Offical Muffler Sulking Section etc part 3

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Hummm I could call the national guard and report furniture attacking you... They might air vac you out...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh, the mice would definitely assist because everybody would run out screaming except for Wren because she is clever, and then she would have the house to herself until it was time to go home. Attacking beds are bad. It reminds me of the French incident and the air mattress from Walmart. Ugh. I feel your pain, Wren.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Dear Wren do the puppypaddle and ride the aire waves! Those floaty type beds should be sold as boatish things as they can drown you for sure!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

My Dearest Claire...
I remember early in this thread, you said something to me... That you were sure there would be other christmas suprises for me and Billy that would come..

Tonight, some friends stopped by with a box. This was just not any box, it was a huge box filled with food, potato's, can veggies, can fruit, treats for Billy, rolls and a turkey. It was a welcome christmas suprise.... I know you have the Chicken Fairy's ear, but it would seem to me you also have a higher power's ear as well...

I also have a new tradition that Billy and I will be starting thanks to J...

It is the most wonderful time of the year...

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh Wren.. I hear it now.. "no I am sorry, I cannot join you for tea.. my close friend msjestr is haveing a NWD breakdown and I am the only person that can assist her.. you will ALL have to excuse me until I complete this very important mission."
Then you can tell them the "GENERAL" commanded you to complete it in a timely manner... lol

Isn't family wonderful!!!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

OH I survived the night but just barely. That Sleep Number bed did not have my number. There was a loudly ticking clock-who in their right mind has a loud ticking clock in their bed room, and a large blow fly buzzing me at 2 am. AND MY DM SNORES!!!! HELP!!!!

One day down and 3 to go. Dearly Great Spirit protect me!!!1

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

MissJestr, what a wonderful surprise you got; aren't people truly fantastic? I'll bet Billy was beside himself to see all the goodies inside, to say nothing of how you felt! They are real friends...I'm so glad to hear about that!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

What a wonderful Christmas surprise MissJ!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Yes I am truly blessed and thankful for everything that has happened in the past few weeks... Including meeting you Dahlianut...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

oh MissJ - what a lovely surprise!! I don't know why I thought it, but I just felt there would be other surprises on the way to you. For once I was right! Haha! Let's hope I was right about things on my exams too!

Wren - I think that Fran's idea is superb. You must depart on a very important mission. Yes, I can see it now, 'Woman Leaves Family Christmas Celebration to Deliver NWD" all over the papers!

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Oh yes Wren, I have a couch that folds out to a bed, never been used still in new condition.. that would be better than air..

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I wish I could come see everyone. The clock has been removed from the room and the fly has been killed now it is only the bed and my DM's snoring. LOL

Richmond, TX

Sounds like you're getting things under control.

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

Are you sure it's not the clock that's been killed and the fly removed? That would be my course of action... Oh, sorry, DS. One of Santa's elves smacked it. I tried to stop him, but the little bugger was just too quick...
All that yarn and you don't know what to do about DM's snoring? Oh, Claire must teach you to make socks...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Catsy is the sock expert - it was she who tutored me!

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

Ah! I think we should dispatch Catsy ASAP on a humanitarian sock mission to Wren...

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I was thinking more in the line of a "muffler"

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

I think that would only damp the sound... what you need is a good night's sleep [so you don't become murderous homicidal maniac, resulting in Santa overlooking your good qualities and leaving a lump of coal], so you need full stop on DM snoring... stuffing a sock in it.

But because she's your mother, it can't be just any sock, it must be handcrafted sock. Out of appreciation for all she's done to.... I mean for you. =0)

Silenced by the Divine?

Clarkson, KY

lolol.....

Lodi, United States

That sounds a little permanent.....

Clarkson, KY

It does sounds rather ominous, doesn't it?

