Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

celeste it looks like you will be hit hard with snow tomorrow

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

yes I know....maybe up 2 feet. Weatherman said we will measure this storm in "FEET" not inches. Yippee!
DGD,DD & SIL are ecstatic as they have new snowmobiles. I have a new generator. ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh no - big storm to start the new year, Celeste? Good luck!

24 and mostly cloudy here. Chance of some snow over the next two or three days.

Going to the Army hockey game tomorrow night so I hope the weather cooperates.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

34°, wind NNW 2mph, overcast
Cleared out the snow from the high traffic areas, It'll be ice for the next few days...

South Hamilton, MA

In the 30s, not sure of the forecast as I spent the morning watching the rose parade.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I watched the parade too--Amazing floats!

South Hamilton, MA

Managed on HGTV so no commercials. Enjoyed the horses as well, but every time they came on they had a silly lady back at the start making remarks. Why don't they let us watch without distractions.

Snowing on and off, on and off. 4-8" predicted between today and tomorrow.

The guys have cleared unwanted trees for 2 weeks. Still has a bit to do on the tree line. Jim put them all in a pile for a bonfire some night.

You're allowed to light bonfires?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

28 now.. and that's our high... snow on & off today

wow Sherrie that's some space.. putting in new beds?

Yes but you have to have a permit, and dont cost nothing. Cant be so close to houses, trees etc. They come out and look if they are in question.

NO beds out there. If you look - it drops off like 10-12 feet. If anything just grass.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Weather report looks like this.......It's actually a "SEVERE WEATHER WARNING" they issued us.

LOOK FOR SNOW TO BECOME STEADIER AND HEAVIER TODAY...AS NORTH
WINDS INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES
TONIGHT...AND WINDS WILL GUST TO 40 MPH AT TIMES. THE COMBINATION
MAY RESULT IN NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS LATER THIS EVENING AND
DURING THE OVERNIGHT.

THE SNOW WILL BECOME LIGHTER SUNDAY AS LOW PRESSURE DROPS SOUTH OF
THE REGION. BY THAT TIME...NEW SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FOR TODAY...TONIGHT
AND SUNDAY WILL RANGE FROM 8 TO 16 INCHES...WITH THE HIGHEST
AMOUNTS ACROSS CENTRAL MAINE. BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL
CONTINUE SUNDAY AS WINDS GUST TO 40 MPH.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW
ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN
EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA
FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN
EMERGENCY.

I live in Central Maine.....lucky me!
This was yesterday, day #1.

oh boy... sorry to hear that.. and if you were Michele you would always have those things in your car in the winter.. don't forget the coffee can with sand in it.. so you can use a candle for heat

;)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ha ha, not to worry Allison, im staying right here beside the fireplace and PC.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I would be home too!

South Hamilton, MA

How about tree boughs for mulch instead ot bonfire? We will be getting snow as well, but less than Maine.

Husband said even if the limbs were chipped they would take around 10 years to decompose. I guess that depends how thick also.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Light snow all morning. Temp is 34 degrees with a light wind. Over the next few days we should get 3-6 inches down here. Depends how far the storm backs in from the ocean. You all up north are getting the real heavy stuff. Take care and stay warm.

(Zone 5b)

31 degrees, I don't think we're getting anything but flurries!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ugh - good luck, Celeste! 26 and overcast.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Beautiful shot of your dogs on the snowy brook bank, Patti. Also found that story of the car driving into your house fascinating. Glad it turned out ok for everyone! I can relate because of our road being so close to the house in NH.

Wow, Celeste, that sounds like quite a system coming in up there for you. Hope you enjoy the beauty of it!! Stay warm!

Sherrie - interesting to hear your report because that is likely what we are getting at the farm. Looks like Jim is pretty busy outside these days! Happy New Year and I hope this year treats you better than last year!!!!!

Victor - how's your hip doing today? Stay off the ice! Hope it's better soon!

I had to go out and cover my tomatoes and impatiens and coleus, etc. last night and will have to do it again for the next 5 nights here...30's with pretty good wind chill. Hope Robindog doesn't freeze up in her area when they arrive! Nice andsunny out there now, 50's today and very breezy. We took the dogs on a walk earlier and it was pleasant even though pretty chilly.

Stay warm and well everyone! Happy New Year to you all!
Louise

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

30 here and we also got about 4" overnight - just finished cleaning that up and waiting for more.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Have fun, Victor! Glad you are better!!

WC - that's a pretty shot....sure looks cold though!!

South Hamilton, MA

About 5+" overnight. Roads are sort of plowed & DH says they are too slick to drive for us. Have no idea what the main rd is like. Wonder how many tree branches will come down as they are bent way over. Drs. appoint ment for eye on tues afternoon, so worried that more snow will affect that since he has to come out from Boston.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, (slightly colder than Orlando Donniebrook, my SIL says it was 35° there when I talked to her last night, they're supposed to go down to 33° tonight, I bet they're firing up the heaters for the citrus fields!)

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

22° and flurries. We had snow last night too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Windy and brutally cold out there! 17 with below zero wind chills.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Our high today was 26*F and windy with gust. I went out about 2pm to fill the feeders for the birds and hens. I decided to take 5 before going back out for coal and ashes. That cold air sets me to coughing inspite of feeling better. I'll probably have broncitis till July at this rate. I hope at least the wind lays down a bit tomorrow for our trip to Longwood. Ric

South Hamilton, MA

Can hear the wind blow & I know the prediction is for more snow.

Fredericton N B, Canada(Zone 4a)

This is what it looks like out my front door JOY

(Zone 5b)

they changed our forecast to 1-3 inches....

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Got 6" by the time it stopped snowing ~2pm, very dry fluffy stuff easy to clean. Unfortunately the same cant be said about the roads which are ice skating rinks now!

Temp 17° windchill -10°, wind NW 18mph, mostly cloudy - expecting high winds tomm.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just back from the game. Brutally cold! Walking to the car was awful. Especially since they lost - 2-1 in overtime. Good game.
