Wow - how scary, Jen. Hope they got the guy. I have no tolerance for that crap. One offense should result in a lifetime driving ban, even if no one is hurt.

Coffee Break #23 - Counting down to Turkey!
I didn't even think to ask about the dirtball, I was so concerned for her.
oh that's scary Jen.. glad everything is ok
Jen, thank goodness mother and baby were not hurt.
Victor, I am of the same opinion about inebriated people that drive. Many years while I went home to visit my parents in Vienna, a former school mate of mine caused an accident because of his drunken condition, no one was hurt but they simply took away his license on the spot, he was never allowed to drive again.
That's how it should be, Maria. So many lives cut short or ruined. I also think younger people should have driving curfews.
Dave sorry to hear about your son's leg, trash the scooter! lol
Jen glad your friend is OK, she should get a lawyer though.......my friends child had learning disabilities and they attributed it to the accident she was in while pregnant.
She was hit by an semi while 9 months pregnant, it rattled the her son's brain they said.
glad your friend is ok jen - 2:30 is pretty early in the day for that type of incident
People with substance abuse problems don't care what time it is---some lady in CT ran over & killed a mailman while drunk--in the morning! And she had been arrested before---hope she never gets out of jail.
Guess he needs more practice...

Not sure which thread it was, but there was a recent discussion on making bird suet. Today's featured article gives one recipe using suet.

We're going to my daughters for Thanksgiving as always. She has the two kids, 10 and 7, and two new dogs, a cat, and her mother in law, so it will be hectic and joyful as ever. So Maria, or anyone else, we can always seat more people, and you'll hardly be noticed. Come on over. I am so thankful for the life we have. I was touched reading your posts, Maria.
We do leave a turkey cooking at home, and I make a pot of stuffing, so we can have leftovers, as even though my daughter gets a large turkey, there are few leftovers. Good eaters there.
Christmas is at my house, and we've got the same thing going on, including the mother in law, but only one cat, and not the dogs.
We only cook turkey breasts here. Walmart always has the Butterball turkey breast for 2.00 a pound, and even though everyone say they like the dark meat, or legs, those never get eaten, only the white meat. Anyone else just do the turkey breasts? The regular Butterballs are .98 per pound, and I saw Honeysuckle, I think it was for .40. Cheap.
Poor ninja.
I did turkey breast a couple times when it was just me and hubby. I love the dark meat though. I get a free turkey from local grocery store for spending so much $, I don't think I've had to actually pay for a turkey in years.
I prefer white. Wife and kids like the dark. We will brine this year for the first time.
Lots of people hurting this year. This is the year to be as generous as possible. With the real unemployment / underemployment rate nearing 20%, there is lots of need out there. Makes it extra special to be thankful and generous.
Amen to that, Victor!
i like it all - dark more - and stuffing needs to be in the bird with no nuts or fruit - gravy should be brown with herb seasoning and the neck meat diced in it - another reason i want it here is that i can cook it my way - will probably have to have two gravy's and stuffing to accommodate others - and dinner is scheduled around the cowboys game. and there are some that say i am heavy lifting :)
I'm going to try brining this year, also.
Yes, hunting does seem to be up. I certainly am hearing a lot of shotgun blasts.
thats exactly how I like it, wha....minus the cowboys :-)
DH likes traditional stuffing but I like to throw apples and sausage and handfuls of herbs in which is why DH always makes the turkey when we have it.
My wife puts sausage in her stuffing.
Y'all are making me hungry! Me thinks it's lunchtime!!
Duck for dinner here. It will be late in the afternoon so I can watch the earlier Packers game. DH puts up with a lot.
Brining seems the way to go this year, hubby is going to do ours that way.
I love sausage stuffing and also chestnut stuffing(my mom made it like that) yum!
Do any of you know in the south the put boiled eggs in the gravy? I think I could eat it if I were on the brink of starving,
I've never heard the boiled egg thing.
Have not heard of it either till some one from the south posted it a couple of years ago,
Doesn't sound too appetizing to me.
Maria do you recall if they beat them in? How many eggs per boat? Do they do that just for bird gravy or for beast gravy too? Enquiring minds need to know all of the details.
I second the yuck.
I want to try it.
My aunt, who lived in Florida used to chop up hard boiled egg in her giblet gravy, I think it was. Honestly I don't recall why or how it tasted, but I don't remember it being horrible, and I would try it again. My gravy is a smooth one, and this one was more chunky.
Found the thread that Maria was speaking about http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/790685/
Ugh - have you heard of (or seen) the video showing diners in China eating a live fish?!! It's so disgusting. They cook the body but wrap the head to keep it breathing - all to enhance the experience.
The live snakes turn me off the most. There is a nutbar on the Food Channel who travels around the world eating bizarro stuff like that. Googleguy has videos but don't look at them cuz you will upchuck for sure.
DH sometimes watches that guy on Foodnetwork. Yuck!
There are a few things that I might try jumper2 but alot is gagfull. I think I could eat some of the bugs; the crunchy bugs, not the slimy bugs.
This is so cute.

cat seemed to like policeman, not sure if he liked cat.
dahlia, that is exactly where I read it. I happen to like hard boiled eggs or most any other way they are COOKED but NOT in my turkey gravy.
We always had a very simple TG dinner. My MIL used her mother's who in turn cooked the same as her mother. Turkey, giblet gravy, bread dressing, turnips, mashed potatoes, small white onions and pumpkin. Desert was Indian pudding and minced meat pie. I made it that way, my daughter to it like that to.
