Necrotic tissue is dead tissue. Eeeew, huh?
Natural Home and Garden Remedys Part 2
LOL, flowers. If it helped wrinkles, I'd be happy to wrap myself up like a mummy in it.
Necrotic tissue is dead tissue, like when people get very badly frostbitten and their toes turn black. The lack of circulation caused by the extreme cold causes the surrounding tissue to die. That's why it's so important for diabetics to take particular care of their feet and avoid activities that impair circulation, such as smoking.
KyWoods, I'm with you that is just disgusting lol. Hey MK if that stuff took out wrinkles I would buy it by the case and drink some while I was rubbing the rest on my face lol.
back in the 70's my mom had a vein stripped in each of her legs, she had varicose veins. she developed an ulcer on one of her legs, it left a nasty nasty scar.
You'd have to fight the rest of us in line for it, LOL.
Smiley, my mom had them around her ankles and had them bleached, it took most of the color out and she could wear shoes without socks again. Some people just get the lucky part of it.
Thank Heaven for the advent of Laser ablation....vein stripping is like a form of medieval torture.
We had an old doctor in Caldwell Parish after he retired that would draw blood from a patient, remove the platelets and through some time of process make a cream and treat sores on the patiet he had drawn the blood from. These were sores that would not respond to other types of treatment. The results were almost miraculous. One guy had a sore for over thirty years on his leg that was the size of the palm of your hand. Nothing had ever helped it. It six months of treatment it was well. The only thing you had to draw blood each week and re make the cream as it wouldn't keep. The FDA shut him down. What a shame.
Just browsing and saw some familiar names! Hi all.
Ok, how do they use honey for varicose veins?? I have a few spider veins coming in my ankles I need to get rid of!!
Jim you are putting us on!
Hi ya Cathy! Long time no see!
Hi back! :-) Haven't been on as much for awhile. Everything ok with you?? How were your holidays?
everything is good, holidays were nice, how about you?
All is great on this end! I'm sure ready for spring though. It's been bitter cold here and snow is just now starting to melt after being on the ground since before Christmas
we've had NO snow...winter is useless to me unless I have snow to play in! What's the point of the cold if not for snow? grrrr
We had an inch of sleet, then 5 inches of snow on top of that, then another 6, and another 4 to top it off! Lows were below zero alot, and highs in the teens. We never broke the 30's until this past Monday. The last snowstorm was almost a blizzard so there are big drifts all over. The last 3 days have melted most of the roads, but there are still huge piles of snow all over. It was a pretty white Christmas, but I could do without the bitter temperatures. Can't remember the last time it got this cold for that long.
I also moved this past spring, and the plants I was trying to keep were planted in pots. I'm wondering how many will survive. Oh well, it'll be a good justification to get more plants this spring!! :-)
you kept the pots outside? I left two shrubs outside in pots, they looked ok the last time I checked on them. I brought 3 inside.
the sun came out for about 10 minutes today, now it's cloudy again.
Hi Cat good to see you.
Hi back! All ok with you jjsgramma?? I will try to pop in more often. In the meantime, I was serious about the spider veins. If anyone knows of any natural remedies, please share. I want rid of them!!
Heading home now. Have a good weekend everyone
Wow, Jim, that's a shame about the demise of that old doc's practice...hopefully someone has a record of his method and will revive it. There's some smart folks from Louisiana...(I was born in N'awlins).
Hi Cathy....good to hear from ya....Spring will be too much fun cuz you can try new plants....grin. Sorry your weather has been so miserable. We had 11 straight days of well below freezing weather here....last time that happened was in the 1940's....go figure.
Hi KYWoods.....do ya ever visit N'awlins, or was that the jumping off point?
Follow this link to a ton of info on natural remedies for spider veins.

Hi all. Cat it is good to hear from you. It was varicose ulcers, not veins, they use the honey on.
