OK how long am I suppose to keep that banana peel on a wart?
Don't say until it rots either!!
Duct tape didn't work, but I have heard of people it did work for.
Natural Home and Garden Remedys Part 2
I do not know about the banana, but have read that aspirin placed on a wart will remove it. Guess there must be some truth to it as the active ingredient in some OTC wart removers is ASA, same ingredient as aspirin
I've never had a tomato juice bath, but then I've never been sprayed by a skunk....
The bath is ever so much nicer than the skunk...grin
vinegar works much better, my dogs were getting sprayed frequently here. Pweeeeeu. And Jim just eat some ramps if you want her to sleep in the guestroom :-)
ramps?
Man Ya beat me to it, Lynn was gonna ask the same thing...grin
I had a weird wart that wouldn't go away. Tried the duct tape, didn't work. What did work was putting a piece of cotton ball on it, soaked in apple cider vinegar, with a bandaid over it. Changed daily. Kills the root.
ramps my ladies are a type of wild onion looking thing that grows high in the mountains here and is a favorite especially for avid hunters. Is very good to clear the arteries and is usually chopped and served with scrambled eggs and fried potatoes. But the smell is unreal and works through the pours of your skin. Kids use to eat them when I was in school to get to go home as the smell was overpowering enough to run the whole class to another classroom lol
I think vinegar is a miracle drug Smiley...can be used for so many things.
I knew I had heard the word before Flowers, just couldn't call up a picture in my mind. As soon as you said wild onion, I remembered my Great Aunt fussing about the goats eating ramps...lol Anything that smells that bad has got to be dangerous...grin
Trina this ones for you: Cut a three-inch wide strip from a paper towel, dampenit and lay it on top of a strip of saran wrap. Place the seeds on top of the paper towel at intervals recommended on the seed packet.. Cover with another strip of damp towel, then roll up the paper and plastic together, place in a ziploc bag and store in a warm place. When the seeds begin to sprout, remove the ziploc bag ,unroll the wrap and plant the strip of paper towels in a well-tilled garden bed. Cover with a fine layer of soil and water thoroughly. The paper towel acts as a mulch to inhibit dehydration and soon dissolves, ensuring a perfectly spaced row of seedlings.
Fill a saltshaker with powdered non fat dry milk and sprinkle over seeds planted in starter cups. Cover the powdered milk with a light coat of seed starting mix. the milk gives the plants extra calcium.
I removed a wart from a girl on my school bus. I rubbed it and told it to go away. Told her to forget it and in a few days when she looked at it, it would be gone. Worked, about a month later she came to me to show that it twernt there. Sweet success.
My DH sold his to his gramma. she rubbed it with a penny and it went away....So his story goes.
Smiley trying the apple cider vinegar, but it burns. Is it suppose to?
yes, but it's a good burn. it's killing the root. then the root will turn black & the whole thing will die.
OK thanks,
Put it on last night before bed felt like someone slapped a sunburn.
ouchie
That is a good thing JJ. Means it is actively soaking up the vinegar.
Edgar Cayce's home remedies involved the use of apple cider vinegar, if I recall right. It's been a while since I read any of the books on his readings.
Sounds worse than it is, about the root getting black. More of like a black dot.
I use to use alum on my head. Shrunk up my bald spot so I'd have enough hair to cover it.
thought that was your blush spot Jim.
Does that mean you have a shrunken head Jim...grin
You girls have shrunk my head many times in the past several months. Won't let me get away with anything.
Someone needs to advocate for Jo....grin Just helping helping to keep you on on the straight, but not so narrow.....grin
Good luck on that one Moon, I think he gets a kick out of messing with our heads lol.
Morning Flowers...I am sure he does....and we get a kick out of him....grin
Hey buddy, yes we do, wouldn't be the same without the wise ones input!
Are you socked in with fog or rain today?
Some medium fog and 49 degrees, actually pretty mild for this time of year, I'm likeing it a lot :[)
We are at 62 degrees right now...darn fog and clouds made us miss the Geminid meteor shower last couple nights...have missed the last three meteor showers due to overcast skies....rats.
I'll wave my wand and send some your way buddy, just go out tonight at midnight and you will see them. Don't forget to wear fuzzy slippers out there tho lol
I have a really ugly pair of bright pink ones that I keep by the door just for that...lol Just one little meteorite would be cool...grin
Sorry I've gotten slack about posting here but not enough time in the day it seems this time of year. Ok more knowledge is here!
To chill seeds before sowing, washclean, empty film canisters with soap and water, rinse well, place seeds inside along with enough moist sterile potting soil to fill the canister, and snap on the lid. Label and place in the refrigerator.
Accelerate the germination of seeds by mixing two tablespoons cold, strong brewed tea into each pound of seed, cover, and set in the refrigerator for five days. The tannic acid softens the seeds outer cover. Before sowing spread the seed on newspaper and let dry for a day or two.
film canisters? what are those? ;)
What can I say, must be an old book lol
you can substitute pill bottles for film canisters.
How quickly we forget...lol
For making seed tapes: someone wrote an article or maybe it was in a thread....
Unroll toilet paper down the length of your longest counter or table. Place seeds (the proper planting distance apart) down the center of the paper. Fold in half, mist until damp, then let dry and roll up tightly and put in a zip lock baggie in the fridge or other cold place until spring. To plant, till up the soil and unroll your seed "tape", bury to the correct depth for that kind of seed and watch it grow. very handy to make this with those tiny, fine seeds since you can do this at counter top height and with no fear of them blowing away before you get a chance to sprinkle dirt over them. I used this method for alyssum and pinks last year and they were perfectly spaced and sooo easy & quick to do at that busy time of year!
Cool idea Juneybug
I saw that one to Juney, and you can plant paper and all in ground since it makes for good mulch for them too.
Yeah, it is the easiest thing in the world to make seed tapes that way, and then you just unroll and cover, and you are all perfectly spaced and ready to grow!
