Today's Weather in Your Garden - 57

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes we got all the firewood in a few weeks ago. I found a small bag of tulips I forgot to plant, got them planted and my fingers weren't numb, so nice!! ^_^

(Zone 5b)

you guys were much more productive than I was, I wandered around with a pair of cheap clippers (they were sticking open or shut with each cut) until a friend called for lunch and out I ran.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Fantastic photo WC!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I decorated the house!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

But wasn't it nice to go out to lunch and not freeze your butt off getting to the restaurant?

(Zone 5b)

yes, and I never turn down lunch with a friend :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Especially if they're paying!

(Zone 5b)

lol

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Got up to 55 here today. Lovely. I'm still dividing and planting irises. I think it's over, though.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

38 and clear.

Checked and reset my min/max thermometer outside before. Coldest temp it recorded last winter was 0. The max is always higher than actual because it's near reflective gravel near the veggie boxes. It read 110.

(Zone 5b)

I have the same problem with my thermometer, it's reading 57 but it's probably 47.
There are frozen worms in my driveway...do the birds not like frozen food?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Poor worms got fooled by Mother Nature--I feed my fish frozen worms...
The weatherman said it was 69 degrees here yesterday!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i noticed some bulbs popping up through the soil yesterday.

was 36 this morning and sunny

(Zone 5b)

oh now I would NOT be happy to see bulbs coming up!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

55 clear and sunny. I noticed bulb sprouts too.

Thomaston, CT

The bulbs are going to be sorry! Today is sunny, should get to 50,, & hopefully Harper & I will walk on the dam---photos later!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Sunny and still a little warmer than it averages for the date at 48 degrees. Very light wind and back to reality over the weekend and much of next week.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Tulips for Christmas! This must be the wrong planet...

47, sunny, cirrus clouds up there today.

South Hamilton, MA

50s & bright. Rain/snow predicted for Sat. night. I doubt if the snow really sticks to the ground very long.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yep I have some bulbs poking up too.
Cloudy and 51

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

They won't flower unless the crazy weather lasts. Doubt it.

(Zone 5b)

55 and sunny, the yard needs weeding lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I see from my window that my New Dawn rose is in bloom.

South Hamilton, MA

50s but had to do errands this afternoon & still more leaves to rake. I think the trees put out extras this yr.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

another nice day - finished cleaning up around the rock table and expanded a few garden beds that i was not going to do until spring.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I had fresh cut roses on my table for Thanksgiving - they were just buds but still pretty and from my garden in November!

Hi Lynn! Welcome!!

It rained hard most of the day, and we really needed it. I think it will rain through the night tonight and clear up in the morning. We have to do our ridiculous online and on the phone hours-long effort to get Red Sox Spring Training tickets tomorrow morning. Usually we are both on separate computers trying to get through, and I am also hitting the redial button for hours until we get our tickets. It should be interesting to see how it will work with two puppies wanting their piece of the action at the same time. Then we have neighbors coming over to watch the Florida/Alabama game in the afternoon with supper during halftime. They are Gators and Hank likes Alabama.....always an interesting gathering with lots of yelling and screaming. This will be good to expose the puppies to, since they need to see how sporting events can go...LOL...it's all part of our "expose them to all situations" program. Interestingly, I've learned not to comfort a dog the first time they hear thunder or they will think there is reason to fear and have problems with it all their lives. Yesterday we had a big bang of thunder; the puppies looked a bit concerned at first, looked at each of us to see how we reacted; we didn't react, just acted like it was nothing, so they relaxed and went on playing. I guess the dog whisperer is right!!

(Zone 5b)

thanks DonnieBrook! Good luck getting your tix tomorrow, it sounds like fun.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Lynn! The fun comes when we get to go to the games. I love Spring Training....the scale and the spring weather and the palm trees swaying in the outfield. It's a great scene. I wish the Sox weren't leaving City of Palms park. It's a shame.

Thomaston, CT

Where are they going, Louise? You did the right thing about the thunder----my 2 though already had bad reactions when we adopted them---it was in the 50's---Harper & I had a nice walk behind the dam---here is Harper & Suey on top of the dam.....

Marilyn - the Sox are just moving across town to a fancy new (expensive) facility. We are so close to the current park that it takes us no time to get there and get home, and we really like this park, so we're not happy. Plus, the games will probably be pretty pricey once they move. ugh.

(Zone 5b)

DonnieBrook I live in MA and we went to Baltimore to see a game. The whole weekend was probably less than a game night in Boston lol

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

You are so right, Lynn! We can no longer afford to go to Fenway now that we are retired. It's just ridiculous, but then it's even worse for the fans at some of the other new parks. You were smart to go to Baltimore! One other thing I like about Spring Training is the ability to see the new players. We saw Nomar's first game and I got some neat pictures of Big Papi and Manny and Yuk, etc. It's fun to watch the new ones and decide how you think they'll do. I've been going to Spring Training games here since I was 4. My Dad was a big baseball fan. We had the Pirates here for years when I was a little tyke of a fan.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Tell Bill about the high cost of the Sox!

(Zone 5b)

we had awesome seats, above the Orioles dugout...great weather, the Inner Harbor was fun....

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Now, Victor! Don't pick on Bill......he's on our side! well, not yours exactly! Go Mets!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I'm sure it was a nice weekend. I like Baltimore, and I can recall how wonderful it was to come down in March and leave New England behind for a couple of weeks each spring before we retired. Feels good to get out of snowy Mass, doesn't it?

(Zone 5b)

lol I like a little snow to play in, but only when I don't have to work. I don't like just cold or ice though. By March I'm over it, though *grin*
