we were supposed to get 5" and we got maybe 3" not enough to shovel - driveway is pretty bare - side roads were in tough condition earlier - going to be interesting here this winter - there was an override vote to keep the senior citizens facility and library open - at the expense of the highway department. i am hoping the lady that accosted me at the town dump on this issue slides into several fields this winter, do not want any damage or injuries just cause her some inconvience.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 57
37°, windchill 30°
- Not one snowflake here, went down to 34° and then temps started rising again.
Snow is staying stuck. I wanted to ask the furnace if it knew it was cold? Hope that it melts tomorrow, but will have to deal tonight as we go to a 'lessons & carols' service.
Calling for snow wed and thurs. Need to find the sandbags for the little truck.
Nobody put the sandbags in our big pickup yet, so I didn't bother to clean the snow & ice off it---wouldn't get up our driveway, even in 4 wheel drive---DH's BIL says it wouldn't pull a whore out of church---is that too xrated for the site? No snow on our road, the salt got rid of it, but the grass & trees are mostly covered.
I don't know Robin, but it nearly made me spit coffee on the monitor LOL
Robindog, love the line.....I must use it ASAP. Patti
Yummy!! I have some in the frig but they are store bought. Those look lovely!!
Thanks Pixie. I think brocc is my second favorite veggie to grow, asparagus being my first.
We have a ton of cabbage. Must do something quick. Not sure what. I need a root cellar. Patti
Cole slaw!
Patti, have you ever made sauerkraut? I made it two years in a row and will probably make some again this year. It is so easy and so good. I think I have the recipe link if you want it. After it is finished I canned it and had kraut all winter. My husband Don loves it with of course kielbasa and such things.
Bill - Hank was in the virtual waiting room for two and a half hours and I was hitting the redial and risking carpel tunnel issues for over 2 hours while the puppies took a rare rainy day nap......I got in finally and we got tickets for one game. We'll scalp for another and probably take in one at the Twins' complex. It's a pain these days. They assign you the seats and if you don't want the section, you're dead meat. That's what happened to Hank this time. He got the Orioles game, but didn't want the section we were assigned.
This morning was pretty CHILLY on our walk (42 and VERY windy), but it was refreshing. The day turned out to be beautiful, and now it is starting to warm up and the humidity is increasing. Windows are still wide open though. This morning was our first sighting of our fine feathered friend, "Sheila Shrike" down at the river. She's a cute little migratory bird who hangs around with Regis the Kingfisher all winter. Sheila may be cute, but she is also a predator! She looks a bit like a black capped chickadee, but not so meek and mild.
I miss seeing the first snow of the season in New England.......we may see some in Colorado though.....we're going to near zero temps there this week. Glad I brought my winter jacket down!
Happy Snowman fun, y'all!
Louise
Nice broccoli. Afriend had theirs eaten by a woodchuck last summer, but they got him in the end.
Iris, I am a firm believer in electric fences. I lost 52 brocc plants 5 years ago and that was the last time I had a problem with chuckies. I love my electric fence!

28 high of 45 expected
susandonb1141, thanks, I love sauerkraut. I am putting that bug into DH's ear today! He is not such a fan, but teaches ESL to a Lithorian who has his families recipe and will teach us how. All I want for Christmas is a huge pot of Sauerkraut to put up. Patti
37°, cloudy
Went down to 28 last night, moved the outside bonsai to a protected area.
34 and trying to flurry.
still cold, in the 30s here. talking about rain for the weekend. Have started luging packages to the post office. Dratted scattered family.
That's why I order and send on line.
Me too!
I have the companies send stuff, but not books & what I get locally.
Yeah, Bill....we could have called her, but it was so late in the game (no pun intended) by the time we found out the date for the ticket lottery, that we thought better of calling her at that late date! We got so busy with our puppy training, everything else just got put aside. You are correct though, we could probably still call her for other games.
Warmer here today; had to turn the a/c back on.
Wish I could say warmer, Louise! It was 37 for a high here, & I felt cold walking for the first time this fall/winter--of course I forgot my hat & gloves!
33 now going up to 41.. supposed to get freezing rain tonight into tomorrow.... sigh
27 degrees here! Still dark so I don't know about clouds yet.
32 and sunny. Wintry mix tonight.
"We are expecting 10" of snow BEFORE it turns to sleet and freezing rain." Weathermans words, not mine.
Mine "YUK!!"
28 and very cloudy.
Eek! Good luck.
Thanks, about to go stock up the fireplace and box with wood, get the candles out, ect...
Everytime we get more than 6" then changes over to freezing rain and brings wind with it........it's NEVER good!! LOL
We've got a ENE wind at 20-30 to start with on Wed. morning and mid day the wind will shift to WNW still at 20-30mph. I've have a feeling our power (CMP) utility workers will be very busy and im sure our rates will need to increase again. ^_^
This storm whalloped Flaggstaff AZ., Navada, even dropped some in California!
20 here this morning - we are supposed to get hit with snow and then freezing rain as well although they were hesitant to provide any snow accumulation last night - almost a year to the day from last years storm.
Oh my!!!
34 high of 43 sun is out
