Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I grew out ludgers windsong X peanut to about a foot, gave it to my sis in law, she said it bloomed for her, I get to see it at thanksgiving.. dang I wish I hadn't given away all the seedlings I grew out from B Delph..
Miss Bhavin seedling I grew out and gave away also bloomed these other people said.. no one had cameras.. bleah! well, I still have my star dancer X ? crosses seedlings to watch grow now.. *sigh*
oh and my axel rose X ludgerswindsong from gordonhawks seed is about three foot tall now, but no blooms yet, no Y either.. ya'all chat so fast I can't keep up! LOL

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

We are jabberboxes, Debra. I like the name Axel Rose it sounds pretty.
We learn from each other with our talks.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra, those sound like some great crosses! Maybe you'll be able to get cuttings back, of some.
Yes, we are gabby, but we love it!..lol..We talk about everything under the sun, but brugs are the main topic, and that's what brought us together! We love them.Charleen and I are new to brugs this year, and our addiction is out of control..lol..Elizabeth has been at it longer and has a pretty good handle on her addiction..She is able to turn down cuttings, for lack of room...I just can't imagine, can you Charleen?...lol
By the way girls, Good Morning...got carried away gabbing..lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Yep, We love them all. After going to Mr. George's Brugs and seeing them and climbing thru them, yep, I'm very certainly
hooked. Good Morning to You all too.
Dee, my baby won't be long til it gets its first true leaves. Isn't that great?
Elizabeth, some of the cuttings you sent are putting out leaves. Yeah!!!
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, that's great. I love seeing pics of your baby, and watching it grow. I hope my babies do as good as your baby has. I am getting good germination. Don't know what I'm gonna do with them all, even if only 1/2 of them make it.When I bought them, I bid on 10 seeds, but she sent about 25, which tickled me pink, since I know they are hard to get to germinate, sometimes.I hope to get some other brug cross seeds.
I'm hoping our weather holds out another week or so, because that is when I will be sending your cuttings..hope you still have room, after you get Gordons cuttings.I am sending Elizabeth's Monday, I hope, but I will be sending you a bigger box(yippee, more cuttings), so I have to wait.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I'm am tempted to send you some of these Mr. George got me. Dee, do you have Dreamcycle? I also have A piece of Insignia gold, I bet I can make four cuttings out of it., Salmon perfection also. They are still in Galv. Bucket and The sign is right today. So I'm thinking of making the cuttings. Wonder if Elizabeth wants part of any of them?????
Charleen

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Is the Gal. bucket supposed to do something that a plastic one does not.? Are the cutting in just water?

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

OOH, great! I have to run right now. Will be back in about an hour...Sorry..Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I read on one of these threads that a lady left her brugs in a galv. bucket and they didn't rot like they do in reg. plastic bucket. So far, it seems she is right. When I had my little cuttings in water, they got soft and rotted but so far these are doing good in the galv. buckets.
Yes, just regular water, nothing aded in Galv. buckets. Must be something in the Galvinization that stops them from rotting. but it is interestin, isn't it?
See ya later, Dee.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I am back. Charleen, it was gordon that said his mother left some long cuttings in a galvanized trough, and they did just fine.
I do have a creamsickle cutting, but I would love cuttings of Insignis Gold and Salmon Perfecktion, if you do decide to cut them.Thanks..Dee

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

It is interesting. A little bit of Hydrogen Peroxide will help help the rooting process. The faster they root, the less chance of rot. You live in the middle of Brug heaven. I have been to several Brug swaps in and around GA and going through the small towns you see where people have them planted in their yard. Also a lot of real Brug people are in the south east. We have not been to a Brug swap in two years and I do miss my friends.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I think Texas would be great , it has been a long time since I've been to Texas, I went to Dallas, Don't hold this against me but It was o.k. but not what I was expecting. did see some very nice Bronze statues though. Loved them. Wasn't there very long.
I think more southern part would be more interesting. I did have peroxide in the water, but they still rotted. Getting ready to do th cuttings that are in the Galv. bucket.
I went to one of the brug growers, I loved it. I hope to see some more.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

yummy...on doing the cuttings! I need to pot up a few cuttings.and sort thru the ones that I have two of, then I can let you know what I will be sending.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Ken, How long are your cuttings? Maybe I should cut mine
shorter than I do. But i want to give them plenty of stalk to root.
Dee, how long do you cut yours?
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, the only cuttings I have made were on my NOID, and just cut off two 6 ft. stalks and put them in a bucket..lol I have received them anywhere from 6 to 12 inches. How long are your big cuttings?

Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

20" on Salmon perfection, I think I can make
Four cuttings. Do you strip ALL the leaves off?
The Gold Insigna is 3 ft. long. Dreamcycle is 20"
But has Y. These are green (near the top)
cuttings.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

All the leaves are usually stripped , when I get cuttings.Maybe you should talk to Elizabeth, before you cut. I wouldn't want to be cause of you messing them up, if I told you something wrong. She has so much more experience than we do.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Tooooooooooooo late, got 4 cuttings out of Salmon perfection. I already got your in potting soil, that o.k.??
This is just so neat. Have you check out a place called"Seedsman" for Brug seeds? It is from Miss.
Got some nice seeds and Datura seed too. Think Iwill stick with Brug. I got Wild pigweed in pasture.
That could be a mess.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

LOL, Charleene you don't waste any time do you?..LOL...sounds good to me!
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, I have to get off again. My husband is wanting to burn, so I have to mow the leaves around the burn pile first. I'll try to get back on this afternoon, before the grandkids get here.
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Good afternoon
I had things I had too take care of, Charlene you learn by doing, I got my first Brugs in 2001, I have been growing & adding too my collection since I moved here in 2005, everything I have learned has been since then, I have learned what not too do instead of learning what to do, also I have learned a lot since 2007 when I got my computer
by joining the different forums, I have learned what works for me, doesn't necessarly work for someone else
I think Ken has probably been growing them longer than I have
Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Now I have two groups of cuttings, not done yet. Should have extra's Dee already got two.
they still look Perky. I hit them with the juice spray.
Gotta go get some hay, be back later.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Hi Everyone!!..Mike, between your pics and Elizabeth's, I am going to have to have more that I could ever have room for. Maybe I can plant in my neighbors' yards after I run out of room..lol Your Wanda Sue grabs me eveytime you post a pic of her...Beautiful color and form! I hope you and Elizabeth are going to enter some of your pics in the BGI calendar contest. It is still going on isn't it? I ablsolutely love Elizabeth's pic of Harlot. I have it as my wallpaper, on the puter.

Dee

Kerkdriel, Netherlands

Wanda Sue is pretty too!!! It rimes!

I am here too. But I am soon going downstairs. I promissed my husband to go watch a movie with him (DVD). And I have a cake baking in my oven. Jummie!

I picked up the cuttings today. They look nice and are already fully rooted! How great. He had to make place because his wife is pregnant an expecting within 3 weeks. I know I wanted everything clean and ready before the baby came. I thing she does too! LOL

My husband was working for me today. I didn't have water and electricity in my greenhouse yet. He has dug a trench to put in the cables and has closed it too already. (40 meters)
Tomorrow he is going to finish it. But we don't have much time I think. It is St. Nicholas here. And he arrives tomorrow in our village. My son is excited. (Do you all know what St. Nicholas is?)

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Jori, St. Nicholas sounds like our Christmas, which is Dec. 25.
Wow on your brugs being already rooted! Can't wait for them to bloom for you, so you can post pics.
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Sounds like you kept your husband busy today..lol...Bless their hearts, what would we do without our DH's. It will be so nice to have water and electric in your greenhouse!
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Now, that is a win-win trade, Jori. Already rooted.
How wonderful!!I hope Ryan enjoys St. Nicholas.
Here is St. Nicolas, Right. A pic for him.

Charlene
it was funny today, some new neighbors moved in, they have a little girl, my GD Maria, got to play outside with her, Maria was showing her, & naming the plants, it was sooo cute, she ask me Grandma where's my Strawberries, I told her they are in for the winter, her showing plants, now that's just too too cute
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

They are adorable.I really miss having a baby around. I do have one great grand daughter, but since her mom and day are split, I usually only get to see her on holidays.
charleen I found pics of creamsicle. Is it a double?