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes that is a little to much besides other than snoring like a steam engine, she is a good mom.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

This is why I have a SleepMate. It's a little fan encased in a housing with holes, and you can adjust the size of the holes so that it is louder or softer, and it just creates this nice white noise all night long, so that you can sleep through things like snoring, thunderstorms, dogs sighing, roosters crowing, etc. I don't sleep through the weather radio alarm though, which is good, in case of tornadoes.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Well get to go the shrimp are almost done

Wishing everyone a great Christmas

Lodi, United States

Really, Moxon? It drowns out roosters crowing? I have been thinking about "supressing" my DH's supranatural sensitivity to sounds by using the "Divine Method", but perhaps something less drastic might be employed....?

Merry Christmas, Wren!

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

Socks are permeable to oxygen, but there is that pesky problem of lint in the teeth... a whole new meaning to cotton-mouth.

I can't stand white noise, it wears me out and I wake up more exhausted than when I fell asleep.

Lodi, United States

Jayryunen, you are too kind....no really tooooooo kind. DH is enraged by the song of birds...Divine retribution is probably the most karmic response.

However, as I am plagued by guilt.....

So Moxon, I looked up the SleepMate 580/980...do you have the single speed or two speed?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Indeed Catsy, it really does. Here is what we have:
http://www.marpac.com/soundscreen.asp

It is much better than the "nature sounds" and such because those are taped loops of sound, and anyone who is sensitive to sound will pick up on the loop and be anticipating the end/start portion, which prevents sleep. This is a constant air flow sound and is not a recording, it's a fan, so it doesn't have that looping problem.

Jay - I initially got it when I had to live in apartments with noisy neighbors and had no sleep as a result. I think I got used to it then and have found it excellent for drowning out extraneous noises, including the irritating children I used to live next door to, who had limited parental supervision and would be trampolining and skateboarding (ker-thunk, ker-thunk over the curb) after midnight on school nights. Made me nuts....thank goodness for my sleep machine! I either require almost dead silence, or white noise. Either one and I sleep like a log. Otherwise...not so much.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh, the 980, dual speed.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Even with the single speed model, there would be quite a good variability of sound level because the top of the unit has holes that can be adjusted, and also the sides, so you can really vary the level of sound quite considerably even at single speed.

Lodi, United States

Obrigada!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oooh, we have transitioned to Portuguese now....gracious!

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

obrigada? that sounds rather potteresque... does something come out the end of your knitting needle now? Oh my...

hmmm i usually fall asleep to the ringing in my ears ? LOLLL
Cmoxon i have had neighbors like that before more than once
In AZ we had a neighbor who's dog would bark all day long and all night. Seriously. ! i would wake to him barking and i would go to sleep with him barking. drove me nuts. i wanted to hurt the stupid owner of the dog more ! i just wanted the dog to shut up ! i even went to a vet to see if they could get me a sleeping pill to give the dog at night so he could sleep too ! no such luck.
The kids were even worse !
that is what made me move to the country .
i love absolute quiet.
i do love crickets at night.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Taynors - me too. That is at least 50% of the reason that I decided to move out here to the country. Love the quiet. Love the stars on a dark night. Love the fact that I can have sheep. Did I mention I love the quiet?!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

OMG porkpal is proposing 'silencing by the divine'; Dr Doolotz is proposing some whirry spacey air hummer thingy and Cousin Catscan is gettin perky about that. HELLO? Did everyone forget that Santa comes tonight???? I'm thinkin he might be a tad worried about divine silencing and whirry hummer thingys. Just a thought to think methinks.

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

i agree dahlianut...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

The whirry spacey air hummer thingy prevents me from hearing the reindeer hooflets on the roof, see. So it's OK, because Santa doesn't want me to wake up for his arrival. it's supposed to be a secret and everything.

The divine silencing is the domain of Porkpal and she''ll have to give us the lowdown on that.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Santa has professed to me many a time in our monthly correspondence that he is very lonely cuz everyone thinks that he doesn't want to be seen. AU CONTRAIRE! Santa much prefers to sit and have a refreshing beverage and a chat. After all he only gets to hang with elves most of the year.
