out if you are not used to such weather...same goes for you Crissy..now why on earth would you want to throw snowballs at Dave? Have you left him a 'honey do' list while you are working? is the list working? lol..doubtful right..
I'm thrilled with the minus temps..means no snow..don't have to shovel cold right? still great for outdoor sports and yet safe for those driving...
LindaKay, keep wanting to say good afternoon when it's still morning..guess getting up at 4:35 makes the day seem as though it should be afternoon...
Drats..I've wanted you all to get those packages and still not one received...must be over a week at least since they were shipped..just got Barb's envelope yesterday, I should have checking the postage date to see how long it took...
Still early, maybe some of you will get them today...
LOL Marti usually that's all we get, freezing rain, very dangerous.
Betty, he creates his own Honey Do list, it's wonderful LOL! I want to throw snowballs at him because he kept me up all night long, got about 1 1/2 hrs sleep last night because of his burping and snoring.
LOL, glad you told me WHY you were up all night, I was thinking other things..
