Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

now we're talkin moon, my datsun was an S-10 it would fly! For a four cylinder that is. Had a toyota, first stick shift. Blowed the motor cause I thought you had to gear down all gears before you came to a stop. Should have seen my eyes if somebody bowed up in front of me LOL

DH swapped cars with his bro one night while I was working....He and a friend had a couple three too many and I had to drive home....Tempest was a stick and I had never driven one before....what a trip...our drive way went almost straight up a hill....took me a bunch of tries, had a city cop sitting in the street just waiting to pop a DUI...on one of our many rolls to the bottom of the hill he got out and came to the car...He and DH went to school together...DH wasn't driving and I wasn't drinking so all okay, but he nearly choked laughing at me trying to get that beggar up that hill in corksoled clogs and no idea what i was doing....grin Until the BAT, every car we had was a standard...I prefer them, but DH and DS decided clutch was too hard on my knees....I miss my clutch....grin

Hubby put a I think 425 engine in my Vega. Keep hearing spinning tires when I took off at red lights and couldn't see the road anymore for about 50 feet.

LOL I love my 89 Ranger too...has over 200, 000 miles on it got a rebuilt engine when it hit 200,000....the brakes just finally gave out and all the plastic parts are beginning to disintegrate....DS said he felt it was no longer safe so he wouldn't work on it...he and DH found the BAT....

OK I'm back.
Had to wait 5 hours to get tires on the car. If I hadn't needed them so bad they could have stuffed that buy 3 get one free. Because it was really buy 3 and get one half Price because if you got 4 you had to pay full price and not the sale price

So went to my sons visited GS Dillon and had supper before I came home.
It sure drives and rides lots better. We can go 4 wheelin now....and get out of the ditch ourself...LOL

I have to go back to read what you been doing today.

Delhi, LA

When I was ten we moved to Louisiana. One day Dad put me in the old International truch he had bought. We drove to the middle of the pasture and he stopped. This is the clutch, this is the break, this is the starter. This is how you put it in low, straight up is second and straight down is third. Learn how to drive, when we start planting cotton you are going to have to know how. With that, he got out and walked home.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

That is surely the best way to learn....that and bare feet, so you can feel the point where the clutch engages and disengages....you must have had a grand scary time Jim.

Delhi, LA

Didn't scare me at all but some of the cow's didn't give milk for a week.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL..too funny Jim
