Group Seed Swap Part #3

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1054921/

THIS SWAP IS CLOSED!!!

The end of the year is fast approaching and I hope all participants are preparing for this MG group seed swap. For those in the swap, please follow the swap participation requests that I have listed below to ensure that this is a wonderful experience for everyone!

This is what I would like from everyone in the swap. Please send: (UPDATED on December 1st)

1) A 8.5 x 11 inch bubble envelope. This bubble envie will be used to send the swap seeds back to you.
2) All the LABELED packets of seeds that YOU are sharing with others. Seed packets should each contain 3-5 (or more) seeds. Each packet needs to be labeled with the: A) Cultivar of the MG (if known), B) Species of MG seeds, C) Your DG name, and D) Season and Year seeds were collected.
3) YOUR return address label (printed please!) This can be a label typed up on printer paper that I can tape (using packaging tape) to the front of your bubble envie.
4) A check (or cash) for return postage and Delivery Confirmation (in the amount of $5.00 which should cover it all) I haven't figured out yet how to handle the postage cost for folks outside of the USA. I will privately discuss this in a dmail with those individuals as they contact me.

PLEASE NOTE: I would like to request that EVERYONE (except those outside of the USA) participating in this swap, send their seeds/bubble envie to me by Delivery Confirmation. (It's only $.80 and well worth it to make sure that I get your envie and seeds!) Dmail me for my mailing address when you are ready to send your seeds to me. I can not be responsible for any seeds that I don't receive.

I need everyone's seeds received by January 15th, 2010.

You can send them any time AFTER Dec. 1st, but Jan. 15th is the cut-off date. Maximum of 18 packets of seeds per cultivar so that each participant gets one of your seed packets. I am hoping everyone participating will have enough seeds to share so that each person in the swap gets a packet (per cultivar) from you.

If you have other seeds (not MG) to share but maybe not enough to share with everyone, please list your seeds and they will be given to the first folks to request them. The person sending them will have to either mark them for that person or drop a note in their bubble envie as to who gets what seeds. I leave it up to the sendee to keep track of who gets your seeds.

Any questions, please post in this thread.

I am going to keep the names of the participants in this first post:

1) beckygardener - A variety of different seed packets of I. nils and some other goodies that will be a surprise! ;-)

THANK YOU!

I will add a note next to each participant's name in the list above when I receive their bubble envie and seeds. So when you send them to me, keep an eye on this list to check to see that I have indeed received your seeds within a week after you mail them out to me. :-)

This thread will be used for further discussions and information concerning this swap. :-)

So ... start getting your seeds collected, bagged, and tagged! I need to receive everyone's seeds by the middle of January. :-)

duly noted.. however, mine are not going to be printed as they are marked on the baggies with perm marker.. sorry.

Cumberland Mtns, TN(Zone 6b)

they grow just as well if you hand write the label ;)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Not a problem. Just make sure that they have your DG screen name (and other pertinent info as listed above) on the baggies. That way if anyone has any questions about seeds or vines or blooms, they know who to direct their questions to. :-)

Folks - Feel free to dmail me for my mailing address when you are ready to send your seeds and bubble envelope to me. :-) Some of you already have my address, but many are newbies here on this forum. :-)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

i'm going to work on my seeds later this week. It's going to be a mixed batch because I had harvested them and my daughter knocked the bowls over and they all got mixed in when she picked them up. Bless her 7 year old heart. I do have one seperate batch that I made already.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Sounds good! Be sure to send it Delivery Confirmation to make sure that I get it. So far, so good on receiving all that have already been sent to me. :-)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I received Diana's envie today which contained Gypsy Bride Hige/Feathered I. purpurea seeds for everyone to enjoy! Thanks Diana!

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

I don`t know if this is true for everyone else but I have to either use a small box or stuff my envelope with a small amount of packing to make it 3/4 inch thickness or they will not let me have the DC at the post office. They told me if I prepare a label online and I send a package thinner than 3/4 in thickness with DC that it will arrive postage due. So, I thought people should get a heads up on that one. Karen

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I mailed mine out today....will have pics of what I sent after the trade if anyone wants to see them.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

got mine ready but in the middle of a snow storm, could get up to 12" of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! havent seen that much snow here in like 10 years or so ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! soon as i can get them to the PO they will be on their way to you ok? i hope im not late yet lol thxs becky so much for doing this !!!!!!!!!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh dear, that is alot of snow!!!!
Ronnie, I love to look at your pictures.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Just a new update:

I received seeds from Ronnie (luvgrtdanes) today as well as some additional seeds from Doug (Cibarius). Check the first post to see what they sent!

Ronnie not only packed up each cultivar in seperate small envies, but also packed up all the different cultivars she sent into zip bags for each participant! Thanks for doing that Ronnie! Looks like we are going to have a truly great selection of seeds from this swap!

There is less than a month now to get your seeds sent out to me! Hopefully, those who I haven't received yet are working on theirs now or will be after the holidays! :-)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I received seeds from Mortez today. See above for what she sent. But she also sent in some extras where there is not enough for everyone, so it's first come, first serve. Who wants one or both?

6 packs of Chocolate Silk
10 packs white with purple stripes

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

becky i dmailed u lol

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

WantabeGardener wants one of the chocolate mg seed packets.

Anyone else want to put in their request for either or both of those extras?

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

How many seeds in each pack? Is there enough to count them and re divide them into 18 packs? (only a suggestion)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Karen - I had already thought of that. But unfortunately, there are only 5 seeds per packet, so that mean 30 seeds total. You divide 30 by 18 participants and that is less than 2 seeds per person. It wouldn't work to divide the Chocolates or even the other one. That's why I posted to see who wants a packet of them. Many of us who have been growing MGs for awhile may have already grown Chocolate. I grew it my first year. Unfortunately, that is before I knew how to hand-pollinate them to get lots of seeds. But I think I still have a packet of 3-4 seeds left from my own grow-out, so I don't need any seeds. There are now 5 packets left of Chocolate and 10 of the other.

So y'all don't be shy! If you want some ... speak up!!! :-)

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I'd love some of the Chocolate.

Deb

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

You got it, Deb! That leaves 4 packs left. Who else?

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I would love to try it if they are still available. I'm going to send my seeds out on Monday or Tuesday.

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

The spontaneous choosing makes it all that much more exiting. I hope everyone gets blessed with the best year ever. :)

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

6 packs of Chocolate Silk
10 packs white with purple stripes

would like both. if not will take the chocolate

hope you all had a great holiday. me spent the day in the hospital and had day surgery today and back in my home tonight. i havent done all my seeds yet but will get them ouyt in a few days i hope.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Marie, Hope your surgery went well today and that
you're feeling ok.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

heal up fast, marie

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

it looks like its gonnna be slow going for awhile. could barely walk this morning. soaked in tub like doc said too as stitches were water proof. wish i could of stayed there all day. instant pain relief.

thanks all

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Marie, Then if I were you, I would get back in the tub and stay there as long as I wanted to.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Nicole - Will add some chocolate MG seeds to yours as well. :-)

Marie - Chocolate and the striped white/purple for you.

That leaves 2 left of Chocolate and 9 left of the white/purple.

If I overlooked anyone asking for them, please dmail me or post here again.

Marie - Sorry to hear about your surgery. Hope you recover ASAP!

I've made up gallon ziploc bags with each participants names on them and have been dividing out seed packets as they arrive. On January 15th or as soon as all participants get yours to me, I will be getting them completed to mail back out to everyone. :-) There is still about 20 days left before the 15th.
