Robin, love your elephant too. I'm not a collector of things, but these Christmas elephants might get me hooked.
what type of tree do you put up?
We are going to do the great furniture move today that is required to put my tiny living room into "Christmas Tree Configuration". I am going to put the tree up and put on the lights and some ornaments. My daughter will be home from college on Sunday so we will finish the tree then. Oh, any of you folks from MA who might want to watch, she will be playing in the hoop band on TV Saturday night at the UMass basketball game being held at the Boston Garden. I think it is on ESPN2 at 6. I watch in hopes of a glimpse. They won't be wearing the marching uniforms as in this picture from last month. They have black hoop band jackets. My boys are going to the game, but I have to work and so Brian, my DH, is recording the game on DVR for me. Sally is the cute trombonist!
Go UMass!
Martha
Cool Martha. My DD plays in the pep band for her high school basketball games(flute).
Lovely ornaments. It's nice to see the homemade ones!!
My niece was a trombonist also, for the Upper Valley Band in NH----go girls! Weeze, my stepdaughter takes a trip every year---I've gotten so many interesting things from her.
Go UMass! They won the game in the last 42 seconds!! You could just see my DH and DS in the background in a couple of shots. They are both six footers so their heads stuck up above the crowd in front of them!
Martha
oooooooo great trees and decorations. I particularly like the one that makes chocolate. Once of my uncles does cross-stitch and makes all sorts of cool little things. Those are great wha. I'm really liking the farolitos down here. Although most I've seen so far are electric, there are some traditional ones. http://gosw.about.com/od/artscraftsandshopping/a/luminarias.htm
thx all - and Robin i like that thai elephant!
Finally got the tree done last night . It's been sitting here with lights on for a week.
That's OK Jumper---this is a busy time! Thanks, Bill----I like it, too!
tree is in the garage--ha ha
Very nice.
Pretty, jumper2. That green and white ornament looks like an oldie.
I luv the brick fireplace with the tree. Perfect for Santa. Cowtown is quite devoid of brick. Rocks galore but brickshy.
new version of and oldie. Both DH and I like those. BTW the tree is our new artificial one. It looks and acts like a real one. DD got stuck a few times by it when she was helping.
Very cozy Christmas setting there, Lucy! Your tree looks great!
Oh, and don't you think the puppy crate in the shot above is a nice touch? LOL Well, they were our big Christmas present, after all!
Just found this great thread, and enjoyed reading about everyone's trees! And decorations! (blown away by the cross-stich ones!)
We have two trees this year: a "nighttime tree" and a "daytime tree." It just worked out this way: one looks better when it's lit up at nighttime, and the other somehow needs daylight to be happy.
Here's my daytime tree, in our sunroom (this photo was taken two days ago before the blizzard turned everything white outside.):
. . . and here's our nighttime tree, which is in a carpeted area because the glass ornaments only bounce when they fall off, not shatter! This is our first-ever artificial tree. The jury is still out, but I have to admit the ease of set up is pretty hard to resist.

I think puppy decor adds a nice touch to Christmas DonnieB. Great trees CCG!
beautiful trees!
Very nice, Louise and Emily!
i do not see a jets ornament?
It was intercepted.
Tree is in the house--star-light on top but no other lights or ornaments on as yet.
Nice, Victor! Let's see it with the lights on.
It does look like it hits just under the ceiling, Victor. A lovely tree. .
Here's a pic of my old ornaments I wanted to show Maria. They were my great grandmothers. My mother was born in 1908, and her mother was 42 when she was born, and mom never knew her grandmother, so her grandmother must have been deceased by around 1870. And her grandmother was also in her 40s when moms mother was born, so we're guessing the ornaments are from around 1846 to 1870.
.
How cool, Polly.
I think so. They are very precious to me, but still go on the tree every year.
We have a paper ornament given to my aunt on her first Christmas, an angel face pasted on a paper star & very by now tarnehed tinsel edging it. My dad hated it for some reason & would hang it on the back of the tree. It was for my aunt's first christmas, 1894.
I have some paper ones too, Lucy. They are so neat. We haven't been able to date them. How wonderful to know the exact date.
I always put the dates and names on the snowbabies I give Michelle and the kids. And the boxes have the names of the snowbabies on it, so hopefully they will always know when they got them.
Beautiful, Polly!
Thank you. We treasure them. I can find no dates or marks at all on them.
Emily and Victor - those are beautiful trees! Their fullness is more like what you usually have. This year's tree is "puppy necessity thin". LOL But it works for us for now! Emily - that artificial tree sure looks like a real fir! I'm impressed!
Polly - those ornaments are not only special, but beautiful as well. I love the old ornaments. Paper ones are also very pretty, Lucy!
LOL, Dahlia, re the puppy decor!! You are sooooooo kind and tactful! LOL
pretty tree Victor!!. love those ornaments Polly
