I guess if you could shore up a mole run and build an access to it you could try it on moles. I usually just watch where they are running and shoot them with my 30-06. Even if you miss the mole the concussion kills them.
Here Kitty, kittly. Catch the mole Simba.
Did you hear about the "All American" tom cat? Made 40 yards in one night.
Natural Home and Garden Solutions
Hi Kassy, Simba looks happy now. Go back and read the first posts its about moles and let me know if it works. Adding one-half teaspoon Listerine per quart of water to a vase extends the life of cut flowers.
Lots of great uses everyone..going back to the top and re-reading..
Thanks Betty, I'm sure you have a few to add with your talent.
Two of the best cleaning products around are baking soda and vinegar. The baking soda is coarse enough to scrub away dirt and stains, and vinegar cuts grease and grime and is naturally disinfecting
My DIL just learned that one Jean..............LOL
Flowers, actually I don't know if they are moles or field mice. They have decide to take up residence in our garage.
We have that happen every fall, and we usually use traps. I prefer them to hard rock......LOL
I learned that one many moons ago when pregnant with my first child. The smell of just about every thing made him unhappy....grin
A shot of hair spray to clothes will take the static electricity out of them.
Big cat Kassy. Be hard to miss one that size.
A time out with one second on the clock would have won the game for LSU Saturday. Just a helpful hint in case Les Miles reads this thread.
No Joy in Mudville Rouge today Jim...My goodness, it looks like poor Les is a human being like he has been saying all along....grin he made a mistake that probably cost the game....not exactly a reason for firing, resigning or tar and feathering in my humble opinion. It is much easier to be a perfect fan than a perfect coach....lol
To rid yourself of dandruff: Wash hair normally and then soak 5 minutes with old flavor Listerine - kills fungus, microbiotic nasties, bad bacteria. & etc.
Use Listerine as a foot soak for athletes foot or nail fungus.
I had to try this when I lived in Hawaii and got 2 different skin fungus's ( I was turning whiter in patches with one and red with the other). Doc said that the drug to kill the fungus was too harsh for me to take, and to try this. It worked!
Good tip JuneyBug. Can also put antiperspirant on souls of feet to keep them from sweating.
Neat site - Granny's Household hints and tips: http://www.homeandgardening.co.uk/HintsTipsUK.htm
Soaking your feet in vinegar is good for the nail fungus, too. Works as good as the high dollar medicine I took for 90 days.
And if the rain keeps up Jim we will all need to use vinegar soaks....does it cure webbing between the toes???grin
No it won't help webbing. You have to get your husband to bite that out. Think I'll check Jo's!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cold, damp, foggy and miserable today. Ugh!
YUK! Supposed to get some sun later....and be in the mid 70's....one can only hope....grin
Didn't happen hear. Did get up to the upper sixties just before dark. It has been cloudy all day. No rain, thank goodness.
Didn't happen here either...got up to about 64 and the sun only made a weak hazy appearance through a light cloud cover....ah well, there is always hope for tomorrow...grin
Would you 2 stop complaining about it being in the 60's, when it is in the 40's here :-p
LOL
Just had to do that one.
I better not hear anything during the winter other then how hot it is down there..........LOL
LOL Kassy. We do get cold, just not as cold and not as often or for as long....I'll send ya some "hot air" over the winter...grin
Thanks Jean......^_^
And I think we all know where we can find some hot air..........LOL
I know, send me to the corner!
Boy is that corner getting crowded...lol
My bro used to make his kids put their noses right in the corner. It was funny.
You can do good headstands in 'the corner' too.
and foaming bath bubbles will get the snot out of the corners.
Smiley yuk remind me not to stand in your corners!!
Kassy you are bad!! LOL
no, not MY corners, my brothers. the bubbles were just in keeping with the thread, but would probably work.
I know I am JJ^_^..........he he he he
Oh ok smiley.
Scrubbing bubbles cleans everything, so foaming bubbles probably would too. LOL
smiley, can I come to your corner? JJ said I was bad :-(
Why did I feel like Kassy was speaking directly to me? Do I, perchance, have a guilt complex?
Our problem with the cold Kassy is that we can't get acclimated to it. It might be in the thirty's one day and in the seventy's the next. I remember one time I went off hunting with some guys and we motored about three miles up the river to get where we were going to hunt. I had on a light jacket and a tee shirt. The weather started clouding up and drizzling rain. The temp plunged from 75 to 30 in just a few minutes. I like to have froze going back up stream. We looked like a bunch of drowned, half frozen rats coming up the river hill. A little ole widow lady that lived right on the bank of the river said, "you'uns get in this house before you catch yore death." She pulled out a truck load of quilts and told us to get those wet cloths off and wrap up. She had a big roaring fire going in the fire place and boy did it feel good. While we were warming up and drying our cloths in front of the fire, she went in the kitchen and 2 big pans of bisquits and bowl full of tootalum gravy. There dear heart didn't know a one of us. Six men naked as a jay bird, under those quilts, boy has time changed.
Oh Jim, you have a guilt complex!
LOL
Trust me, I say that to anyone who lives where it is warmer.
Just like Dave said he knew it was getting cool, because he has to close the windows and put on socks.........LOL
OH, and Jim, our weather can change very fast here too.
One minute we can be at 30 degrees. and the next it can be 30 below............well not quite, but all most ;-)
They are saying we may get snow tomorrow.......
It can wait until Christmas, honest it can!
I've always wanted about 2 feet of snow on the 4th of July. I wouldn't mind getting snow if it was the white powdery kind like you guys get. We have so much humity that ours is slush. Builds up on the power lines and then electricty for a week.
By the way, Kassy, I harvested my chives, washed them, chopped them and put them in the freezer. They are so good. Watered the green house plants yesterday and the chives are already about a half inch high. I need to do the basil the same way.
That is a great story, Jim.
You are right about snow - if it's nice & powdery it has less moisture in it, which means it's colder outside. Can't have a good snowball war with that, or build a fort either. Has to be a bit warmer to get the good packing stuff, but not too warm where it's too slushy.
We get the wet heavy stuff at times to Jim. Ask my kids who shovel it.
Snowplow had filled the end of the driveway with it. Kids were out there shoveling out driveway that can hold 6 cars without a problem, and a nice guy in a truch with a blow on the front came along and cleaned out the end where it was all built up by the snow plow. They wouldn't mind seeing him come around more often when it is the heavy snow.
And if it's the light stuff and it is windy..............drifts all over.....
Watch out, I have a camera and am ready to take pictures at the drop of a hat. I can send you lots of snow pictures this year ^_^......LOL
Better yet, I'll send them to you in the summer!
Glad to hear those chives are doing so good for you ^_^
This is what the book says guys I'm not making it up. Revive an ailing plant by giving the plant two tablespoons Geritol twice a week for three months. New leaves should begin to grow within the first month.
Prevent late blight on tomato plants by filling a trigger-spray bottle with Hydrogen Peroxide and misting plants every evening from late Aug til early Sept.
Use powder jell-o to fight off fungal diseases on houseplants. One teasp.per plant covered with dirt will help the plant retain water, the nitrogen enhances growth and the sugar feeds the microbes in the soil, producing more nutrients for the plant.
flowers, I wish I had some Geritol in the house to try that one out..............LOL
This book is so fun Kassy, not sure it all works but is fun experimenting. Its called Gardening Magic. Think alot of these remedys are from old farmhands and gardeners from way back.