I've only been back home a few times. The last time was over 25 years ago. I don't know if I could handle seeing it post-Katrina.
To ward off borens ,prune canes below the infested stems and branches, then use Elmer's Glue to seal the pruned ends to guard against insects and excessive moisture loss.
Use clothes pins as clamps to hold the stems of thorny roses to avoid pricking your fingers when cutting flowers.
Give your rosebushes the potassium they love by watering the plants with Gatorade, which contains 1 percent potassium.
Stimulate everblooming roses to flower throughout the summer by saturating the roots of each bush immediately after the first blooming with a solution of two tablespoons Brewer's Yeast dissolved in one gallon water..
We use clothes pins to close potato chip bags and the like. Cheaper than those fancy bag clips they sell.
At work we use paper clips :)
Especially when ya can get 50 wooden clothes pins for a buck at the Dollar store....
yeah. DD used to decorate them for us..
Mine too...with googley eyes and clothes and hats....found lots of little bits in the cabinets and freezer....grin
I don't know if you'll be able to see this or not, there's some of those clothespins on my 'smiley shelf' above my sink. Stuck magnets on the back.
That shelf is part of an old metal cabinet that was there when we moved in. Took the cheesy plastic sliding doors off, I wouldn't let DH take the cabinet down, I liked the shelf.
That is so neat. I want to put a metal backsplash up between counter and cabinets...seems like it would be very useful. I also want to paint the pantry door with chalkboard paint...perpetual grocery list/ appointment reminder place...get rid of the dozen post-it notes on the fridge.
The chalkboard paint is a lot better than it used to be. We made a 'hangout' room in the basement for the kids and did one section in chalkboard paint.
They don't use it as much as they used to, but they still love the chalkboard.
I just think it would be neater and also give GS Aidan a place to scribble/draw while here.
Do it!! They are a lot of fun!
By George i think I will...GRIN
I did my cellar door in chalkboard paint when the kids were about 3 & 5, it's in the kitchen & they would scribble on the door while I cooked dinner. then my sitter gave spanish lessons on the door while babysitting, now we do fractions to figure out recipes. They also write welcome messages to friends & family on it. Got the spray paint at wallyworld, took the door off myself (got tired of waiting for my sweet husband) carried it to the cellar and painted it. he put it back up for me. *grin*
Cool. That is exactly my plan. Thanks....one huge chalk board coming up....if it stops raining...grin
my door is cheap hollowcore, so it was just an improvement lol
also Moon, I keep a tupperware container of chalk and erasers right on the floor near the door. I was going to put a trim piece across the bottomto hold the stuff, dh said it would have to be glued on and would probably just fall off.
Plus all that icky chalk dust would be in the tray. We have a bucket too.
I have been trying to deal with sinusitis and a Korean co-worker made me this tea that helped. She says it is a restorative and to be drunk whenever you feel like you are coming down with something. It tastes good too. ^_^
Pear tea
3 pears
2 slices ginger, about a ½ inch, total
8 cups water
Korean rock sugar (may be found in Asian grocery stores)
Cinnamon sticks
Cut each pear into chunks and boil in a pot with ginger and water for one hour. Add some cinnamon sticks and the sugar to the pot and boil to melt the sugar; pour into cup and drink through a cinnamon stick (we didn't drink it thru the C stick)
JuneyBug that tea sounds good, I used to give patients ginger tea. Good stuff!
Of course I had to use ginger ale, hospitals don't carry fresh ginger. Gotta work with what ya got.
Chaulk board paint sounds fun! Do you just spray a wall or door and its ready for chalk? Juney tea sounds good, glad it helped. Nice Smiley shelf, you've got those clothes pins hid good I couldn't see them Smiley lol. Moon you will have to send pics after chalk wall is done and grandkids are drawing on it will be so cute. Hi cat, Ky good to see ya! Lynnie are you eating agin? Jim hope you and Jo are over colds and back to the grind.
