Today's Weather in Your Garden - 59

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice wintery shots Bill, hope you are feeling better this am. All of you down there in Florida hope some warm returns for you and then you can send a little up this way too okay.
Just starting to get light outside. Temp is 21 and a minimal light wind from the west. Should be sunny today with a high right around freezing. When is the Jan. thaw? Hope it lasts at least a week. Or two or three. Sick of dark mornings and snow and cold, let's get a move on spring.

(Zone 5b)

21 degrees...my eyes aren't open enough to tell if it's cloudy or not lol

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thats 10 days without sun........do they actually question if Seasonal Depression is real??
I think im living proof. :( :( :( (Thats me, myself & I)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Mostly clear and 17. Heard on the radio that they're expecting the coldest winter locally in over 30 years. Yeah - global warming. Uh huh.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Well that helped Victor.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sorry! What a bummer with the lack of sun.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hee hee he, just teasing you........gotta keep my sense of humor some how. ^_^

It's dreary here and I have to keep myself from looking out at it. Also, can hear the boats and snowmobiler's looking for the local boy still. At this point they think they found an oil slick on the open part of the big lake. China Lake has 2 basins, one is long narrow and only about 50 feet deep. The other part of it it round and much deeper, all together there is almost 4000 acres of lake for them to search.

From the newspaper:
"For over 20 hours throughout the weekend storm, the Warden Service and a team of volunteers searched hundreds of miles by land. Members of 13 area snowmobile clubs combed the trails surrounding China Lake using GPS to track areas already covered.

On Monday, wardens focused on the water by air and water, using a helicopter and boats to get a complete look at China Lake."

My BIL talked to a warden and he said the fact that his cell phone is not being picked up and the oil they found on the open water....it doesn't look good.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

27°, windchill 13°, wind NW 12, Sunny

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Doesn't sound too good for that missing boy. The poor parents, I can't even imagine what they must be going through.
The weather guy lied, again. No sign of sunny skies just clouds and more clouds. Temp has zipped up to 26 degrees and the wind has picked up from the NW.
Doom and gloom as my mom says. So cheery don't ya know. :)

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

26° and sunny for the moment. Had snow again this morning and when I got off work. DH was called in early to take care of snow(4am)

(Zone 5b)

I saw a little patch of blue in the gray today, that's all it takes to give me hope.

I was wondering about the boy's cell phone....

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Snippets of sun today--definitely dark now^_^

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hang in there with all that cold and dreary weather, Pals! Pixie, I'm so sorry to hear that you have been so whacked by the sunless stretch of days. I have good news for Karen! The weather guy said tonight that this record-breaking lengthy freeze will turn around on Tuesday and temps will go back to the 70s. I think it will be a nice week for you and your Dad, Karen!

My plants are covered again tonight, with only 6 more nights of low 30s to go! Things are looking ok so far when I uncover them. Hank plans to play golf in the low 30s temps early tomorrow morning. Nuts, huh?! I'll bet none of the natives in the league show up!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's for sure! Floridians start shivering in the 60's!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

You've got it, Victor! This morning on the news they were interviewing northerners in their bathing suits sitting out on the beach. The weather guy was in a heavy winter jacket and ski cap. Funny.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. My cuz (originally a NYer) would be amazed that I would go to the beach there in January - in the 60's and 70's.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Actually, 60s and 70s down here are good beach weather. 30s and 40s ... not so much.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

25 now going up to 34

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Same here. Wind kicking up. At least it's sunny.

Hard to believe, but I already noticed a difference in the light! When I dropped my kids off at religion yesterday it was still rather bright. Just a few weeks back it was not. Yay!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Overcast on Nantucket. Blah day. 27* 10mph wind.

South Hamilton, MA

21 & sunny.Less wind however.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Yeah sun is out! Temp doesn't seem to notice though at 20 degrees. May heat up to around freezing. Getting a little colder as the week progresses but with sunshine at least. Wind still light for now from the NW.

Cold out there. A tree service is at the top of the driveway and taking down 2 BIG bad trees. 1 is a pine that has some type of disease.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor, next time you send the kids to get some religion, you might want to sit in! LOL

What's wrong with this picture????????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I avoid church religiously!

NH temps!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

What's wrong with that picture, Louise, is that temp, and no snow to go with it.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Its only about 10 degrees warmer than my thermometer reads. Those lemons must be a bit chilled. Hope it warms up soon down there.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thats terrible Louise!

I was just watching a video on one area of new York that has 55" of snow. It has been snowing on the average 2X aday since Dec. 28th........9 days and 55 inches of snow with more for this weekeend!!!!
Also said 4 people died in Tenn. when temps dropped down to 12 degree's. So sad.
Global warming, where are you now????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's very sad. Especially in the middle of a recession.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

No doubt we will cook this summer. Sun out now. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

28 here

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Pixie, that's us!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

28° and the freezing rain has stopped. Snow to come later. I had to drive to work with the defrost on high and use the wipers to keep my windshield clear. It kept freezing over even after I scrapped it. Yuck!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh my, Polly!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, we're all over the news. It's actually Fulton that's on the news about 8 miles away, but we have more snow than they do. We're headed towards six feet. Got the roof shoveled off today.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

29°, windchill 22°, wind WNW 8mph, Sunny

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

cold and cold...watching for snow Thurs into Fri
Russian(Orthodox) Christmas tomorrow, growing up my mom always said it always snows on Russian Christmas, I think last year was the first year it didn't but snowed a few days later(if I remember correctly)

(Zone 5b)

sunny and temp is reading 34, but it reads a few degrees higher.
It doesn't look like we're getting any of that snow :(

South Hamilton, MA

Snow predicted for off shore with only a couple of inches here. but it will shill be cold. Hope you have a freezer full of food, Polly.
