Offical Muffler Sulking Section (and other Various Chatter)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I choose to sulk.

I experienced 1 degree weather for the first time day before yesterday.

I am sulking BIG TIME

oh... purple/pink?

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

I LOVE THIS THREAD.. And I am sulking.. for socks, muffler, cupcakes, flan...

I'll just sit here eating my cheese-nip and drink my root-beer

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

The rootbeer sounds good. I love rootbeer but I never buy it because then I'd drink it!

It's actually snowing here! It's hard to sulk because it's coating the leaves of the rhododendrons outside the window and looking very wintery and pretty indeed, but I'm doing my best!

Uh....greens?

I agree GG, Somehow scarves have that je ne sais quoi, while mufflers just have that quoi...I'm sulking for a scarf

I want a colourless divine scarf. I would prefer to have something black or gray as me and colour don't get along. (yes I was a teen in the 90s and never wore anything but black...I had even dyed my naturally blond hair black. Yes, those days are long gone, but still now, the most colour you'll ever see me wearing is a pair of blue jeans or one of DH's plaid shirts if I'm working outside and even that I would never wear in public) Patterns are ok....

Clarkson, KY

so...
ZeeZ:purple/pink
g_g: greens
batflower: shades of not...
greykyttyn: blues not citrusies
fran: blueypurpleyoooeyy
byndeweedBeth: green to match her eyes or purple or grey

d'I miss anyone?
hmmm....

I'm going to start sulking before this thread gets closed to new sulkers. I have been lurking but was too shy to sulk at first!

Lodi, United States

Sulkers should declare their preferences--muffled or otherwise--and look deeply into their auras and report.

This is important for successful dispensation to the greedy.

Clarkson, KY

If you are going to sulk, sulk boldly and with panache, verve and whatever other funny words I can come up with... what color are you sulking for so beautifully??

Clarkson, KY

Glad you referenced the aura thread...heh...I'm a greens and blues gal myself...

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

I am sulking.. didn't sulk last time so no socks & i'm freezing. 12 degrees here this morning.. I'm with ZZ.. I WILL SULK. i'm not picky. Anything will be divine. :)

It was so cold we had to break down & turn on the furnace. That's sucks. We made it till Jan last year with only the electric heaters. Someone mentioned (i think on FB) about a sock knitting loom.. i couldn't find one when i went to town today. Anyone know how well they work? I found my 40 cm dpn's. Thanks to a wonderful person who knows everything on here. :) as soon as I can get them I'm going to attempt to knit socks out of wool..... might take me months.. years.. but my friend says i can do it.

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

:( idk what my aura is... how do I figure that one out?

Lodi, United States

Then:
ZeeZ:purple/pink
g_g: greens
batflower: shades of not...(aka mispent near goth youth)
grow-girl: green and blues

Participant Sulkers should append their preferences and reply. Also whether muffled or stylishly entangled (let us be mindful of the sad fate of Isadora Duncan and only request a scarf if we can know ourselves to be careful around motor cars and spinning wheels).

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

I suspect it's pinkish, Kyttyn. Anyway, someone else has to read it for you; I don't think mirrors quite do it. They don't work for vampires, either.

And yes, I didn't sulk last time either, so now my feet are cold. That'll teach me!

Batflower, I bet you and colors actually do work; maybe you just don't know it yet. I was a teen wa-a-a-ay before you were and liked black at the time, but now I love deep rich colors. I'm a painter and you can tell from my pictures...

And the difference between muffled and stylishly and Isadora Duncan-ly entangled is? Wot, you are saying said dancer lacked style???

blacks, blues, greens, bright pinks... i love color, i wear mostly black.. patterns are fine.. sparkly is fine.. non sparkly is fine... whatever the most wonderful person chooses.. :)

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

someone told me a long time ago what color i was... but i don't remember what she said..

Clarkson, KY

Ooooh...there's a thread....somewhere....

Lodi, United States

Isadora was most stylish--but entangled. It was not a happy combination.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Grow, what color thread, and what weight? Sparklies or non? This is important!!

Catsy, I go for stylish - AND entangled if I must be.

here's what I got,

"Your aura is clear crystal. You are an "aura chameleon." Your aura will change colors to match those who you are connecting with. Therefore, at various times you may feel and think differently about life, love, and work, depending on who you are with."

so I'm still colourless

Who has the link to the Aura's???? as far as sulking rules, yes I think the best one to draw them up would be CMoxon... After all she will need the practice for the future...

Frans you chuckle now, but Truth be Known, this started because she was toturing us with pictures of the most lovely homespun yarn, she is just starting, and has her own spinning loom? (Is that what you call it?) I threatened to sulk her facebook page and called on a few friends for backup....

Grey Just what the heck is " I found my 40 cm dpn's." did you loose them? are they needed? are they farm tools or something to help with wool??

