Sly way to make money.

No need to apologize, Allison. It's not that bad. $15 for six shots before 11/30. I am thinking about it. Another DGer sent me the link last week.

I seem to have missed most of my JM colors this year! Bummer. I checked about ten days ago and it was still early. Checked the other day and it was too late!

Here's another contest:

http://www.yankeefoliage.com/fcontest/fallphoto

Thomaston, CT

It was a beautiful photo---I do subscribe to Yankee---actually my stepdaughter gives it to me for my Bday every year---and I do love the articles, especially Mary's Farm---the photos aren't too shabby, either.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

It's a good subject but I can't see how he, (Giblo), won the 2008 contest - the lens he used has a lot of vignetting around the edges!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I saw that too. As happens in so many photo contests, the subject trumps everything.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

FYI - today is the final day of voting for the DG photo contest.

Doesn't look like fall anymore----looks like winter.....

robindog, but the grass is still green. We are still warmish so a few hold outs are in bloom. Love their tenacity. Patti

More. We have some ever bearing strawberries are trying to ripen and more blossoms coming. Patti

Geranium Rozanne is very pretty now and I love the two white roses still strutting. Rosa Sea Foam and Mini Rosa Green Ice. Patti

Lovely, Patti---I do have roses blooming---Morden Sunrise, Carefree Celebration, & Red Meidland are still putting forth. I just had someone dig out my huge Dr. Walter Van Fleet---it was just too big for its site--I'll miss it, but I'd like to put a small everblooming rose there.

great pix Patti

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice Patti.. we needed some bloomage!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Robindog, That Morden Sunrise is a wonderful rose that I happened to move last year to swap it out with a rose that was clashing with its neighbors. Morden Sunrise looked fine where it was, but the other was all wrong. Now it is one of my favorite roses and it is placed in a spot that is always in view. It was a random choice to move the other one and I am so happy to have a clear view of it.

Onewish1, Bloomage is a good word, that I need to use. I found a few more this morning, so I can say, "I have more bloomage!" But off to Vt this morning, so no pictures.

Thanks ge1936, I am stopping in Boston for the day to play in the clay and do some glazing. Patti

hmpf big difference. Were the smaller ones an end of season fabby deal?

Thomaston, CT

Probably not---the native bulbs are usually smaller. Patti, I also have Morden Sunrise where I can see it out my kitchen window---right now it's all yellow---no orange at all in it! Here's a noid budded---don't know if it'll open...

Dnut!! Yes the bulbe from American Meadows were pre packaged and 1/2 price.
The Buggy Crazy bulbs ( some the size of my fist) were 28 bulbs mixed for about 55 dollars.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I love everything I get from Buggycrazy!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

those are really nice JoAnn... will keep that in mind for the future.. thanks!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll have to see if she sells other plants besides tulips and lilies.
The value is definatly there.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I think that's a good deal ge. Although smaller, those bulbs will still make beautious lilys I find and they sure look healthy. For me the blooms are so so the first year and then kaboomie. This is a little guy I got on a fabby end of season deal 2 years ago. Count the buds this year ^_^

colors on that lily are WOWSER

Nice fall shots everyone. Victor as usual adds much color to this forum. I am afraid the colors in my area weren't all that nice this year. Too much rain and wind combined with early freeze I think. Here is a shot from a couple of weeks ago. All the leaves are down now pretty much, even most of the oaks are pretty bare already.

The bones of your garden are lovely

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Well thank-you JoAnn. I do find I already am wanting it to fill in again even though the grey cold nasty months are just getting started. I do hope the next few months go as fast as the last few seemed to have done.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Welcome back, Pat!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I just planted 40 Lily bulbs I thought I didnt have any room from the October planting of about 50 bulbs so I added them up , Lily bulbs since 2007 when I didnt have a clue as to what I was doing.
Over 200 bulbs in 43 varieties mostly Asiatics.
I believe this is the latest I have planted anything.
What I meant to say, dont ever think gardening stops.
It s almost December. That means winter is half done, because the holidays eat up so much time and January is long but Feb is short, that leaves March which is when I begin to look for plants peeping up.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Victor. Nudge nudge.
I would love to have more lilies JoAnn, but I can hardly keep the ones I have clear of the nasty red lily beetle. It sounds like you will have a wonderful treat come spring and early summer with all those bulbs. It has been a very wet and grey fall here so I guess I have gotten a little down. At least the temps for the most part are mild and the real winter hopefully will wait for the new year to really blast us. I agree we have been lucky so far and Dec. has so much activity it goes along pretty fast. It's that little short month of feb. that always seems to last and last, sometimes way into march. I will take an early spring thank you very much and a bit less wet in the summer, but no droughts please. There now that's not too picky is it? LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, it's been quite mild so far. Only two days below 32 here so far.

I am looking for a mate for Ilex "Rock Garden" and get it to berry. I have had one for many years and
tried several different males to no avail. When I bought it, it had
a mate and berried, but do you think I can remember what it was? The
male died. Most garden centers and even a huge mail order nursery
that has tons of different varieties of Ilex (Forest Farm) do not
know the answer. Rock Garden is a tiny little holley which resides
in my dwarf conifer garden so ideally, a mate would be one of the
smaller varieties. Thanks!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The freaky year keeps getting better. First I had new flowers on my Shasta viburnum last month as the foliage was already colored up. Now, my Spirea thunbergii Ogon is blooming to go along with its great color!

No answer here JoAnn. You might try the American Holly Society http://www.hollysocam.org/ or maybe Brooklyn Botanical http://www.bbg.org/lib/ . I hope you find an answer.
Very nice Victor. Weird but nice. This whole year has been a little freaky due to the nutty weather. Will this mean less blooms next season do you think?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hopefully not!
