I noticed he doesn't go after muscari, (the 'guys' a gourmet!!), so I'm trying a few in a new bed I just made this Fall, if it works I'll plant more nxt yr. I used to use Cayenne pepper, but now he just thanks me for adding a little extra spice... (lol!)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We have a killer cat.She has eliminated most of the rabbits here.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice chionodoxa, Victor.

At least the squirrels left you a pretty crocus, Watercan2.

Beautiful Chuck Chapman iris Lucy! It looks quite black.

Shadow sniffing the crocuses is sooooo cute!

going to work is my excuse

:)

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I'd be on my way out the door if I weren't working this light duty schedule--I didn't know you worked--I yhink you don't sleep much! LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hhmm guess the wind is kicking up... just heard my garbage cans roll down the driveway.. 6 hours is my limit on sleep

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

6 hours is my minimum limit if I have to function at work. If I can stumble through the day, can get by on 3 or 4. Though I should stay off the puter in that case--LOL

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We are due for 25 mph winds and snow. Counting down to more light hours than dark ones.

South Hamilton, MA

OK iris pictured above I think is ID as Gnu Blues as shown in Plant files pic. It is a broken color iris (from an erratic gene). Batik is also broken color--but dark blue ground rather than white. Not a weather remark but iris was posted on this thread. High winds earlier this morning, but seem to have passed on.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Pixie and IrisMa, my Iris does look like 'Gnu Blues'

Hopefully no snow here but it is darn cold and windy!

Lilacs have to be the best memory smell for me...we had one when I was growing up, my mother's favorite...we always took bouquets to school for the teachers and made the crown for the Blessed Mother during the May procession.(clearly I am showing my age here!)

Whoops, I am allergic to lilacs. I told my asthma Dr. & he said that it was probably tree pollen problem. A couple of yrs later he told me that he had walked into a room with lilacs in a vase & his eyes started to run. I was very good & didn't say 'Told you so'. After all there were not many trees except the elms along a street where I grew up. Needless to say I have not gone on the 'liac walk' at the Arnold Arboretum.

luvs - my mom always gave me bouquets of lilacs to give to the nuns at school. It's a sweet memory that always resurfaces when mine are in bloom.

White of a flower replacing the white snow. An exchange I will happily make every spring

You bet! Thankfully, we don't get much. That should come back to haunt me.

Love all the crocus pics, specially the ones with Shadow in the lawn. Mine very often get decapitated by squirrels.
Wow those tulips look like you could take a whiff, what detail.
Iris, daffs and violets are certainly waaaaay better than looking at snow.
Lilacs just mean garden season is here for me. I always think of the Memorial Day parade when I see them. When I was a kid in my little town, all the children would march at the end of the parade with flowers from the garden, usually lilacs, and directed by a member of VFW place them on vets graves that had no flowers. Sadly they no longer have that tradition there. Kids always knew what Memorial Day was really about, not just a parade and day off school.
Here is a pic from end of April. Things just getting started. The moving wind thingy to help keep Bambi away from the tulips and hosta that are emerging. Works pretty well along with smelly garlic peanut butter like stuff on bamboo stakes.

Ronnie, that's a gorgeous color lilac.

Pretty spring bulbs!

Patti, what a beautiful neat spring bed. There's nothing like seeing a neat, spring bed to make you wish for spring. All the little spring bulbs in nice neat little clumps. Can you tell I like nice neat spring beds, LOL.

Jen, pretty rhody.

I do have a lilac picture to give you folks a break from my iris pictures.
