jadajoy--congrats! I know how hard it is--years ago, I tried and couldn't hack it! Enjoy your celebration--don't you dare settle for IHOP! This is a big deal^_^
Coffee Break #26 - Feeling like winter!
Thanks all! Okay. No IHOP. I'm thinking Sushi in this new Japanese restaraunt that just opened. It looks swanky :-)
Sushi on pancakes!
That'll work!!!
Jada, how wonderful for you, it gave me pleasure to read the good news
Thanks Maria, I am poofing a little :-)
Forum fist-bump!

There are crazy people out there.
Congrats Jadajoy!!
congratulations Joyce!!! What an accomplishment.
Dnut, I love NM. I'll be there in a week!
Oh, God, Victor. That's terrible. And I was in such a good mood.
I'm very happy for you, Joyce! Finals can be brutal!
Brrrrr! Cold today.
Was filling my pellet stove yesterday when I happened to feel the wall to the side of the stove (the stove is in the corner of the room) and it was really hot. This is a few feet away. This told me that mucho heat was being wasted, as this is an outside wall with minimal insulation. So I got two large pieces of cardboard and covered them with reflective insulating foil that I have. Put each against the walls on either side. Incredible difference! Temperature of the room rose almost five degrees! I will get some plywood and do it better. Amazing what radiant heat can do.
Victor, thanks for useful info.
You're welcome. Wish I discovered this earlier.
So cold this morning. Trying to pick up frozen dog poo and hold the giant scooper with frozen hands is hard!! Snow storm advisory watch is in effect for tomorrow. Glad the shopping is done!
I think you have a better chance of getting it there than we do, Ronnie.

Ronnie, I rather pick up frozen poop less smell.
Victor, do you have a pellet stove that was an insert into a fireplace or a free standing?
Free standing.
ok, that would make sense then that the wall was getting warm.
People don't realize just how much heat is radiated, as compared to 'convection', where the warm air rises. Radiated heat goes in all directions. Years ago I put double foil with a bubble insulated middle between all my baseboard heaters and the wall.
Beaming up from Santa Fe. Spent yesterday on a walkabout. Today up to see the gardens on Canyon Road. Tomorrow native crafts and artists market. Sofonisba where'st and when'st will you be in NM? You have been holding out :O
That's a good idea about the foil behind the baseboard heaters. I'll add that on my list of 'to dos'. Any pointers?
I will be flying into Albuquerque on the 24th, staying at various homes (mother and two sisters) in Taos County and leaving Jan. 4th. It'll be fun!
Am interested in the foil too Victor, is it a special foil for that purpose?
It can be used for many applications. The one I used is like the one described here with the double bubble layer. I don't remember what I paid, but it certainly paid for itself eventually.

Nice idea. Can I use it for radiators?
Thanks for all the conrats. I had a good time. The JR was crowded and slow so I dragged everyone to IHOP. I know the staff there so my meal was free :-) I also went to see Avatar. It was really really good. If you go, see the 3D version with the glasses. A treat!
Sure - if the wall behind the radiator is an outside wall, then it's worth doing. Somehow I knew you'd end up at IHOP!
Thanks victor, was just looking at my baseboard heaters, but I don't think I can manage to do that, wouldn't even know how.
brought my pc in for a clean and restore as it has been going at a crawl for a while - the guys deleted my pictures which they were not supposed to do - fortunately had them backed up, still took almost an hour to put them back on
they deleted most of my applications - actually all of them except outlook and office - the bastards did not tell me that would happen! in the process now of re-installing and/or downloading from the web and installing - this is going to take a while! i did not have these backed up. what a pain in the butt!l
Those creeps! Sorry to hear that Bill.
Our local Staples is doing one of those freebie computer cleaning, I wouldn't trust them to do that.
phoebe, that was too funny!!!! Love the last line.
So thankful hubby finally got the pellet stove running.
I use defragment to clean up the drive, system restore is not for general 'housecleaning'.
so i search to get mcafee re-installed - i called a 800 number and some indian try's to push me to spend $230 to fix the pc and will not re-install mcafee untill i agree - i have a two year contract - spent at least an hour on the phone with this guy thinking he was helping - at times i heard clapping in the background - i think it was the call center folks cheering on a co-worker who got some sucker who agreed - next week i will fix this situation - not a happy camper
