what type of tree do you put up?

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Ooooh, I love that elephant. Is he baked enamel?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

no it is painted metal - a heavy one like the elephant

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Bill, your tree is beautiful. What great ornaments. So you move 300 lb. rocks and crochet teeny ornaments. You're a well rounded guy!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

LOl. Very nice wha. Are those real apples?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice, Bill! Except the Sox stuff, of course. ^_^

South Hamilton, MA

Sox is great, afterall stockings (big sox) are supposedly 'hung by the chimney with care'. Do you have Red Sox stockings?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Here is our snowman tree.
You almost can't tell it is crooked.

I like theme trees.

Pretty Deb! Doesn't look crooked at all.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I love your homemade ornaments Bill.

Very cute Deb.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very nice!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

I like the birds. I have a few bird ornaments of my own.

South Hamilton, MA

We have some of the old fashioned birds with silk tails.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Lovely trees and some very unique decorations there!

Deb, do you have candles on your tree?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

No candles on the tree, I'm afraid of candles in general. I used to work with someone who did, but I never saw her tree. There are blue and white LED lights and s'more snowman lights.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

It must be the snowman lights I'm seeing that look like candles. I was hoping you didn't, LOL.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx all - and harper it is cross stitch not crochet - i will post a pic of a xmass train tomorrow that i made and will never forget - was hiking through the grand canyon years ago with a girl friend as i was waiting for to catch up some guy comes up the trail and see's me cross stitching and says - is that cross stitch? - could not believe he knew what is was. bowed my head, said yes and moved very far away:)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice stuff Bill & Deb.. Deb love the marshmallow guy!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Cross stitch/crochet, I'm still impressed! You were doing cross stitch while hiking in the Grand Canyon?!

South Hamilton, MA

I don't see why men can't do needlework--horrible culture thing against it. I was lousy at cross stitch & only knitted as a kid for Red Cross boxes during WWII. Have forgotton how. Your needlework creativity shows why you are so creative with rocks.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I've heard about cross-stitching Sox fans...

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

heehee

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

...not that there's anything wrong with that. ^_^

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yup - everything went in a big zip lock bag when you are backpacking for 3 weeks it is hard to carry a tv so there was a lot of time and the xmass train is pretty big with fancy stitching. i only did this for a about a year.

this is the train

Magnificent Bill! Craft Fairs around here would sell that for big bucks! ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. Actually, they are great, Bill! I have similar ornaments on my tree.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx celeste - when i was doing this my family thought i was into show tunes:)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hee hee he!! Too funny!

South Hamilton, MA

Wonderful Bill.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Those are great Bill. Must be you don't have small children or there would be no kisses left in the houses. But great stitching there!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Love them, BIll. Who needs kids in the house for the kisses to disappear? That's my weakness this time of year, we went thru 3 bags of them already and 2 bags of M & M's.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

It takes a lot of patience and attention to detail to do those! Very nice Bill. You don't need small children to make the kisses disappear (kicking dirt, whistling). I'm with you Jen!

"I don't see why men can't do needlework--horrible culture thing against it." I agree, Lucy. That's why I'm so impressed! As if the stone walls weren't super, now I'm extra proud to know you Bill.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I agree!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Wasn't there a really big footblall player that did cross stitch?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

VERY impressive, Bill!! I love every one of those ornaments you made....and the train and village are true heirloom creations! What a multi-dimensional guy you are! Does Cindy know how lucky she is? LOL Thanks for sharing those very cool decorations and your lovely tree! I must admit I did expect to see a few boulders under the tree though!

Can you believe that we haven't bought our tree yet????? Now my neighbor tells me that there's been a lot of news here about Christmas tree places selling out of trees this year. Greaaaaat! I think we'll go tomorrow, although we are supposed to get really heavy rain all day.

I hope you are all enjoying the holidays!! I haven't been on DG much since we've been to Colorado and I'm still not unpacked. I'll get there! The good news is that I found a puppy groomer who will come to the house and give the girls their first haircut on New Year's Eve morning.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yeah, Rosie Greer......he'd give Bill a big thumbs up!!

Thomaston, CT

Rosie Greer---he did needlepoint---I agree with the culture thing---there's nothing feminine about knitting woolen hats or Christmas villages---it's a wonderful skill---I'm impressed, Bill! And I have a black Thai elephant on my tree--gift from my stepdaughter. Debi---love the lights on your tree!

Maybe Bill can knit something for Truman??!!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, this year a perfect tree! Just lucked out, I guess. (Yes, it's real)
