I hope someday to see how beautiful the aroids are in a tropical climate. It must be just beautiful to see them thriving in their element. For now, I'll do my best to have a jungle indoors so I can enjoy what I can :).

That is a beautiful picture of what I call a heart leaf philo.. Its nice, smooth and glossy..

I think my confusion with the trade was just a common case of common name syndrome.. lol, good thing I told her the following in our first discussions of the trade...

"Hi,

LOL, Whats funny is I didn't know that it was called Philodendron Verrucosum. I had to go take a look at my "have list" to see what you were talking about.. : ) I'm pretty new at this...a couple years maybe, and I'm not good at remembering the latin names. I NEED to know them, I just don't remember them well. I couldn't help but laugh at myself..

I would love to trade. I have been looking for an aluminum plant.

Thanks for offering,

Tracey"

I think mine looks like that, but I'm too tired to go yank a leaf. I'll look at it tomorrow. G'night guys and gals :).

I can only find the subspecies as a type of Heartleaf. Interesting to see the PF with the Velvet Leaf common name.

P. verrucosum does have velvet (fuzz) on it.

Hey Now!! I like you aroid nuts alot.. You and 3jsmom reply to everything I post.. and I love you both for it... and Dave, well he is ALWAYS there when I need an ID, and in this case to help bail me out!!

3jsmom, We have taken crusies to Cozumel Mexico and the like.. The last time we were there we drove dune buggies through the Mayan Jungle for miles and miles and miles.... It was beautiful. My hubby thought we would never make it through customs because I wanted to dig up all the plants (mostly aroids) and bring them home.. but I just couldn't sneak them on the ship and keep them happy until we got back to the states, and through customs... without being imprisoned. : )

alright this time I mean it, I'm getting off here, I've been thinking it was thursday all day cause I didn't get any sleep last night!

Philodendron verrucosum does climb; it has adventitious roots at every node which quickly cling onto objects in it's path.

Dave, thank you for the information. Your photos is so pretty, not only the beautiful Philo, but the brom next to it also has a very pretty leaf pattern. For some reason, philos and anthuriums just get to me somehow so I have them in for the winter :).

Oh, seeing them in their natural habitat would be so amazing. I wouldn't dig anything up, it just wouldn't feel right to me, but maybe a snip here and there :).

Trina, it's Saturday, lol.
