Thought for the Day #5
For my husband...
No man is worthy of your tears. But when you find one who is, he won't make you cry.
Well this is likely to be my last post for a few days. I'm here at the "Vista" house for my second load of the day. I may leave the 'net hooked up for one more day. It'll depend on how ambitious I am tonight. If I make one more trip, it'll be for the computer and desk. If not I'll get that tomorrow.
KC, yes I do have DSL at the new place, however, it's just to the outside of the house. I have to install phone jacks inside and that'll have to wait until I have everything moved.
One quick thought.....
Saturday Thought for the Day:
When someone offers you a penny for your thoughts, and you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny?
We're gonna miss you----hope you and your sweetie will be together in the new place!
kwan, ahhh! I don't know what your DH did, but give him a hug from me.
DP, we'll miss you, and I completely get it about the phone lines. Have fun crawling under the house, or better yet, see if you can install the line on the outside of the house. Much easier than crawling, on your stomach muscles. : - )
Don't overdo it.
Can't wait to meet Lisa! : - )

I understand McDonald's now has free internet Wifi.. Bring your own dinner and camp out. We will miss you. also your local library. When my son, the Doctor is called up, he is in the Army reserve, he takes his computer and starts it up. There is always a fool somewhere near without a pass code on their wifi access.
Too true, Sharon. One of the reasons I was so angry at HH for charging me for internet (I didn't pay the $12/day fee), during the Bee Convention. I could go down the road to Denny's and get free internet. The library is great too, especially if you don't have a laptop.
My son has sat in the car with his lap top on, while DH is driving down the road and been able to get on people's unsecured WiFi. You know lap tops are so great for doing that with. Just drive around until you get a strong signal then piggy back onto someone else's system.
Not that I've done it, but people do.
Sharon, I didn't know you have a son in the Army Reserves. My EB#2 has been to Iraq twice now, and to Korea recently. He is also in the Army Reserves. Thankfully, this year he will be at home with his dear family. : - )
We'll have to wait and see how long it takes for DP to go through DG withdrawals! LOL! : - )

LOL SW, I gave hubby his hug and he looked surprised. He doesn't know what he did, either. What he does is special to me but he doesn't know it is. It's just him, being him.
Knowledge talks, wisdom listens.
Sweet, kwan! Keep him guessing.
Nice thought too. One I should practice more.

Two GOOD ones in a row! Wish I could listen better. Compulsive motor-mouth!
Have compassion for everyone you meet, even if they don't want it. What appears bad manners, an ill temper or cynicism is always a sign of things no ears have heard, no eyes have seen. You do not know what wars are going on down there where the spirit meets the bone.
Miller Williams
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. ~Dr. Seuss
Love it! Thanks, Marie.
Perfect!!
Believe it or not, I never read Dr Seuss! That's a great quote.
Watch the movie Sis!! I loved that quote too. I read Dr. Seuss to the boys a lot. Loved stories with a lesson especially when they didn't know they were getting one. LOL
Wouldn't life be worth the living
Wouldn't dreams be coming true
If we kept the Christmas spirit
All the whole year through?
I can't be a legend yet. I'm not dead. Maynard James Keenan
Marie,
This is my favorite part,
"And what happened then . . . . ?
Well . . . . in Whoville they say
that the Grinch's small heart
Grew three sizes that day!
And the minute his heart didn't feel quit so tight,
He whizzed with his load through the bright morning light
And he brought back the toys! And the food for the feast!
And he . . .
. . . HE HIMSELF . . . !
The Grinch carved the roast beast!"
By Dr. Seuss
KC, You should watch the original cartoon version, not the version starring Jim Carrey, first. I always looked forward to the "Special" at Christmas time, and when my kids were old enough I read them the story and we watched the movie together. Still is my favorite Christmas story.
Happy Solstice to those who missed it yesterday. LOL!
Good ones today, kwan and Marie! : - )

