MORE FOOD AND FUN WITH THE GYPSIES

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Amen to that, JJ. After DD moves, I'll be broke for buying new dinnerware, silverware (Mom~this stuff from the dollar store sucks!), and a new couch. sofa. davenport.

Dixie, sounds like you enjoyed and needed the nap.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh forgot to say Thanks Moon.
Just what the hips need more chocolate recipes!!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Oh you just wait Smilely gave all my stuff away three times, everytime one moved out lol

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I tried listing them on Craigslist.com before. And just listed the plates there again for the Indianapolis area. There are a lot of people who sell them on eBay for not much money. Too much to mess with along with the shipping and everything. And I can't sell the Hummels with chips. Just thought I would ask you girls if you would be interested in any of them.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

When she moves out on her own she will learn to love the dollar store!!

Sometimes I think my boys think this is the local walmart.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

DS only asked for the DVD's when he moved out, Flowers. So we kind of played Monopoly with them.

DD is stuck to the hip with 2 of her friends, they were talking about apartments today, but she's only 16, so I have time. I have a feeling she's the one that's gonna clean me out, but I could use a new set of dishes!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I'm getting a kick out of oldest daughter. When she was home, had to be designer everything. Few years and two kids later she is scouting GW and thrift shops, knew that one was coming lol

Jesup, GA

Yeah Flowers, there's not too much that I don't like as far as food goes. I have never liked peanut butter. That veggie plate Dave has up the thread looks pretty good! Appetites coming back......Now I'll start eating every thing that's not nailed down. JJ'S I am anticipating the big light show! Hey Smiley girl. How's it goin today?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

The Christmas blue plates aren't a set of plates. I used to use them at Christmas for cookies etc.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Just an example. Forgot to add it to the other post.

Thank you anyways, Venice. I don't collect either one. I'm kind of like JJ, only dust!

I have my grandma's "fine china", or so I thought. One night my mom had a plate held up to her chest - then proceeded to tell me the story that they got them when they went to a double-feature at the movies for 2 cents a piece. If it was a scary movie and someone dropped their plate, everyone would clap.

That's probably as close as I'll ever get to fine china.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

That's a pretty plate, Venice.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Well I hear the chainsaw running outside. DH must be home so I better see if I can find some supper and get the GS on homework.

Someday when I grow up I will plan my meals, until then its a good thing the defrost on the microwave works well.

Catch you all later

Jesup, GA

LOL It was funny what JJ's said about her dishes. The ones that hubby and I use every day I think I have gotten down to 3 that match. Grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Now Venice I lied, was thinking plates to eat out of. I do have a collection of plates of my youngest daughter in the china cabinet but have no room for more. That is so pretty!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

snowflake pattern, Dixie. I have that pattern too.

DH is cooking - better go scope it out (NOT his forte)

Catch ya later, gators!

Jesup, GA

Pretty plate V. Love the blue.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hurry back Smiley

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Do you remember the chicken soup bowls, the kind you take the lid off of? My Dad got me one probably in 1970 the year I got married and still have it. Wouldn't take a million for it.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Well, I got my "good" set of china when I was about 25 from the Army PX where they were really cheap. I ran out of everyday dishes so I have been using those. It is not my taste any more.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Pretty Venice, are those from the PX? looks like old editions

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Well, I have 9 different blue plates. I collected them when I was 25 or so. Don't use them.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

don't get rid of them Venice, family members may treasure them some day.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I know they have that old looking charm. They are about 40 years old now. Can't get that pattern any more except at the hard-to find site.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't think my daughter-in-law would like them. She is real picky about her tastes and she is not into old looking things.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

none of the young people are but will come around later I'm sure. I use to dispise antiques but love them now.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I guess I should have sold them and bought more everyday type of plates.

Jesup, GA

You can will them to me then V. if family doesnt want them. I love old things, antiques and such. Grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

no you did the right thing by keeping them Venice. Can't find the cool detail on plates and such as they made back when.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I have a large lamp in my bedroom that was husbands Aunts. It has a big gold raised rose on it and base is tear drop shaped in ivory, very pretty

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Your grand daughter might like them Carol. You might consider writing a note for her telling her how you found them and a bit about your life when you got them. It could begin a really nice correspondence for the two of you. You could start with one and see if she was interested in more.

Howdy all Y'all....

Jesup, GA

Flowers your right about that. When I was younger I really didn't care for antiques or any thing old. Now I love them. So go figure huh?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hey buddy moon, get some outside work done?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

yea Dixie, DH brought home a big claw foot sofa for our first home. I told him he better get that ugly thing out of there. I would love to have it now lol

Jesup, GA

I have a picture of my great grand mother that was handed down to me in its origional frame. That my great aunt gave me. Other stuff as well. But I tend to treasure that the most.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

I've got a big oval frame made out of what I'm sure is an expensive wood. The glass is out of it and need to get it restored. My Dads baby picture was in it and he had a gown on lol

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I don't have anything that has been handed down in the family except for my Grandma's bowl on the left in that photo and my Great Grandparents player piano.

Jesup, GA

I know what you mean. When my grand mother passed she had 2 of the old claw foot bath tubs. None of us wanted them. Could kick my self. You can too if ya want. Grin

Jesup, GA

Wow V. player piano! How cool is that!

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

wow do you know what those tubs are going for now Dixie? Let me get my foot going here lol