As for preferance, a muffler to me is something I can wrap many times around my neck that would go under my winter coat and could be used to cover my head if needed out on the trail. Something I would use daily just as I use my Divine Demi Socks.. I love himemade items, I treasure them forever.

I so wish my momma was still around, she could try and teach me, but prolly give up in frustration and send me to the garage with my dad to work on the truck or something, or out to work with the animals.... LOL those were the days...

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Wren I just saw your comment about it being 10 feet long... LOLOL oh my my.. that would wrap around me and Billy many times... LOLOL

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

40 cm dpn's...

40 centimeter long double pointed needles used for knitting of socks. :)

16 inches I think? around European 4mm.. which is a US3 i think.

I was taught to knit (again) by a friend from Holland. She taught me on longer needles which are very hard to find anymore. The dpn's you buy here in the states are like 10 inches long. Way too short. If you're going to poke your eye out while knitting might as well make it much easier with longer needles.

Clarkson, KY

colorFUL, batflower...

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

lolol

Ok for supper tonight is homemade Beef stew made from last nights roast.... Grilled chez sandwiches mayo instead of butter... for desert cookies taht we will bake after supper...

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Hmm, I think of scarves as something you can wrap around, too. Mayhap we have conflicting images! Some of my scarves go round my neck and then hang loose on either side and others go in nice slip-knots.

I was taught to knit by my Hungarian grandmother, so I do it the European way when my carpals are behaving. I have tried to teach DIL and GD to knit that way but it's been amazingly difficult to convey to them even with a book I bought. Reminds me we need to try again! DIL is due in May and may wish to produce wee items. In her spare time...

My aura is sensitive tan. Yuck!

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

MissJestr, why are we talking about dinner? But if we are, I made turkey noodle soup with the last of The Bird, and we ate it with what was left of a baguette DH made. Nice for a snowy night!

Lodi, United States

You are suppose to make a scarf at least the same length as the height of its wearer--which is surprising. But if you don't, the ends stick out unpleasantly after it wrapping around your neck.

Mufflers, at present ,seem to be smaller neck cozies that can be quite intricate and may have buttons. They are most similar to cowls and neck warmers.

Muffler like patterns:

substance for sulking... and warm food for a cold night.. It may snow here in the next few days....

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I have been checking my small stock of yarn. I do have a lovely purple and I started working on one with a mulit color greens and brown yarn. Can not promise anything but started one-the old shoulder is cousing problems .Will let y'all know if I finish one anyone can fight over who gets it. LOL

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Catsy, that was my notion, too - the muffler vs. scarf delineation. I'll have to check the lengths of the scarves in my wardrobe; I'm sure some of them aren't that long, but others probably are. Width enters into it too, of course. Easier to twine a thin scarf - and become entangled, to boot.

Dartmouth, NS(Zone 6a)

I also made stew for supper, with some left over lamb, we ate it with home made spelt bread a butternut squash muffins, that the kids helped bake for desert.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

What pattern are you using, Wren? I started a scarf when we were doing the Port Elizabethan Knitting School for Young and Old Wenches but I had no idea what I was doing...

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

ok let me rethink my direction here...
I liked the picture that I got, I googled it, but it did not look long enough. Then I found the pattern that I posted from Wren's link and here is the picture that I found with it.
That is why I asked if it could be made with one color... Then she tells me it 10 feet long.... OH OH OHHHH

took the test.. top colors are blue (9) & yellow (7). :)

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

Batflower, I wish I could have come for dinner - although I still have some leftover lamb and lentil stew that I made from lamb neck and French lentils. We butchered and packaged a lamb a couple of weeks ago and ended up with some odd cuts that you can't find in supermarkets. I was tickled to discover not one but two recipes for lamb neck (collier du mouton) in one of my French cookbooks. Those country folk are inventive!

And we had pumpkin pizzelles, too, that GD and I made.

MissJestr, that looks like a luvverly scarf!

Joplin, MO(Zone 6b)

We had eggs in a hole, egg nog & fried toast with homemade gravy. :) it was warm, cheep & good.

I read all the pages on colors.. i say stick with shades of blue unless the person doing this sees a color & says.. THAT's Grey's color! Then choose what you wish. :) ya i know.. i change my mind a lot.. i don't really care much other than i don't want orange or yellow. I'm not a citrusy colored person for sure.

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

So, who of us will be making scarves for the sulkers? I finished the second dog sweater today so I have time to make at least one scarf. :) I usually go with whatever color the wearer chooses and make up patterns as I go. I use only natural fibers...silk blends, wools, cotton, etc. I only knit, I had to give up crocheting due to a shoulder injury.

Lodi, United States

I am beginning to see an empirical connection between crocheting and shoulder injuries.

Which is why, aesthetics aside, I knit.