KC,
I love that part too Jules!!!
I love ALL the parts. It's one of my favorites, too.
I'll be online all through the Holidays but I know some of you won't. To everyone, I wish you a safe and jolly weekend, however long it is for you. I'm going to miss whomever is not on until their return.
If you can't find love, if you can't find joy, if you can't find riches, at least find contentment. Me
My fav is still Miracle on 34th Street - the original with Natalie Wood and Maureen O'Hara.
I spent most of the day on the phone with AT&T trying to get my internet connection set up. I called them at 8am. I had the phone to my ear a total of approximately 7 hours over the next 12. I got off the phone with the last tech at 7:55pm. I have internet though. I guess one day of my life is not too much to spend to get to visit with all you wonderful people. Merry Christmas to all of you. I hope the season brings you all the good things in life. May your 2010 be the best year ever for each of you.
Tuesday Thought for the Day:
TWAS THE NIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.
THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.
TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
I GOBBLED UP HAM AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.
MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY,
MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS.
MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR CHRISTMAS DINNER
STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
LOL - glad you're back with us, DP! Merry Christmas to you, too. We're having prime rib of bison!
Wow!! That sounds great!! Hey, you know I live just a couple of miles from you now......Bison, huh?? LOL.
We're having prime rib too, but not bison.
DP.....congratulations for getting your internet connected so quickly. LOL
Merry Christmas from Oregon everyone!!
I like the cartoon version best also. But my favorite is Christmas Story.

Perhaps the best Yuletide decoration is being wreathed in smiles
DP glad you are back!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sally, did I ever mention I have a DB in Keizer? Maybe next time we're visiting them, I'll look you up.
Rest not. Life is sweeping by; go and dare before you die. Something mighty and sublime, leave behind to conquer time.

Kwanjin, you go right by here on the way. We would be a good rest stop!
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

It's a deal! LOL
You'll like it, kwanjin - beautiful views and peaceful. The people are OK, too! LOL
Hubby and I go every year. He wants to move there but it looks like it may not happen.
Sorry, but I MUST share these...

kwan,
Are you typing those HS quotes in while you're watching the episode?
Great one Marie! : - )
Wreathed in smiles. I really like that.
DP, only 7 hours, and they spoke understandable English? Me hat's off to you!
You know all the old movies are great, but who doesn't like "It's a Wonderful Life"? Although, I do like "Miracle on 34th St." in the original version, like you KC. : - )
DP, thanks for really making me laugh.
Thought for the day, It is wise when ordering online to have the driver deliver the packages outside the gate, otherwise the dogs (Spirit I'm sure), will think it is a present for him. He has to be told it is not his, and then he leaves it alone. Now ES and I have to search the yard for His Dad's Christmas Shirts.
LOL!
For those of you who aren't around, Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas. The same to those who will, but you'll be hearing from me during the Holidays.
WIB!
SW
No, SW, I don't. LOL I have the kind of memory that holds very strange items. I can quote movies until people run screaming into the night but I can't remember where I parked the truck at the store! LOL

I lose my car every day but it is my dreams. I wish someone would tell me how to fix this. Every night I am looking for my car or my DH's car and I cannot find it. I have forgotten where I parked or someone has stolen it or they have changed the area where I parked. Sounds like a deep seated problem...
Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts!!
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!
I had 'net service for a while, but something happened. They're supposed to have it fixed by the weekend. I'll have to grab a minute here and there on a friends to keep up a little. This one is from my son's house.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I'm still in the midst of a move. LISA'S HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday Thought for the Day:
Politically Correct Santa:
'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves",
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.
And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!
The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.
Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened."
And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she'd enough of this life,
Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he'd ne'er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.
Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific.
No candy or sweets...they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.
For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.
No baseball, no football...someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.
He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you've got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.
Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere...even you.
So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...
"May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth."
Nice----and congrats on your renewed spousal enhancement!!!
Priceless, DP. Hi Lisa!!!
