Sorry!! I forgot the photo! Dah!
IT'S JUST THE GYSPY IN MY SOULFOOD
Not yet Venice. He says he will get it done before Christmas. I told him he had to have it done by Thanksgiving.
They are still using it on a jobsite, so I have to wait. I don't know why he won't just get on the roof and do it. Guess he's getting old, like me.lol
OK need to get busy and get these errands ran.
Have a nice day everyone and Hi Kassy when you show up.
That looks like a dracaena, Venice, a relative of the corn plant.
JJ, Can you put up lights at night? Surely they aren't using it after dark.
It applies big time Moon. Can't really complain though when its done I'm not in debt, he is the cleanest carpenter I have ever seen (never leaves a mess, even drops the plaster in buckets as he tears it off) and he does wonderful work.
But patience you do need so good think he's not married to Lynnie. She would be living with insulation walls for awhile in that bedroom...LOL
Gone this time really.
Edited to add: Venice its not in town and it uses a lot of gas so they don't want to drive it back just to put up lights.

Ya just gotta love their good points, JJ. Keeps us from strangling them over the others....grin Have a good day
Yes, that is the Corn Plant.
Good morning everybody! Aloha aku!
I've got a new phone line!
Carol's 1st plant looks like a Yucca. Can you show close-ups of the leaves?
JJ, I understand. That make sense.
Moon, I have looked up varieties and relatives of dracaena and that didn't help. They all have broader leaves or different color leaves.
I thought that one was related to the marginata, but ya know, I could be wrong....grin
A new phone line? Is that a second dedicated line Dave?
Moon, I think it looks more like a marginata -- Red-Margined Dracaena, Dragon Tree
Dracaena marginata. But nothing about it is red, at least yet.
It does not look like Dracaena marginata.
Hi Jean, my phone started having problems, kept disconnecting, would be dead regularly, had static, etc. The phone company came and switched the connection to an alternate line.
Now I can actually finish a post before the phone drops the connection!
Dave, while you are here, I have another question. Does touching the tips of those leaves, make them turn brown? Or is that an old wives tale?
Hi Carol, for the leaves to turn brown by touching them, you would have to injure the leaves.
As a kid, people always said -- don't touch the leaves, they will turn brown.
I brush by those leaves a few times a day. Will that hurt them?
Good deal, Dave. I know how frustrating it can be to have an entire post just disappear and have to re-boot everything. Might even help with speed now that you have a clear signal.
Dave, is it possible that is a Cordyline rather than yucca?
Venice, are the leaves really stiff or are they flexible?
That depends on how aggressively you brush up against your plants.
Leaf tip burn can happen from a lack of potassium. Do you feed the plant regularly.
Hey Jean, I was just thinking it might be a type of Cordyline australis.
Carol, those look like aphids. Dampen a paper towel with alcohol and gently wipe off as many as possible and then use the soap solution Smiley reccommended to get rid of the rest. You can dip a q-tip in alcohol to gently wipe the buds.
You can also get a bit of browning on leaf tips from change in watering and light/temperature/humidity change.
It looks like the one that is sold under the C indivisa name, but is really common C australis.
C. indivisa is supposed to have a thick trunk with red veined leaves.
Yup, but the pair I have growing were labelled C indivisa and when I started looking and comparing, I found they were C australis. A couple sites I went to even mentioned that they are often mis-labelled as C indivisa.
That looks like the Cordyline australis Carol
I can see how easy they would be to confuse with each other. Nurseries commonly get ID's mixed up.
Cordyline australis has a wide range of leaf shapes and cultivars.
Dave, so what is it????
How about give it a tentative Cordyline australis.
That plant is getting bigger. The lower leaves continue to droop. I need to move it so it does not get in my way or touch the other plants.
That is my vote too. I had thought that one had a previous ID of Dracaena, but think Cordyline australis is a closer more accurate ID
Don't the Cordyline australis leaves have some purple/red in them?
How is the weather over there now???
Hi again, thanks Moon for directing me to the new conversation.I'll get the hang of it soon.Think the time difference may be to blame LoL
Love the heavy and many pocketed purse comments.I used to carry packets of biscuits[cookies to you ladies I think]in mine when my 2 boys were small. Now I always seem to have whatever book i'm currently reading so bag still has to be on the large side.
Think what you call a purse,in England is a Hand Bag and what you call a wallet we call a purse.A wallet is just for money in paper form ,not coines :}
I also think plant is a cordyline and bugs on other plant most likely Aphids.
Joy
Cloudy with some sun today. Nice break from the week of storms!
Read this info for the cordyline Venice...
